Yeah I know. I seen it and replied, was wondering what other people thought of the move with what we know so far.
i wonder if any of his normals have launching properties, maybe after oil up?
could follow it up with oil dive
I can’t see a reply. I meant I wrote one just now. And the reason I sound pissed is because, frankly, your posts made you sound like a total douche. Especially “That command grab is trash anyway.”
Ah, you posted again. My apologies, I’ll go read it and reply.
yo link this dudes post i want to read it
moral of the story
dont use gamefaqs
Wow. Obviously this guy doesn’t know what’s up with having options with your command grab. Why is Gief so good? because once he gets in range, he can either spd you if you block/stay grounded, or lariat you if you try to jump. Both good, effective options.
Haken can Oil Rocket you if you stay grounded, or Dive you if you jump. Very similar theory, and while dive can be punished if it whiffs, so can lariat. He says it’s still gonna be down-back fighter? Enjoy your oil rockets!
Thing is, lariat beats some reversals as well, and in SFIV, it’s quite save on block vs a lot of characters. But Oil Dive seems quite versatile to me, maybe you can juggle into it somehow. At least the EX version.
I know they are changing the hitbox on lariat in Super to be higher, so it won’t be quite so safe. I’m happy about this, as I main Abel, and lariat spam against him is super safe in vanilla SF4.
Gief can also cr.lk if you try to jump on wakeup which can lead into a green hand or tick the cr.lk into an spd. That’s what makes his vortex so scary. Gief can also ambiguous crossup body splash/knees and beats srks with his knees.
no one lariats on wakeup, that’s just bad.
i don’t know if anyone’s tested if hakan has a crossup. But his grabs don’t do as much damage as SPD by far. He just doesn’t seem as devastating as gief does.
Yeah Gief’s vortex is scary no doubt about that, I just don’t see that kind of thing happening with Hakan, with what I’ve seen from him so far.
No one is claiming that Hakan will be better than Gief. Gief will always be a scary fight.
What I am saying is that Hakan has the options and tools to become a threat in his own right. He has more movement options thanks to slide, oil and command normals. I think that a well-played Hakan will be able to shut down opponents with similar tactics.
He’s a guy with good normals like Honda, good grabs (especially with oil), and interesting setups. I’ve played Abel, Gief and Honda extensively. Hakan looks to have some setups like Abel, a slightly weaker version of Gief’s vortex, and normals that are possibly better than Honda. He may not be top tier, but he’ll be at least upper-mid. He has great potential, we just have to bring it out.
Hakan has an awesome ambiguous cross up apparently
i didnt mention it before, but hakan says "i love my daughters they are all so pretty.

I am because Hakan shuns him in design, originality, and story.
Gief ain’t got a vortex… the term was specifically coined in reference to Akuma’s tatsu shenanigans on his opponents wake-up. It’s not a blanket term than covers spinny movements.
I’m a little concerned for hakan that so much of his game revolves around a good AA. It almost feels like he needs to be played like a rushdown grappler. If you can catch people with his air grab or air command grab then that’s all well and good, but how does hakan deal with pressure? I mean we’re used to the stay the fuck away approach to handling gief, but if you can space it right it seems like hakan can’t really deal with jump ins. Either that or his AA command grab is going to be hilarious when you pull a jumping RH shoto out of the air and spin him into a wall.
actually is was coined to express the multitude of options Akuma has off a knockdown and the typical sense of helplessness that accompanies it. So yes Gief has a nasty vortex, Hakan prolly not so much and as dope as he is I’m curious to what he is going to do vs jab spam and relentless pressure.
Whaaaaaa? I’m pretty sure it’s" they Arrrre so pretty."
Zujira and Doopliss, ya’ll sippin on that haterade. The move will find it’s uses. It won’t be OMG great, but it won’t be shitty like hooligan. At worse it’ll be like Falling Sky.
