He’s very difficult and unintuitive to use. It’s hard to tell, but I think he might have a lot of potential. Definitely gonna be sticking with him for a while.
I know i’m gonna keep playing him as an alt (dhalsim player here) because his playstyle is so unique. It’s the game of cat and mouse and roles are changed in the same match depending if hakan is oiled or not. Imo being oiled and abusing that massive range of oil rocket will create alot of shenanegans (spelling? O_o) and there’s nothing more satisfying than catching someone with 306+K :D.
I’ve been able to play him for a couple nights now, and yes his wakeup needs help. but I’ve found that EX Rocket when un-oiled is extremely good for creating an opening to oil up. Once oiled, it’s command normal pressure all day, and I agree, Oil Coaster is superior.
I’m thinking about doing the opposite heh.
After having played with him a lot more and against very good aka best player in the country competition, I am even more confused about Hakan than I was when I got the game. I feel like the more I figure out about him, the less I know. I have to be very methodical about this.

Wow, Hakan is a lot of fun! definitely going to be playing him as an alt! Seems like short oils are the way to go (figured this ahead of time), stack when you can. Learning to play him well without oil will also be key though, because let’s face it, you won’t always have it on. He might be a pretty decent turtle character even, if that gets you anywhere in Super. We’ll see, but either way he is a blast to play!

So oil dive is pretty weird. Sometimes I can get the follow-up full-screen, most of the time at mid-screen, and pretty much 100% at close-range. It also always seems like it’s guaranteed off of counter-hit.

Nah. No joke. Daigo has a pretty dope Hakan, especially considering how little time (we believe) he got with the game. Stayed oily literally the entire time. Even got in a couple of EX Oils. RH button got a tough ass workout, though. lol
Btw 360 shortcuts are dumb as shit. DP shortcuts are nothing compared to these monsters. I’ve gotten countless 360+p instead of an oil dive because of where I was holding the joystick before I do the qcf motion.
Yeah, it’s pretty annoying indeed. What’s the point of shortcuts for 360 anyway?
