lol not bad. Interesting to see a player show improvement with a character they presumably know little about. I only watched the first set, and the last 3 sets, but he seemed to be improving. I kind of think of Hakan as a counter pick to Dhalsim, but one has to really know how to play Hakan in order to beat Sim. Good stuff.
he won 7-3… and he is learning Hakan to help me out. He may not be doing gimmicks, but he knows what he is doing.
Thanks for these. Will check them out along with the other vids posted when I have a chance.
@Liquigen: Nice work. Try hooking up your S-Video switch directly to the microphone port on your laptop to get some audio and make sure you play around with the settings in order to minimize as much distortion as possible.
@bubafeast: Good to see more and more players finally taking an interest in Hakan.
Alright. I’ll try screwing around with that later tonight.
And I would personally say the Ibuki matchup is even. Going from my experience, anyway; your footsies are so much better than hers, and the damage she takes helps a ton. Just be smart about it and get hit with dumb stuff (like I do).

Jump carefully. You got AA’ed most of time you did.
During the 1:20-1:27 you seemed to crack under pressure from Rog’s dash punch. Punish them with slide and keep yourself composed. This is only based on an assumption though.
Were you expecting him to jump at 1:47?
He was very repetitive around 2:57-3:05. Punish his jump in with an airthrow, grab or lp slide. The airthrow though isn’t that safe and neither is the grab since you weren’t oiled.
Can’t remember the time but you seemed to miss a J.MP juggle to slide.
You had lots of meter, use it. But not randomly like 4:25. Did you think he was gonna do something?
Oh yeah, when you slide, make sure it’s completely safe. It cost you the last round.
I dunno though, I’m not very good at Hakan so there’s probably more the others could tell you.
exactly, styles needs to rank up, im tired of seeing all these vids against zero point sagats, and guys. get some points then we can see your true talents. i do like the barrel roles though.
You mean like this?

Or maybe this would suffice?

Or how about this?

Or you may want to take a moment to actually check out the number of recent vids of which I happened to upload (url on my sig btw) over the last couple of months which coincidentally is around the same period of time of which that very post ,the one you decided to quote for no particular reason, was written. Not sure what purpose your mini critique seemed to serve or how it’s relevant to recent events that have been documented in this thread but please do a bit of research before deciding to call someone out for no apparent reason other than to stroke your own “E-peen”.
BTW I have no desire to toot my own horn here. My main reason for posting these matches are to showcase some of Hakan’s potential as a character along with acquiring as much feedback/tips as possible from the top braintrust of SRK which in turn has proved to be extremely vital to the success that I’ve had so far.
Also stop placing so much emphasis on BP’s as a way to determine the legitimacy of a player. I’ve come across plenty of 0 BP opponents who have displayed 10X more skill than several supposed B+ ranked elites.
Longshot, add me on XBL. I do believe some games are required just bcause they are.
Also, you kno the Bison matchup. I don’t. ffffff
Picked up hakan about 2 weeks ago. I’m thinking of using him over Rufus haha go figure.

Not the best OS in the world but hey, its better than what i WAS going to use rofl
And also help is needed, read the descriptionz.
Hey you didn’t do bad. I think a lot of what you need is to gain is match-up experience, along with figuring out which ranges/strengths of slide will leave you safe to reversals. Unfortunately it looked like even jab slide wasn’t safe on block to that end game headbutt.
I think you should’ve worked on baiting out that headbutt by whiffing light normals, or used guard position with a 360 follow-up. Balrog almost lost that round, so he had a lot less to lose by doing even a random headbutt instead of a punish headbutt. Case in point, Hakan’s random slide is similar to Balrog’s random headbutt. The difference is that you can tell when he’s charging for it by his crouching.
You say that Balrog tests your patience, but you can do the same to him. Like instead of running away in that final round, just stay close and ready yourself to counter. Your mere presence can put people, who are in a life deficit, on edge to the point where they’ll go for random and risky things.
Aside from that, I think you should only pick U1 against Balrog. Balrog doesn’t need to jump on you as much as other characters do, and there are plenty of U1 set-ups that charge characters are especially susceptible to.
I’m not sure I understand this OS. Rocket isn’t supposed to come out on hit, but on whiff instead? while on hit, a f.MK is the OS?
Negatory.
On backdash, the f.mk will tag Chun, (either blocked, counterhit, or jab trade (in favor anyway)). The j.mk will stuff ex sbk. On block (or hit) you can tick to 360. I’d like to make it so only on hit it attempts a jab or short, but I doubt thats possible anyway.
As I said it isnt the greatest but its there. I’m looking into better ones for various characters regardless.
Was checking out Friday Night Black out streams on jtv and saw some Hakan action.

Note: Below are the times in the video where Hakan shows up
~ 0:08:05
~ 1:22:55  (only one match as Hakan and he gets toasted. I really wanted to see some more sexy oily action)
This is the second fight on Friday (just started watching so I am not sure how far DSP goes or if anyone else used Hakan. If someone does then I will update this post accordingly).
When one of the commentators started saying Hakan was garbage () I was hoping DSP would pull a win (he did).
On a different note, after watching some Hakan videos I think I’ll pick him up. He looks like a lot of fun to use.
oh god not him again lmfao
DSP… ugh. the idea that some people may be looking at him and thinking he’s the big guy that’ll rep Hakan is… ugh. I don’t like him. I’ll just leave it at that. do not approve.
Exactly ^. Worse is when they think you main Hakan because of him. Yes, because I like j.rh so much.
Anything that can add to what is already a potent vortex is definitely a good thing. There was always something about the F + MK (standing RH as well) that had me thinking of the many different ways that it can be useful due to how it advances Hakan a couple of pixels forward. Nice find Liquigen, this could come in very handy. Feel free to send me a friend request so we can get some matches going and if you need some reps against specific characters I’ll be more than happy to ablige.
One little simple yet very effective tactic that I also stumbled upon recently was post OS immediately holding up/fwd (similar to NOS99’s tactic after a successfully landed low RH or oiled up standing RH) to jump over your opponent as they’re getting up. In some cases ,such as against charge characters, certain reversals will be either much more difficult or impossible to execute. Plus it’s just another way of putting some added pressure on your opponent in order to bait those reversals. So far I’ve had some success following it up with an early lwd fwd into OS and I’ve even caught several players with short DDT’s as they’re trying to escape. Feel free to play around with this a bit to see what other options he may have, hopefully you’ll come across something I haven’t discovered yet.
