hd loader is an older program that doesn’t support the newer features of HD advance. At least I haven’t seen LD loader updated in a long time.
But HD advance allows ripping of DVD9 files, it also supports harddrives over 128GBs in size.
hdloader isnt buyable anymore i think but theres still up to date new versions that can be downloaded and ran off your memory card via independence exploit (bulky ps2 only)
HD Loader was the original program.HD advance is a copy program.Hd Loader has updates the newest being 08.B
.HD Advance just waits on HD Loader to come out with enough updates and put it all on one disc.Speaking from experience and to other people that use the programs,this is pretty much the consensus.
The one good thing about HD Advance is that I can copy my games to the harddrive using it.HD Loader 0.8b doesn’t.
My best advice would be to buy HD Advance 3.0,and then use the HD Loader 0.8b Memorycard exploit.
What would that exploit be? And why would I want to do this?
PS How is this method compared to chip modding?
thanks
i’ll hook you up with some pics of my Ps2 some good websites and link in just a sec.
And,me personally I like it better compared to mod-chipping.I can still play imported games,and I never have to open my Ps2 if something goes wrong.There are some games that won’t work with HD Loader 0.8b(Kingdom Hearts 2,King of Fighter:XI,are two that I can remember),but generally everything works with it.HD Advance 2.0 still works fine even though it it came out a while ago.I have only ever had 3 games not work for it(Kingdom Hearts 2,King of Fighters:XI,and Shadow of The Colossus).
unledded,I sent a Private message to you with all of the goods.If anybody wants to see the post,just ask :wgrin:
Why would I want to use the exploit when I have the HD Advance disk?
Well you don’t really have to use it.The Memory Card exploit to use HD Loader 0.8b just allows you to play a few more games here and there,but I have HD Advance 2.0,and rarely have any problems at all,so you can stick with HDA if that’s what’s working for you.
What version of HD Advance do you have?
Don’t have any version, just want to see which one to buy. If I can buy HD Loader+HD Advance would I have to use the exploit?
I don’t know about that so I don’t want to give you any wrong information,which is why I reccomended that you get HDA 2.0 or HDA 3.0(I’m more familiar with HDA 2.0,but you ould probably want to get HDA 3.0).
HD Loader 0.8b isn’t neccesary to play.Think of it as an update of sorts.
I don’t actually have a store bought HD Loader disc,but with the store bought disc I believe you can copy Ps2 games to your harddrive.With the HDL 0.8b update you can’t copy games to your harddrive(But you wouldn’t need to since you would have already bought HDA)
Think of it like this
HDL=HDA
HDA=HDL
They are pretty much the same thing except one program looks a little different from the other which is why it is possible to use the HDL 0.8b exploit with HDA 2.0 like I have even though the programs ae under different names.They are coded basically the same.
I’m probably confusing the shit out of you so try to make you points come across clear,and I’ll answer as best as I can.
What’s the maximum size hard drive can HD Advance/Loader support?
I want to say,HD ADvance can hold up to around 120 gigs.I don’t know about this so you will have to do a little research on your own.I have a 76 GB harddrive and it works fine.Just to be safe I would get about 90 or 100 gigs.
If I switch hard drives, than switch back to my first one, will it still work?
Yeah it will still work.When you first put your HD Advance disc in all it does is format your harddrive to work with the program.It’s not limited to just one harddrive.Think of it like it is software,or even a PC game.
Can you put the games on the hard drives through the pc or only through the ps2? I say this to save wear and tear to my old ps2’s laser lenz. And that PM you sent would be much appreciated over here, thanx in advance.
You can transfer games to the PS2 HDD, either directly by the PS2 Drive or from a Pc by network cable. You copy the game to your Pc then transfer using Hdl_Dumb or whatever it is called.
Sad thing is both methods are very slow. At least transferring by network cable saves wear and tear on the PS2 drive, so I guess its worth doing it that way.
<---- HdAdvanced 3.0 user here. I recommend it.
You can transfer games from computer to Ps2 using USB Extreme,although I am unfamiliar with that program.
You can transfer from Comp to ps2 with normal Hdvanced 3.0 too. It is done by network cable as i stated above.
You need to download the Hdl_Dumb program first, then connect network cables to Ps2 from comp, and start up Hdadvanced in Server Mode. Pretty easy to do.
Hdavanced is supposed to be compatable with IDE Hard drives up to about 200GBs I think.
