Hakan(Dias) vs Ken

nice match man you really recovered well from the first round, nice use of the 360p I am surprised it worked so well against him with all the jabs/shorts he was throwing out but I guess it was your timing more than anything, I have a hard time getting 360p to work with Hakan like it does with Hawk or Gief but you seemed to do a decent approximation even without oil
lostshore that was a good comeback twice i thought ud lost and u managed to comeback liked the cc under rogs punch to 360p very nice i think ur being abit harsh on urself you did well.
anyone have any jap. hakan videos yet?
I think it’s a 2 hit combo, haven’t tried it for a long time. But I usually do it too slow.

good shit
just keep cool when you’re getting rushed down. you took a lot of damage in the beginning because you were either pushing buttons or trying to jump away. also, after slide, go for light oil, you should be safe from all of ken’s options. not only do you get to oil up but you put you and your opponent in a guessing game.
good air grab in the beginning of round 2. round 2 was awesome, Hakan is a beast once he gets the ball rolling.
punish whiffed shoryuken harder, low forward into slide is a great punish, and does more damage than a simple sweep.
take more opportunities to oil up, such as after an air grab at least do a light oil. Hakan’s mix-up is amazing on his opponent’s wake-up, I didn’t see you take advantage of knockdowns too much in the match. when you net a knockdown oil up and get in that ass. dnc into low short or go for the grab. good shit dias!
Nice to see some liberal use of 360P, as mentioned by Gaoser you could take more opportunities to re-oil, if you LK oil after slide->splash you are safe from any reversal Ken can throw at you and sets up a dangerous position for him where you can go one of three ways (360P/U1, 360K/air grab, normals).
You could use some more attempts at anti air as you mainly let him jump in on you freely, at deep jump-in range f-LP is generally your best bet but don’t rule out HP. Again as mentioned try to use a better punish for blocked DPs.
Just got back from Fedex Fightnight, here’s the session:
various matches between my Hakan and some of the finest from socal. some solid matches, many very bad matches (those viper matches in the first few minutes make me cringe). watching myself play, I realize that there is much I need to work on. I missed a lot of big damage opportunities: landing a jump in roundhouse and following up with… standing strong?? execution-wise I messed up a lot of 360’s and just got a normal (and sometimes even jumping jab, see the match against warahk’s guile where I try to grab and end up jumping into the corner). Also, I press a lot of buttons while on defense, resulting in me taking huge amounts of damage where I shouldn’t have, as well as getting out of corner situations (see match between my hakan and tvn’s rose). I need to also utilize knockdown’s more often by oiling up, I realized there were many chances that I could do so and I didn’t take them. Hakan practically has no pressure game unoiled.
In short, i’m still a scrub. I have A LOT to work on.
Also, I can’t hold a lead for the life of me :[ (see 2:30:00)
gaoser I watched your fight against that Rose that did the frame trap and I went ahead and threw my joystick in frustration but there were definitely moments where you
shined in your various fights now I understand what you have been saying about Hakan and pressure especially unoiled
Thanks I did do some panicking when he was pressuring me. I need to learn to AA better without leaving the ground so much. Went to training mode and when he crosses me up I can do standing HP it seems so ima try that on the next shoto who goes for a cross up. Still getting used to punishing opponents on there wake up. Its kinda hard for me against shotos really because I fear that DP and so many shotos throw them out randomly its hard to get a feel as to when they’ll do it.
Thanks for the suggestions and advice everyone and thanks for watching my vids!
the best way to guarantee they will throw that DP on wakeup is to eat one or two of them
Watched some of your vids and I must say I’m going to add some of your tricks to my gameplay! Is FedEx the FedEx I’m thinking of? Like the guys who deliver stuff? Your job must rock if they let you guys play videogames!
Haha thanks, I’m flattered
many of the gimmicks didn’t even show up until matches past what was streamed, i wish i could show them to you :p. many of them were copy pasta from this forum as well as replay videos of Hakans on xbox live.
Yeah it is at a Fedex, and the guys (wakasashe and risingtied) who run it are a couple of employees who are a part of the community and are kind enough to rent out the conference room for the whole evening for casuals. We get quite a good number of people (usually around 20) and the place is packed. We’ll get around 4-6 setups and just play the night away. The competition is awesome as well, as some of the best of socal swing by to play.
Viper is another pretty ridiculous match-up, thanks to full screen seismos that can stop oiling up on reaction, and rush-down that is very difficult to stop.
Some genius thought it was a good idea to classify burning kicks as projectiles, so if you try to beat her wake-up pressure with a reversal super, you actually have to guess between doing a HK Super (to avoid BKs) and a LK Super (to avoid everything else) in a split second. Extremely High Risk / Sorta high reward.
BTW, here’s a real life Hakan 360+K

Why can’t Hakan’s have startup that fast?
And, look at the range on this one:

Is that 1+0 startup?
Maybe in SSF4T…
EDIT: My bad, that second one was actually Abel’s new Ultra.
Good stuff in general, when you’re under a lot of pressure and want them to back off I’ve actually had decent success with s.LP and s.MP over c.MP, while c.MP is a decent poke I’ve found it losing out to close range stuff but s.LP reaches over a lot of crouching normals and you can link it into more LPs and MP for ok damage and more importantly getting them off you.
My only real criticism is anti air as you let people neutral jump all day on you, I have problems with that myself and its tough to switch on in time to stop
I stuffed a Honda headbutt with a cr.short once, is that weird?
you can stuff it pretty reliably with f-LP, though if its anything but an LP headbutt I’d rather block it and get my free slide.
DDT setups! These work for both Oilkan and Drykan, and they’re not exhaustive:
Hey David, a little thing I found a while ago. When a person’s waking up, they don’t always have that standing hitbox where you can hooligan them. My theory is that it depends on how the opponent is laying down.
You can hooligan them if they are on the floor with the position of face-up feet-toward or face-down feet-away.
The other two positions (face-up feet away and face-down feet-towards) allow the opponent to go straight into crouch block.
The way I tested is to get the knockdown, then do a meaty (with the opponent set to no block), and see if they get hit standing or crouching. You’ll see that the positions that they are laying down in will determine their state.
It is NOT determined by the move that you knock downed with. For example, if you get a knockdown and you can hooligan on their wake up, then if you do that same knockdown and cross up you will not be able to hooligan because the opponent is now waking up in an instant crouch state.
All of Hakan’s knockdowns grants hooligan-able knockdowns except for DDT itself. So, uncrouchable DDT to DDT loops are not possible.
