Halo Reach: Always Out Numbered But Never Out Gunned

The lower number of bullets per clip could be down to cannon, since these are prototype weapons to what we saw in Halo 3. But saying that I hate having to reload on covy weapons, it makes no sense that they carry clips aswell, it should be all recharging like the beam rifle (way cooler imo)

Those of you saying that some of the weapons need to be stronger or have larger clips need to work on your accuracy, no offense.

The only weapon in the beta I think could use a “damage-per-bullet” buff would be the AR, just to give it a better chance against the Pistol, because in the hands of a couple of good players, there’s no beating a Pistol with an AR, no matter how good you are at feathering the trigger.

[EDIT] - And I can’t believe some of you are praising Halo 2 as the best in the series. I know there were a lot of SRKers having a blast with Zombies, and I had my fun too, but… Wow.

My accuracy was just fine in H1 and H2.

They increase the number of headshots from 3 to 5 and lower the number of rounds in a the clip.

It’s stupid. Especially since they use teammates as spawn points now.

according to some fan sites, modders were combing over the beta’s code and found a reference to an armor ability that does that

How long has it been since you’ve played Halo CE? Almost everybody’s accuracy was well enough in Halo 2, as the game did half the work for you. Auto-aim and bullet magnetism was ridiculously high in Halo 2, and reduced in Halo 3 ever so slightly. Reach is the closest it’s ever been to Halo CE’s standards, and kills feel a hell of a lot more gratifying to me because of it.

The lower weapon damage does more than just “require more accuracy.” It also increases the efficiency/need to team up on people, and makes the grenades and power weapons even more powerful because they can still kill quickly.

I was really hoping the game would be more like Halo 1. In a lot of ways it is, but it still mostly just feels like Halo 3 with lower weapon damage and annoying armor abilities. I’ll keep an open mind, but the way it is right now I would still rather play a rerelease of Halo 1 with online play.

Pick up the focus beam and tell me there isn’t any auto-aim. The thing practically sticks to them. I’m getting a little better on my accuracy or better said my timing as my accuracy’s fine. I kept spamming the pistol just to get killed by some dude who took his time. I do that now and it feels much better. I really hope they add something to the sniper headshots though, maybe the dude shouting “headshot!” or something cause I don’t like how it is right now.

Graphics look the same as Halo3 anyways. I wouldn’t like Halo1 at this point due to the snail like movement. Also, has anyone else noticed that the sensivity isn’t the same as the other games? I’m at 10 and it feels a little like Halo2/3 7-8 sensitivity. Not that I’m insanely accurate with 10 but the turning and stuff is a little slow.

this this this. Needler Rifle isn’t terrible, but holy shit am I pissed whenever I pick it up. Close range its POINTLESS, medium range it loses to virtually everything.

I wasn’t that impressed with the level design either, to be honest.

This to the T.

Although, some of my complaints have subsided now that I’ve had the opportunity to get a good team going. Add an option to toggle armor abilities and there could be some potential.

Slayer Pro is great. It’s too bad they got the shitty “Radar enabled slayer that encourages camping/sprinting with the hammer” as the default in the arena currently. I’m amazed that people still can’t seem to play with radar. Stop being such bitches.

Just come off a session of Invasion! Gametype is so much fun, if only they could fix the lag problems it would be epic. Only thing sucks is as an elite you don’t board the ship to fly off with the cell

Not my game type. I only played 2 games and barely knew what was going on but didn’t care for it. Also, didn’t they say that the elites were supposed to be the speed of a sprinting Spartan? Yet, I caught up to one no prob. so maybe that’s something that they haven’t placed in yet. idk

Need more non-randoms to run with.

Add me.

Does the armor lock emp affect your teammates as well? I haven’t noticed yet but it’s a good thing to know.

Yeah I don’t care for Halo 3 but Halo Reach is awesome.
It’s alot more balanced and fun, and finally something to replace MW2.

Kinda, I like it more than Halo 3  it’s still a bit different than MW2 but has some elements built into it.
I prefer Guard and Airborne for some reason, but my m8s prefer scout O.o (I didn’t find a good use for scout yet xD)

@Fobio: I think it doesn’t, my friend uses guard too and I’m a bullet catcher, when I EMP he doesn’t get hurt…might differ from game modes though.

I’m not really feelin’ Invasion that much. It’s not that bad, but, meh.

I’d prefer it if you didn’t have to stay in that king of the hill type thing and just plant something but I guess they couldn’t completely rip off bad company 2. I’m bored of these maps now so I guess I’ll have to wait till the real game comes out.

IMO, it’s too easy for Spartans to win in the Invasion. Unless you’re really coordinated, it’s hard to beat the third part of the level (carrying out that device). Last time my team easily lost the first two parts but destroyed them via armor lock + shotgun. Maybe if the weapons didn’t drop after you died so shotguns and swords aren’t close by it’d be more difficult for the Spartans. Or maybe having their respawn point somewhere else so they don’t instantly appear at that device whereas Elites have to run there.

Well, just came across something that’ll make this game horrible if it’s in the real game which probably will; modders. Played a team who either removed the bloom on there guns or added more auto-aim either way I was getting killed across the map with pistols faster than I could shoot 2 dmr bullets.

I checked on youtube and there’s a bunch of mods for this already. :shake:

Sprint will help get you to power weapons faster. Don’t forget, this is still Halo. I shouldn’t need to say anything else beyond that.
