Have you ever been owned by a noob/button masher

Sadly, yes.

Shit my GF beats my ass at tekken 5 DR all the time. I think she used to just mash, but now she has that shit on lockdown.

Yeah like it was said earlier just the shock of the mashing throws you off and the next thing that you know you lost. BOY I HATE WHEN THAT HAPPENS

i’ve beaten somebody in soul calibur by just mashing when i was a noob.

Your AV is awesome. Quinne is fucking hot. :lovin:

No, if it’s a game I’m good at, I won’t get beat. How could you be good at Marvel and get beat by a button masher? the ONLY time I think it could KINDA happen is a button mashing faust in GG, but still, I won’t get beat.

edit: oh yeah Soul Caliber. You can get beat by mashers in SC, but I’ve never been good at SC.

yea i was playin this kid in sc2 in an arcade he was kilik and just basically palming the buttons, he was like 7 maybe. so i gave him 2 rounds + maybe 50% health then started to actually play and he was like a,a and i blocked it thinkin b was comin, then it didnt and i attacked and got ch by a,a. then he did a,a,b and i got hit by the b and lost.

getting beat by a scrub on soul calibur is scrubby

but what dark geese said about the subject is complete truth

MvC2 is the only game, some random kid asked me to play, he was about 8, and I said sure since I pretty much had fighting fundamentals down. All he did was pound the buttons, and I stress POUND. All that happened on his side were random assists and team specials, and all I did was stand back up…and up…and up.

That pretty much turned me off to MvC2.

My friend beat me 2/3 rounds in Last Blade 2 on my very own cab. I’m new to the game myself, but his spamming left me unable to pull off big damage. After the first round, I smartened up and starting playing defensively and punishing his then-predictable onslaught. Then he pulled off a super out of nowhere for the Victoly. Dag, yo.

Normally, though, if it’s a game I’m at all familiar with, that stuff won’t go down.

Standing next to stocked SAI Hugo on wakeup as characters with shitty stanima = bad idea :wasted:

I don’t remember ever getting wrecked in a 2D fighter, but when it comes to those Naruto fighters, I get my ass beat all the time by spazz attacks.

only series that ever happens to me in, is Soul Edge/Blade/Calibur…doesn’t happen often, but it happens at all…

Here’s the solution to the problem. Personally, took me some time to learn this, but playing conservatively and stayin’ QUIET all the time, solves EVERYTHING.

Yup, they have no idea whether the combo they just randomly did will put them at a disadvantage or not, and therefore after you block it…boom, punish that shit. Button masher are also TERRIBLE at spacing. Sometimes in Tekken (at the local arcade) I’ll do a df, 3 with Bryan and whoever, using whoever won’t even be in range at the time, but based on the combo that they are currently mashing in, it connects when it finally comes out.

In a good competitive game, a masher should maybe only get a round to suprise you with but not much more than that. If they keep beating you then you’re probably not as good as you think you are.

At first, I thought it would be shameful to say yes, but then thinking to what game I lost to, I thought and was like, “Fuck it”

Soul Calibur 2.

I just win with precise button mashing with Mitsu in 3.

The one time that I decided to try Tekken 3 on the PSX, my 10 year old sister picks up the 2nd controller, presses start, and randomly proceeds to pick a character (who just happened to be Eddie Gordo!).

Some 10 matches or so later, having never even won a single round, I retired from playing Tekken for good…

Yeah. But once I realized he wasn’t gonna stop i just started spamming launchers one character width away.

It’s funny, because when I was a kid, I was the masher. I was unstoppable at Killer Instinct, I would mash and pull Blaster and Killer combos for no reason. One day, I pulled a random Ultimate with Fulgore and no one wanted to play my scammy mashing skills ever again.

lol, in Tekken, yes.
I remember some random guy just came up and picked Law and started mashing and turning the joystick.
He would randomly do Law’s spinning kick and would do it twice, I was like “God damn it…” and it kept hitting, too.
After that, though, I just picked Paul and did his attack where he charges his fist and red flames comes out and it’s like a 1 hit KO or so, lol.
Did that 3 times in a row and dood got em all 3 times.
