learned some good stuff from that. Never used those light punches other then the Hakan Smash but now I see some use for them.
This guy takes a lot of risk too and he doesn’t use oil wonder why that is. He’s near top so he must be darn good can’t really question him as to if he’s smart or silly for not using it. I would love to know why he doesn’t tho.
Can’t get it to work for me. I’m guessing I need an account in order to be able to watch it. If by any chance you could Youtube the clip it would much appreciated. Always interested in seeing a top Japanese Hakan player.
i assume this guy force himself to not use OIL and then wanna integrate it in his gameplay… everything else would be plain stupid^^
but i like the block strings and counterhits he archive definitly something i need to build into my game like lk–lp–F+MP
EDIT: watched it till the end and there is realy much i can learn from it specialy about pressure with lp/lk and Focus atacks (a part i realy need to learn) even so i see flaws in his footsy game its ways better then mine;) but im the better grappler WUHAAA;)
Since Hakan has more trouble dealing with stuff unoiled, I would guess it’s because he’s practicing how to play without using oil in case he ever needs to play for an extended period without oil.
i guess kinyoubi is not a fan of DDT as not 1 was pulled off in any of those matches. Also nice to see him frequently use empty jump cross up after slide, which is still a habit i do with my hakan play.
well it’s a good habit vs charge characters as long as you can safe jump.
And I think that Hakan player is doing the right thing by playing mostly a dry Hakan. it’s not that he’s gotten few opportunities to oil, but he’s probably learning Hakan fundamentals a lot faster without oil. Yes oil is fundamental, but you know what I mean. That player made great use of normals.
The real grappler in the japanese video is vega without doubt. Sad to say that most of the people does thick throws to hakan (a grappler…) or just walk in front of him to do a grab! (do you think the most of the people try this against a zangief?). I think he does not use oil because is risky against claw (ex barcelona could hit you from above the screen even if you use lk oil). Nice pressure anyway and good use of slide and cancel.
Good stuff Dias. When Bison is pressuring you with pokes while he’s walking forward don’t be scared to punish him with a focus attack. Nothing he has without charge can break armor. Also, when you land a level one focus attack, always dash backwards, even on hit (if you’re oiled up, always dash forward becuase of dnc). When you’re oiled up, and bison comes down with a devil’s reverse full screen you can EX slide his ass. You had a full super meter at the end of the second round and didn’t bother to burn it. In the end of the second round he devil reversed in front of your face and you didn’t do shit, jab slide the shit out of bison when he does that. Against Hakan, Bison shouldn’t be doing devil’s reverse at ALL.
Also, when you have oil, you gotta get in that ass! In the second round you were down, oiled up, and with three stocks of meter. You could have gotten in easily with a slide fadc dnc into a tick for EX grab which would have given you slight lead.
Don’t be afraid to burn meter. Hakan is a meter building MACHINE. Burn that fucking meter all you want!
Towards the end of the first round, Bison was trying to chip you away with psycho crusher, in the end you prevailed but it was real fucking close. If you think Bison is going to psycho crusher you on wakeup walk back a bit and do a jump back roundhouse, it’ll stuff it.
One more thing, which is most important: You need to take advantage of your knockdowns. At the end of the first round you landed a slide+press but all you ended up doing was walking backwards afterwards. Knockdowns are important, ESPECIALLY for Hakan since it starts his guessing game vortex. If you’re not going for a DDT/Grab/Bait setup you might as well at least oil up. Never just walk backwards towards the corner after scoring a knockdown.
Datui (don’t recognize the name, so I don’t think he’s an arcade player like Kinyoubi) vs Daigo. Nothing surprising here, but some very solid play from the Hakan player.
Great Hakan. The best match video I’ve seen. He used everything, safe slide setups and baited a dragon punch with a fake DDT setup. His spacing was perfect, that slide really looked like it was going to make contact but it whiffed instead. Awesome Hakan.
Very nice Hakan indeed. That bandwagon will be filling up in no time. Interesting how the Japanese Hakan players’ dependence on oiling up is very minimal while obviously opting for DDT loop mind game mixups and meaty slides. Loved the dash into meaty slide, slide FADC into ex oil rocket, really loved the coward crouch into EX oil rocket and I especially liked the perfectly timed whiffed slide into Ultra 1 FTW.
A couple more matches up. As usual constructive feedback is always welcome.

Also re-edited and re-uploaded some older clips as well.
Lol Longshot, I was hoping to see a super sometime the way you were hoarding meter. I mean, no EX slide through random sonic hurricane? You gotta teach people that’s not a good strategy. HK Super could work against it, and it seems likely EX Oil could be a beneficial option by giving you massive oil time along with not having to suffer chip damage.
Also against Guile when you’re oiled, he can’t do any “block strings” haphazardly. I’ve played against another Hakan who showed me normal oiled rocket is a fantastic counter specifically to a blocked Guile LP followed by overhead or s.HP. You could’ve used Oiled rocket against those overused sweeps as well. They never hit you as far as I saw, but you gotta show them it’s BAD to use.
Some people see Hakan move and try to reversal on reaction. The coward crouch is probably the reason why the bait worked in the first place, if you just sit there and block then you don’t give your opponent a reason to throw a reversal on their wakeup.
