Okay after some careful thought, we’ve come up with this:
Instead of an xbox360 for first, we will upgrade to a PS3 40gb refurb [factory sealed, ordered direct from Sony Style].
We’ll give away 2 of the XBOX360 consoles that are being used for the tournaments… everyone that enters the tournament will get their name in a raffle… at the end of the tournament we’ll pick 2 names out of a hat… the 2 raffle winners will receive one of the XBOX consoles being used throughout the night.
We will not be selling raffle tickets… these 2 XBOX360 consoles are strictly for the people in the tournament.
Sound good?
well not really. Some people like to think of it as a rave but it’s really much more then that. The word “rave” has traditionally meant one of 2 things:
In the ninties, the word ‘rave’ was associated with a party where people went to do Ecstasy.
In the 2000s [now] it’s usually means a massive all night concert in a huge stadium that costs ridiculous amounts of money.
I used to go to raves in the mid to late nineties, but I was always into the more experimental music, which has always been a little too edgy for the ‘rave’ scene. That’s why we started doing what we do, and that’s the kind of music that our crowd is into. Our crowd is far more into alcohol then party drugs… mostly mid 20s to mid 30s age range… not exactly into the idea of partying with 15 year old kids [which is what ‘raves’ are filled with]
Most of the music we’re into isn’t really ‘rave’ material… we do have a jungle room [drum and bass] which is pretty typical for some raves but that’s probably the closest you can get. Raves haven’t really even opened up to DUBSTEP as of yet, although it seems they’re heading that way. We have one of the most amazing DUBSTEP lineups [and sound system] there is.
edit: We tried recording the screen with 2 different kinds of digital cameras and neither of them could vividly pick up the left eye picture… probably because I’m just using a camera aimed at the screen.
A friend of mine is bringing over a much better camera thursday afternoon. If that one doesn’t reap better results, I’ll just post the blurry ones I have now.
Both Street Fighter 4 [the entire game] and Marvel vs Capcom 2 [all level backgrounds] utilize their respective hareware’s Graphics Processors’ 3D rendering capabilities to generate the game view [including depth], and draw a standard 2D perspecitive on your display. By using some of the most cutting edge multi-core Graphics Processors [GTX 295], it’s possible to render any 3D game [directx or opengl based] with 2 completely different views generated at exactly 2.5 inches apart [the distance between human eyes], creating true stereoscopic 3D.
[NVidia calls it 3D Vision]
I’ve been playing SF4 since it first came out and when we got our hands on the 3D setup, it literally made it an entirely new game all over again.
These are the only 2 SF games that use hardware 3D accelleration… the older EX series didn’t have any type of hardware 3D acceleration so no luck with those.
sounds cool, thanks for the quick reply!
cant wait to see it in person
I just wanted you to clarify one more thing.
Is event admission 20 dollars? Plus an extra 10 dollars for the tournament?
So if we want to play in the tournament we have to pay 30 dollars?
Yes. the $20 gets you admission to the event, which goes until 5am, your 3D glasses… 5 rooms of serious audio… 3D visuals in every room…
It’s a really fun time.
Also, just so you can see what it looks like, you can go to NVidia’s page below and click on the THUMBNAILS of the game screenshots. They don’t have SF4 up there but you will get an idea of what it is.

“The tournament will be played on four xbox360 stations with Panasonic AX200U HD Projectors [6000:1 contrast ratio] on 108” screens
If we have a large number of entrants, we’ll add four more setups with 28" 1080p LCDs for the first 2 rounds"
Did you test lag on your projector/1080P set ups?
And if for some reason your calculations were incorrect (after myself or another seasoned tournament player tests them), what would be the verdict?
wtf. seth is banned? L()Lz i barely see ANYBODY and i do mean ANYBODY maybe 2-3 seth players online and they gotta ban seth and gouken from this event? its not our fault that us seth players and gouken players dont have too many for you guys to understand how to play that match against our character that well so everyone who doesnt use them juss say ohh fuck it ban them. Or maybe its because you guys cant even unlock gouken and seth
