HD Loader & HD Advance

Either buy HD Advance or do the MC exploit so you can get the patched HD Loader. You could also rip it from the pc and transfer it to your ps2 hd.

My ps2 has a hard drive with HD advance on it. as i said, the HD advance on my ps2 hard drive reads the file at 3 gigs, i played the first 20 min and it works fine…though if itll crash later im not sure…

does the ps2 usb thingy under the controller port connect to the pc through usb or do i need something else? any other tips?

The thing under the Ps2 controller port, looks like a USB to me.I’m assuming that there is some program like USB Extreme that will detect the USB port from your computer to the Ps2.I’ll have to do some research when I get some free time.

As for the Chapter 7 freezing in Rogue Galaxy.I’ll find out soon enough.I am on planet Vedan right now, which is Chapter 5 or 6 I think.I’m not really expecting it to work when I get to Chapter 7,since I burned the game as a Single layer game.

You guys are correct it is USB, but it’s USB 1.1 not 2.0 meaning a file transfer will be excruciatingly slow.

It does not matter what method, if transferring directly by PS2 Drive, or network cable. Both are Slooooow.

connect the hard drive to your computer internally, it takes at most 5 mins to transfer a game.

bump. any news? any crashing after a certain point on rogue galaxy or do i need to find the bigger file online and d/l it from there? hope not, i burned the retail ver. on my HDD on my ps2 just fine…but again…it read the file as 3 gigs…

Tried transferring it over network cable yet?

I haven’t played Rogue Galaxy(Or any game for that matter)for the entire week so hopefully I’ll see if it freezes at the 7th chapter.

How important is the software that comes with the network adapter? I bought a network adapter but it didn’t come with the software, how important is it to run HD Advance and to play online?

I have never played online so I wouldn’t know about that.

For just Hdadvanced however, you don’t need the network software for it to work.

any of you played Samurai Spirits 6: Tenka on an HDAdvance? How’s the loading time? Is it greatly reduced?

It works well. Load times are fine.

Not important at all.All you really need is the Network Adaptor itself,HD Advance, and a decent sized harddrive.I’ve never played any Ps2 games online, and you do not have to go online to use HD Advance.Basically all the Network adaptor does is holds the harddrive in place,in addition to being formatted with the HD Advance software(or whatever you want to call it)when you first insert HD Advance, and holds all of your games on the harddrive for you.

why pay for hd advance? it’s just hdloader (a free program) on a disk. save your ps2 laser, and time, and transfer the games internally from your pc.

Network adapter acts as the “IDE Cable”, connecting HDD to the PS2.

Transferring games via network cable from PC to PS2, can be done with Hdadvanced as well. Although it is no faster than doing it direct by PS2 drive, I agree it is better for the sake of the laser.

which modes did you use for those 2 games?

No modes, I am using the latest version of HDLoader (0.8b). Before I had 0.8b it would freeze in the beginning but now it’s cool.

I have only messed with Hdavanced thus far. Is there an easy way to get hdloader on a disc and use it with the PS2?

Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I dont know about anyone else, but Yes Kindgom Hearts 2 works with it, but it will freeze at the Gummi Ship levels. You need to have the Original disc in the drive at the time of the Gummi ships, after that, you can play the levels themselves from the HDD.

As far as transfer, I find that using Winhiip and usb (external usb drive with pstwo slim) is a lot faster than trying to use a network cable or trying to transfer directly from the disc and pstwo drive. In fact, I would never use the direct-from-disc method, as others have stated, puts excess strain on an already frail laser eye and is equal to or slower than other methods of transfer.

Most games will work without any modes, but, if you do need to use a mode, mode 3 seems to work more than the other modes.
