In a fighting game that you were experienced in but beat by a noob? Describe your experience(s).
lol yeah in MVc2 i knew he was a newb and i knew him as a person too so i tried to win without using any assits or using any meter lol i didnt get owned but i still lost and i was embarrased
Nope
nein
Yes its called inexposure…if youve never seen the style before how can you be prepared against it??
Inexposure is something very real, top players lose to noobs/scrubs at times because of things they have never seen before…
Keep that in mind.
there was an infamous Lei Masher over at UC Berkeley a while back. Be almost everyone when T5 first came out
yes his name is kenmastersx and he beat me in garou before
I have been, and its pretty much because of the reason Dark Geese gave.
Who would’ve known that he would’ve done a fireball AFTER a fireball?
gilty gear is the name… and this guy was not mashing the machine he was punching it so im not sure if i lost cus i was scared he might punch me for beating him or because of his sol bad doing the same move over and over againg.
Yes, and that’s beacause I’ve played masher-friendly fighting games.
This is very correct, but nobody let this fool them into thinking that mashing and playing like a scrub is a winning strategy. It might work at first, but it is VERY easy to quickly adapt to noobish bullshit.
Personally, I’ve been given a run for my money by mashers/new players, but I’ve never actually lost to them. But one of my good friends got destroyed in MvC2 by a guy who had never played the game in his life before. I didn’t let him hear the end of it after that.
It’s happened, but I only usually lose that one round before I realize they have no idea what they are doing. The noob/mashers unpredictability is their strength, but since whatever happens is also a surprise for them, it also hurts. So once you figure out they are just mashing, then you just get real meticulous and play conservatively.
I have also won rounds in games I didn’t know how to play with a bit of mashing.
Eder last year got 8th place(not sure if its 9th or 8th). He used a trap that everybody forgot about, leading to a top 10 place.
Im not saying that Eder is a scrub, but that tactic will not get as far as it did last year.
Nope.
Nah.
In Tekken or VF I have though, but I dont play those really.
I played my cousin in Tekken 5 at the arcade in Florida. She was Panda and I was Devil Jin.She double perfected me.
yes, I have. that’s because back then, I was a noob too.
Nope.
Yes in MVC2. Guy picked Megaman and spazzed his fireball+Random Ken assist XP
No for all the other games I play…
In KI2 (arcade). Dude picked Saberwulf and mashed for combos/combo breakers. I played him five times and LOST. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
I haven’t lost to a masher in any other fighting game. Though, surprisingly, mashers tend to do better against me than mall scrubs who know game mechanics but complain that “throws are cheap” or whatever the fuck people whined about at the time. Not sure why; a masher’s unpredictability catches me off guard, and when I played MvC2 in arcades, I was fairly decent at punishing predictability.
