Yeah, I let people jump in on me all day like that in the corner because I’m a scrub. Honestly there are at least a few options I have that can deal with that sort of pressure, I just decided to take the option of letting myself into the corner and put myself in blockstun for half the round.
Does it for sure now? Which slide? And oiled, non-oiled, or either?
I ask because I fought an E.Honda online the other day, I know online, right?, and he headbutted me out of everything. And I’m pretty sure that I attempted slides at a few points, but never was able to reach him in time. =[ The match felt really one sided because of that…\
After testing a bit it I was able to punish HP headbutt with either HP slide or oily EX slide. I couldn’t get any slides to work on LP, MP, or EX headbutt, but maybe my timing is off.
yeah I can confirm it. I tested it on a Honda whom I recorded to Headbutt then block and I was able to punish. The timing isn’t to strict either but you want to make sure you do it pretty much after the headbutt.
That’s great because the last Honda I fought just spam headbutt on me and I didn’t know this until now.
I’ve tried that new tech of UltraDavid’s in my online matches and it works! You can backdash after the S+BB then do a HP 360K on there wake up. Also after a trip you can cr.mp then lp 360K. UD mention this in his video but the way I looked at it was if the opponent sees you doing the 360K motion they’ll know to punish so you want to hide this as much as possible which isn’t to hard.
but then again I’m not sure if this stuff DP (I doubt tho) the players I fought I had them so they wouldn’t DP me much on wake up because of the many times I’ve punished them for it but then again I do backdash after my S+BB so they think I’m out of DP range and won’t come back in for attack.
First, great match. I loved watching you tear that Rog apart. You should pick his colors 5 and 9 in his alt costume for me, I’d really like to see those purples, please. ;D
Second, which slides and which headbutts from the Honda did you test? Oiled or unoiled? I’ll try myself sometime eventually. I just do a lot more theory fighting than in-game fighting. =[
Third, what does DDT stand for anyway? I know of a bunch of acronyms for SF, but I guess I haven’t seen that yet. Same goes for S+BB?
Only works on Hard version headbutts and it works oiled and unoiled. I just do the hard version slide to punish.
Haven’t tried the other colors for Hakan. Yellow and Orange are my favorite colors so when I see that I go for it lol but I did look at the purple one. Looks silly lol.
Not sure what DDT stands for been wondering that myself the move is called “Oil Dive” yet they came up with DDT don’t know why but when you see DDT just think 360K
Also. UltraDavid’s new trick doesn’t seem to work on Blanka and Honda. I can get it to work on everyone else just fine. Again could be my timing.
Yeah, the Oil Dive is not a DDT in the literal sense. I just figured it was being called that because of Alex or something, who had a real DDT (even though the motion was actually :hcb:+K, but close enough).
Yeah I think it was called a DDT because of Alex’s which has the same throw-like properties, might have been Seth himself who “coined” the term for Hakan’s Oil Dive.
Wow, great matches, folks! I’ve definitely learned a thing or two.
You know, I’ve got a video where I fought a pretty good Dhalsim that was kicking my ass, but I managed to make a three round comeback and beat him. I don’t really have any video posting capability, which is really sad because I would REALLY like to post that matchup. I don’t know if you folks would think the Dhalsim was that good, but I thought so. He pulled off a pretty impressive link to Yoga Inferno in the final round, among other things.
I think it may also depend on how they get up. Like when they’re face up, feet toward you, Ryu’s “flip up” animation seems more difficult to DDT than, say, Viper’s “plain stand up” animation.
EDIT: taking advantage of this is a nice set up: 360+LK, jump over them so their head is facing you on wakeup, land do standing MK (whiff), another 360+LK
