Never mained Blanka, Chun, Gen, or Honda, so I never got around to learning hands until Decapre. However I’m getting it 90% of the time now using different input methods depending on what I’m going for - here’s what works best for me.
c.mk into lp hands
c.mk + lp, hp, mp, lp, lp
After the c.mk + lp, drum down from fierce to jab almost like plinking, then finish with one last input of whatever strength hands you wish. I usually go for spaced lp hands after block strings like c.lp, cl.lp, lp.
mp into hp hands
far mp~lp, mp~lp, hp
Option select. Good to throw in there after block strings where mp will just barely whiff.
bnb into hp hands
c.lp, c.lp, c.mp~lp, lp, mp, hp
Nice if you want to hit confirm into super for big damage. Tip: after you plink the c.mk into lp, make sure you release your finger from the button then slide lp to hp. You lose that extra necessary input if you slide from your plinked c.mp.
really another post with hands inputs?
Sheesh, sorry bro. At least I shared something rather than just asking something. See you later
you cant really share something that have been said billion times… just saying
I’ve been watching Uryo play decapre and I’m trying to pull of cr.mk into light daggers in a blockstring but it’s REALLY difficult for me to position my hand in a way that it allows me to do cr.lk cr. lp cr.mk - light daggers because I have to position my thumb over crouching short and then plink cr.mk and lp into hands in less than a split second, anyone know an efficient way to do hands in a blockstring or after a frame trap?
i don’t think i quite understand your issue. depending on the situation i might plink lk~lp with the index finger on lk and middle finger on lp and then press lp again with the index finger, i might press lk with the thumb and lp with the index finger or i might press both lk and lp with the index finger, but i haven’t experienced any issues getting my thumb back into a position to press mk. i even tried pressing both lk and lp with my thumb to make sure it was absolutely in the most retarded position possible and i still had more issues doing it too quickly (chaining another jab) than too late.
I got it now, the reason why it was so difficult for me to do it during blockstrings was because I was pressing my buttons too hard mostly because my previous stick had these mechanical keyboard type buttons which you had to tap quite hard, I tried doing the same thing with Gen (mk hands) and it works 90% of the time too, my issue was that I couldnt get hands out in time during a blockstring since I spent too much focus on hitting my buttons when it’s a lot easier to just do fluently
My method of cr.mk -> light hands is plinking cr.mk with lp, then mp, lp, mp, lp (Thumb for the mk, index for the lp, middle finger for the mp)
For mp -> light hands, I plink mp with lp, then lp, mp, lp
Works 99% of the time for me lol
i dont know how ppl use their thumb for pressing anything besides LK
my best way is still **MK+LP HP LP HP LP **using your index finger to press MK + LP at the same time
methods using MP are asking to burn 2/3 bars on red focus
angle your wrist when you want to hands. was playing around with some other methods that work great in training mode but require too much movement away from your “home row” positioning, cant be focusing on that shit in the heat fo battle. biggest issue is sometimes you miss the mk and a string of jabs fly out leaving you in a bad spot, the better angle you can get on your wrist the better you chances.
so anyway to answer your question in a string i go LP+LK (index + middle), LP (index), angle wrist - CR MK + LP (index) xx dagger.
So how do you do raw hands without being obvious
Dash. Orrrrrr just space your cr.mk xx hands like a normal, non-insane person lol.
Do it when no inputs would normally be coming out, such as in the start of the match, or during ultras

So how do you do raw hands without being obvious
during blockstrings
If you want to do raw hands without being obvious hide the charge with a normal you might normally whiff, but only one. This is where sliding is strong. You could store the inputs walk a tiny bit then hit jab.
Or whiff lots of stuff, all the time. Now it looks like you’re always about to do raw hands!
I can do mp into lp hands 100% of the time, but I cannot seem to nail mk into lp hands at all consistently. I heard gootecks say on stream the other day about how binding MK to the usual 3P position but on PC you cannot bind the same input to two buttons is there any way at all to do it if you’re not on console? The method I saw k-brad show in an older video is just too hard to make all the time.
i wouldnt fuck with that gootecks shit, in the lab its great but in practice you want to be able to use the same button for MK that you would always use otherwise why even have the original one there? read the entire thread and try every method and find which one works best for you or come up with your own like i did. test it in-game its pretty useless if you have to think too hard about it
gootecks and k-brad both seem to have pretty poor hands execution so i wouldn’t put too much stock in their advice. either just try all the methods and stick with whatever is the most comfortable or if none feel comfortable, just pick one and grind it out. hands is weird in the sense that it’s really, really difficult to do, until it’s not. just have to grind it out. also pay attention to your inputs so you can figure out what to fix. are you missing inputs? simultaneous inputs? wrong inputs alltogether? right inputs but too slow?
Honestly I haven’t once managed to get cr.MK into LP hands the way K-brad recommended in the cross counter tutorial. During an excellent adventures episode, Flash Metroid pointed out that Decapre’s cr.MK has a fairly long cancel window, which is true. With that in mind, what I do is simply input cr.MK and then quickly slide my index finger from LP to HP and backwards. It’s easier than anything else I’ve tried and with practice it’s perfectly doable. If your fingers get sore from doing this use a OHT-style glove and you’re pretty much set. Can’t go wrong with this one tbh.
