Hearthstone - That other, other, other Blizzard game

I don’t like the disturbing trend of “people are complaining about X card, make it cost 10”

Also, I don’t get why you’re so focused on druids–this patch hurts almost every class equally because 80% of the patch is toning down neutral cards.

I think they had to nerf Pyro in some way though, Aggro Mages are a big a problem and if they get a slightly better start than you they can easily bring you down to 20-22 for free just going for face autowinning at turn 8-9 and that’s not the only strong Mage deck.

You can’t say that nerfing neutral cards is equally harsh on all classes when there are different class cards and hero powers.

So you’re saying that druid decks don’t need to run the staples that are being nerfed? That’s an entirely different argument–you’re arguing that druid cards are so good and the nerf to neutral cards are putting you at a disadvantage–which I find hard to believe.

Pyro is a big problem, being able to deal 20 damage with 2 spells is pretty strong, but the real problem is ice block. I think it should proc on the next damage done to you, instead of being “drop mid game and let it wait until I’m about to die.”

Ice Block:“The next time you take damage, reveal this secret and become invunerable for the rest of the turn.” Then you can’t iceblock until it really mattered, and then you can revert frost nova and possibly cone of colds +1 mana increase

Man ice block is so insane with that guy that grows if you have a secret, I never even thought about that “combo”

Also, I find it funny that the first time I ran into iceblock it didn’t work, because I habitually attack the opponents down to 1 hp before killing them off, to get the largest negative number I can.

Then his secret happened and he was very upset.

@nsc I’m saying the nerfs aren’t as detrimental to Druids strategy wise and the decks they run than it is to a Rogue or Warlock for instance (health nerf isn’t as detrimental and they don’t run Dark Iron), they were already in a good spot and this tips it more in their favor. Edit: I’m not saying they’re overpowered but more consistent compared to other classes.

I think we’ll see more decks revolving around Archmage Antonidas or just straight up rush now.

Just looked at the patch notes.

•1/1 novice engi - yeah… that change is enough to make me look for other cards to possibly replace it.

•Temporary 2+ attack buff Dark Iron dwarf - At first I thought eh well maybe this is another card I should consider putting away but then they mentioned that this change allows you to play this card without having to buff your opponents minion; so this means that you can finally play this card alone if you dont have any minions to buff. I usually use it to trade anyways so its a buff on my end.

•3/3 to 2/3 Defender of Argus - I don’t mind the change at all. Kinda surprised they didn’t nerf him to 2/2

•Blood imp change - PRAISE JAYZUS. I really like the change, he’s still good if not great in certain situations but not in the ultra annoying kind of way. I can finally AoE normally and drop betrayal for better cards.

•Warrior card changes - Questionable. They’re in a awkward state right now.

•Pyro nerf - classic blizzard nerf but I only got pyroblasted once.

So I got about 2-6 cards I can potentially change in my rogue deck for the better and I think Rogue decks will have a better time laddering. They were in a good spot before but now with the nerfs to mage and pesky blood imps, they’re definitely going to be better. Though apparently other decks that had their bad matchups nerfed might see viability over time so who can say for now.

@owattjacob Have you looked into Spiteful Smith?

Probably a bit too slow on my deck and its not too weapon-centric. I have enough removals with backstab, evis, and thalnos/azure drake buffing those cards on top of deadly poison/Agents/ramming people with argent crusader being pretty efficient as is. I mean seriously backstab -> evis is already 6 damage. Thalnos + back stab is 3 damage for 2 mana with a minion summoned. Thalnos -> evis is 5 damage. Thalnos -> back stab evis is 8 damage, and jesus im not even mentioning Azure drake buffs or backstab -> summon Agent for 2 damage x2 with a 3/3 minion summon at turn 3, or causing weaker minions to trade via suncleric/iron dwarf. The deck has pleeeeeeenty of removal options.

I dropped gnomish inventor for betrayal because despite it being pretty decent, I seriously needed a way to get rid of blood imps because 1-2 fan of knives won’t cut it and blade flurry wasn’t as convenient as betrayal. So I might consider putting back gnomish inventor over betrayal or finding something else when a new meta comes up. Also a decent target for buffs from cleric/dwarf/def of argus.

As for Novice engi, not sure if I want to keep her or replace her with another effective 2-3 mana cost minion. Looking at Faerie dragon since i have cards like Sun cleric, Defender of Argus and Iron dwarf to buff it, and it fucks over some decks. Scarlet crusader works too, can be a bitch to get rid of. Not sure if i’d want or need a wild pyromancer, if I had nat pagle i’d definitely throw him in. Then there’s utility minions like owl/ooze that i could consider.

I could keep novice engi though, she’s not useless or anything and she still can help cycle through my deck but she went from having SOMEWHAT of a board presence to barely existing. So im leaning towards the former choices, but there’s a fair chance of the original deck working pretty well.

Drafting rogue for the first time…really don’t know how well I did…i’m nervous

UG. Lost my first match against warrior.

Ugh, I’m really at the point where constructed is easy until I run into someone that has legitimate cards, like 2 rare finishers and all their deck are super good playables that I don’t have access to.

Very frustrating, feels like I’m getting out-grinded not out skilled.

I AM THE WORST ROGUE PLAYER EVER. GODDDDDD.

LOL. I just had a Priest arena game against a Mage where I dropped a Lightwell and buffed the fuck out of it so he can’t kill it. I also had a Demolisher and it was just wrecking shit up while I keep getting healed all the time. Shit was funny

I feel your pain nsc, Until now my only legendary is a Black Knight. I keep getting scrap heaps in my booster packs which I get every other day if I’m lucky

Rogue drafting is interesting. They are all about getting a hold of the early game tempo and not letting go. My drafting priority is like this for their class cards:

Very good (Get as many as the draft offers you):
Deadly Poison
Backstab
Eviscerate
Defias Ringleader
SI:7 Agent
Edwin VanCleef

Good (Take 2 at most, 3 is kind of pushing it):
Assassin’s Blade
Assassinate
Perdition’s Blade
Patient Assassin
Shiv

Okay (Take 1 at most, 2 if your deck build is looking to support it):
Blade Flurry (values goes up a lot if you have Assassin’s Blade or Deadly Poison)
Sprint
Cold Blood
Betrayal
Master of Disguise
Fan of Knives

Below Average (Gimmicky as shit or underperforms)
Sap
Headcrack
Shadowstep (could be value if you have a lot of good battlecry minions)

Awful (Don’t take)
Preparation
Sinister Strike
Conceal
Kidnapper
Vanish

Obviously, rogues will put a much higher priority on spell damage, since so many of their cards benefit from the effect.

I love demolisher, it’s so damn efficient–and the random…
Like I love random, random is fun and wacky. Whenever I win the RNG I always emote “well played”

I hope the people I play with get that it’s a joke whenever I emote “well played” after the RNG decides something.

Oh yeah, get this stupid shit that happened in my rogue arena run today.

I’m beasting on this Warlock that’s playing like trash (Soulfire to my face when I’m at 24 life), and he pulls this crap off

His board: 1/1 on board, he’s at 14 life

My board: 3/2 and 4/4 on board, Assassin’s Blade with 2 charges, I’m at 20 life

This fucker plays Power Overwhelming on the 1/1, kills the 4/4, drops Mad Bomber, and it hits my 3/2 twice, and then me once. Afterwards, he plays Void Terror to kill both of his things, and made a 11/6.

Next turn I play a 5/4 taunt, then he top decks a Soulfire to kill it and hit me for 11. Next turn I die.

Lucky motherfuckers.

I would move SI agent into the always take tier.

Fair enough on that, I can’t ever recall a time that I didn’t say “Nice, a SI:7 Agent” while drafting.

I’d move Patient Assassin to Okay, he should only be picked when the other Epics are poor in value.

Makes me wish he was Unpatient Assassin with charge instead of Stealth.
