Halo Thread: Games, TV, Movies and Books

SWAT looks sick

Just read that you need to grind out perks in Halo 4. Game devs do this, reviewers call it “deep,” gamers eat this shit up. Fuck me. Seriously 343, Halo Reach did it right; you grind out aesthetic perks only, not gameplay-changing ones. Ugh.

Hypocrisy Install: I’m still buying the game.

Haven’'t played it but GiantBomb summed up what I and everyone else was expecting: Another shitty campaign, and the same damn game play just with better graphics. At least muliplayer sounds cool since the sluggish pace of Halo (one of several serious flaws it’s always had) has been corrected by universal infinite sprint. The sluggish pace of Halo was always my biggest complaint and with that fixed I’ll probably get it since I haven’t played a Halo game since 3.

“I felt like much of the promise inherent to this potentially new setting had been squandered. Maybe that’s on me for wanting Halo to be something other than Halo,”

 Gerstmann get out of my brain!

sounds like GB doesn’t like halo.
no mention of how the AI kick your ass, just you shoot and then let your shield recharge., lol. Not sure if he is implying anything.
With all the negativity i don’t know why he gave it a 4.
The comments are funny. "He didn’t call out mortal kombat for being too mortal Kombat"
The only reviewers I care about is Gametrailers as I feel like they love games and take what the do seriously. Sometimes it hard to give ‘X’ all your love when you just got your personal copy of “z.”

I hear Halo 4 is just as badass a Halo 2. Its gettin great reviews, and the gameplay vids looks pretty cool. This will probably make me start playing my 360 again

As a former FPS lover I’ve never really been into Halo as much as most people it’s the SF4 of FPS except it has good netcode:rofl: But in a casual sort of way Halo has always been fun if I feel like running around and killing people, just doesn’t have the depth of other FPS I’m used to so I never put a whole lot of time into it. Even when everyone was on Halo 2’s dick in it’s heyday I played it for maybe an hour or two a week. Lockout is one of the most GDLK maps in any FPS though for sure.

Also am I the only person who cares about single player?

How did you get that GB folks don’t like Halo? Gerstmann’s main complaint about 4 was that the nuts and bolts game play and overall feel is exactly the same as all the other ones. AKA he thinks halo hasn’t made any real changes since it’s inception it’s just the same shit all over again which he comments is especially sad because the new story line gave 343 an opportunity to take the franchise and formula in a new direction but instead they waste it. I haven’t played H4 yet so I can’t comment on the game itself but I do know that I’ll be disappointed if H4 feels like 99% the same as the others.

I guess you wouldn’t be able to understand why so many people even former fans of COD are mad at what activision is doing with the franchise. Sure we all understand to not fix what isn’t broke but to play it too sake constantly over the years is disheartening to many people.

Also :lol::rofl: @ GT being the only “honest” reviewers, try posting that shit in the lounge and I guarantee you’ll get hit with so many “GT are paid off” responses you would think you ventured into the dark nether regions of neogaf.

Yeah Single Player is nice because I’m not too much on my feet at all times.

I can wipe an area and take my time to stock up on every gun. Decked out in useless shit like Sniper Rifles and Rocket Launchers, and I shoot all my extra ammo to take the last bits of ammo in an area. Bad habit. Can’t do that in Multiplayer, I usually lose the PW really quick.

Also, I used to think MC under the mask was the player’s face themselves, where as everyone is MC. But apparently he’s Kratos/Shepard/Soap/Bald/Picard.

you lie to me…

you die. :coffee:

I heard, don’t know if its true. lol

I’ve never heard anyone in the lounge cite GT exclusively as paid off. Aside fro our penchant to label everyone under that umbrella I find it interesting you think the Lounge would take particular umbrage against them. As a lounge regular I find GTs video reviews pretty informative, usually with video evidence to back up their claims as they make them.

Does anyone know where the best Halo forums are? Would they just be the ones on Bungie.net or whatever?

Joke review. Iron sights lmao. Halo of Duty. I like CoD, but fuck its a cancer that is spreading.

"

These low points are openly exacerbated by the series’ staunch refusal to get with the times when it comes to game mechanics and level design, ignoring obvious enhancements like big-ticket sequences and proper iron-sights mechanics in favor of their age-old addiction to slow, methodical combat in unnecessarily large environments. And while I get that 343i was deathly afraid to come in and mess with the elements most consider Halo canon, it’s a lot to ask of us who play other games in the genre to continue to stomach a core most left behind half a decade ago. Mind you, some folks might find the videogame equivalent of being forced to eat your vegetables a comforting alternative to Microsoft putting a dash of modern in their combat, but when stacked up to Dishonored, Far Cry 3, and Black Ops II, Halo 4’s campaign feels as empty and uninspired as its strong, silent protagonist.

So I went and read Giantbomb’s review and if I hadn’t I would have expected some middling scores based on what you said but it got a 4/5 stqars or 8/10 if you look at it that way. I just find it funny how people can read one thing then cite it and spin it into something else.

So I just learned that this game isn’t going to have a visual ranking system anymore. What the fuck?

…Spartans don’t need iron sights :coffee:

That’s a joke review? It’s pretty fucking spot on, I never realized it until I read it but yeah the sluggish movement of Halo itself didn’t bother me as much as it in tandem with the huge open environments which only highlight the slow pace. That has been by far the biggest flaw in an otherwise great multiplayer franchise.

You guys better not be lying about the campaign not being ass ot else I’ll neg bomb the…oh wait:oops:

oh wow waiting for this game to change host is painfully long
