Don’t forget Goro on most of the KoF’s titles. Also Clark.
First time poster, but I wanted to sound off as one who will stick With Hakan regardless of the current disparity.
After getting my ass rushed down all last night, I learned that Hakan can’t punish shit unless he’s oiled up…
which was almost never lol
It would have been nice to have SOME kind of punish while un-oiled. It seems like everything’s so poorly designed - Oil takes forever to apply, doesn’t stack more than once on LK (that we know), and without it, he’s useless. Doesn’t even have any good avoidance/keep-away tactics to get oiled up. So it’s like… get lucky and hope they don’t take off half your life in a combo while you try to oil up? Is that really what it’s like?
or u could u know…play footsies and react to a jump/attack attempt with hakans plethora of seemingly high priority moves? hell use his FA as well…
unoil state = play keepaway till u score a knockdown then oil up and resume rushdown
i mean he has plenty of good lookin normals…sure they dont link into each other well or are viable in combos…but they look like good footsies tools
Don’t know if anyone mentioned this, but I have avidly been watching that teamspooky stream and finally saw some good/great Hakan play.
NerdJosh (I think thats his name) was playing a mean Hakan. He was doing very decently against blaze’s Guy, (which is really, really good). Played pretty aggressively, tons of normals, It looked like he used jumping med punch for a decent anti air, lots of ex throws then oil and then meaty fierce hits. Reminded me a bit of Honda.
Really awesome to see a good Hakan.
After three days of playing Hakan, I have to say that I’m feeling very comfortable with him. He still has extremely bad match-ups but he can definitely be competitive in high level play. I’m certain that I will stick with Hakan for quite a while at this point.
Also, this may come to a surprise to many of you, but Oil Coaster is definitely the better ultra. It makes Hakan scary up close, which slows down your opponent’s offense. OCH is great but the damage is very small, just not worth it in my opinion. Oil Coaster is the way to go.
Awesome to hear, Gaoser. Do you mind sharing anything you really like about Hakan?
Also, I noticed NerdJosh wasn’t hitting OCH much. I was thinking a lot of times Oil Coaster would be better for exchanges/up close too…cool to hear that.
The one thing I love about Hakan is his normals. Oiled up towards roundhouse is very satisfying to land. When your opponent gets knockdown it’s essentially a guessing game for them. Another knockdown nets you more oil. The challenge of keeping oiled up is very fun as well, although tough match-ups are extremely annoying. Also, landing oil grab is extremely satisfying as well. Once Hakan nets consecutive knockdowns you can literally feel your opponent starting to get a bit scared. It’s great to play a character with Honda like normals but with the capacity to press on offensively.
safe oil slide with fadc is extremely useful, since Hakan’s super sucks it’s definitely worth it. Empty slide shenanigans are also very interesting, but I have yet to fully test out the potential in it. Hakan’s basic combos into slide are great as well, as they net you a great amount of damage. I can’t get the numbers, because I’ve been only playing matches.
Thanks for all the info, Gaoser! Well this is what I was hoping for, some good reports! Glad to hear his normals are so good. As a Honda player myself, this is very encouraging
Thanks for the comments guy, its NerdJosh. I’ll be posting up some finding of mine once I get enough sleep lol. Going to try and cap some videos with my flip mobile of punishes and what not.
Great impressions, gaoser. Thank you!
NerdJosh, that would be awesome. Any tips or thoughts you have about Hakan would be appreciated as well.
from what i can tell, t.mp xx fierce slide -> body press does 317 damage. Certainly his bnb for many situations. If you land a focus, need to punish something from a slight distance, land a jump in with roundhouse, or are poking with this very safe attack, this will be your go to combo. The only time i would suggest using c.mk xx fierce slide -> body press would be if you land a jump in with mp as the start up on the c.mk is lower.
317 dmg? LOL^^sorry but lol it is 240^^ and you did not remember c.MK must blocked low^^ the good about f-mp is its range!
I lol’d at your handle, because over here in the OC we have an El Fuerte player named MinorThreat.
I heard that your Hakan is beastly, I’d like to see sometime. Did anyone record you playing?
EDIT: Contribute to the Movelist and Attributes thread if possible!!
i told you guys he isnt that bad
Haven’t played yet, but it seems like un-oiled Hakan only goal in life is to score that one knockdown as quickly and safely as possible. EX 360, air/regular throw, j.mp, sneaking in a slide combo. Knockdown leads to oil. Oil leads to “good Hakan.”
that may hit the point; and its fun lick hell to play a grappler and the enemy dont try to run instead he set you under pressure! thats awsome…
i realy hope he dooes not hafe 7:(8:2) or woers matchups! i would LOVE to main him if he had all 4:6 matchups!! honestly its fun like hell and he need much knowledge spezialy since his antiairs are totaly diffrent depending on enemys range oilstate and kind of atack F+MP as excample beats Zangiefs jumping MK (one of the better jumpins) CLEAN (unoiled) but lose to much else and so on
its a carakter without a combo but how need Knowledge, Skill to reakt with airjump ; 360+k(delayed!!) or even hitconfirm with ONE SINGLE Jumpin into slide
its Fun you play for space not to get in! and you get under pressure thats totaly stuff no grappler usaly gets its FUN!
edit:
sorry i meant to say that the focus lvl 3 into bnb, or j.fk to start that combo does that much damage
Yeah, but can you blame us for thinking it might be bad? All the reports were very negative. I’m glad to see he’s still got some great tools for getting that momentum going.
