HD Remix Match Play Videos Thread

Yo, I seem to remember someone (maybe NKI?) linking to where someone was taking frame by frame shots of hitboxes, anyone know what that link is?

Here’s the thread I remember. I have no idea what happened to the videos.

I just checked my bookmarks and had the Blanka hitboxes off of youtube and found a few more under this guys account.

No no, it was a video, it was picture by picture.

I think it was on t.akiba’s website, not sure.

Well if this is what you’re talking about it’s far from complete, in fact it does not show any hitboxes for punches or kicks.

This isn’t a video, but if you want to look at hitboxes this site has ALL the character pages from Yoga Book Hyper scanned in High Resolution PDF’s.

Keep in mind that the vast majority of hitboxes didn’t change from ST to HDR. (Obviously Sirlin’s site outlines the ones that did.)

Wow…this is a GREAT resource. This is exactly what I needed to speed up my work in regard to redoing my Cross-up, Link, and Combo FAQ! Having those jumping move hitboxes will really help me better see how moves are hitting on cross-up attempts.

Yeah, I posted the link to the blanka page up in the Blanka thread. Some of the hitboxes on his moves are completely nuts.

Basically the best crossups have really wide hitboxes on the bottom. Like Deejay’s j.fK, and Blanka’s j.lK. The frame data for each move is also listed.

Well…IMHO, the hitbox could be narrow or wide on the bottom, but the thing that really makes it easy for a move to cross up is how far back past the middle of your character the hitbox goes. For example, I have the easiest time with jumping over someone and then hitting with Zangief’s splash because the hitbox is pretty much his whole body.

It’s pretty much a factor of how far back the hitbox reaches in relation to where your character’s “position indicator” is. Somebody…maybe NKI, but I can’t remember…posted a link to pictures that show a blue dot or hash right below the middle of the character. If that axis passes another character’s axis, their “turn around” animation is triggered. (I think that axis is also used in determining whether or not someone is in range to be thrown, but I can’t be entirely sure.) Anyway, moves that reach farther back behind that axis are generally that character’s best crossup.

Someone with more expertise can explain it better, I’m sure.

But, as far as overall functionality is concerned, yeah…jumping moves with wide hitboxes…especially if you can cross up with it…will just plain ruin someone’s day if they aren’t ready for it.

Nice match vids man, i cannot pull off reversals that consistently with anyone, maybe its just easier offline? Even HD Remix has some frames dropping out, and a little button delay(i think 2 frames). Also i didnt know chun li’s super had invincibility, i always tried it and got hit out of it by anything(including a jab at what i think was startup). Oh well Fei Long can wreck any character with his super so i have nothing to worry about, been playing him since ST. Hes been completely improved in HD Remix though, i can rip apart any character that comes my way but that extra recovery time on the chicken wings makes my life difficult against zangief and t hawk, oh well if that wasnt changed then he would be broken because he would have fireball invincibility plus the ability to combo into st. fierce into rekka ken combos for something as simple as zangief trying a lariat(Since it wins cleanly).

Thanks man btw nice blanka i think ive played you on xbl. I always used the hitbox option in training mode and set game speed to zero, but seeing them at a slower speed has given me a better idea of how long they stay out, priorities etc

It was easier to lump a few fights into one video, and then breakdown what times each fight occured. I got lazy after the first few individual fights.

Seems most of those are ST mode but with HD graphics.
