mannn Hakan is gonna be beastly. Cant wait.
Could be that Hakan’s harder to learn. There’s also other stuff to consider… Even if Akuma has more options and better mobility than Ryu, Ryu’s still the most popular character in SF4.
Possible reasons would be health (I don’t see Hakan having the same health advantage as the bear-wrestler), exploitable weaknesses (Lariat still looks like a better antiair than anything Hakan has outside of his U2), and vortex. We don’t know yet how dangerous Hakan is on knockdown compared to Gief, and what can stuff his moves. Nor do we know exactly how the old Gief compares to the new Gief.
Maybe people just like Gief.
maybe its just because i’m quite new to gief but hakan looks far more appealing to me.
i’ll stick my neck out and say i think he will be the highest ranking grappler in super tiers lists (when they have settled down properly)
Most of the newcomers have high tier potential. And with the old cast getting refed maybe Hakan will indeed be the best grappler.
Looks like Coward Crouch recovers quickly, so avoiding mids and highs while buffering 720 will be viable. A question for any Blanka players in here, can you cancel into his Coward Crouch off normals and can he be thrown out of his Coward Crouch?
Hakan players will probably have to rely on oiling up in order to be effective. The opponent will obviously try to prevent that from happening. Zangief is more straightforward…just get close and do big damage.
Also to me Hakan just isn’t dealing the raw damage a grappler normally does. Maybe I’m to used to Zangief’s “land a 4 hit combo and whoops there goes 60%” but to me his command grabs just don’t deal a lot of damage.
has anyone already brought up the fact that Yoga Flame should literally deep fry him? realistically he should just become a human pakora. or maybe a papa-dum, seeing as he is a hot dad.
anyway i’m not really sure how this would fit into gameplay but i’m just wondering here because omitting this fact seems like it would be kind of negligent of the developers…
Everyone has. And Yoga flame is just an illusion anyways.
I don’t think it’s negligence. It’s just that the game is not realistic and doesn’t try to be…otherwise, you shouldn’t be able to block Vega’s claw strikes.
^ actually that’s another thing that’s always bothered me
these kinds of problems are really what’s always held back the SF series from being as great as, say, Tekken 6 for example. just look at the lifelike physics in this video, SF can’t really compare to this
Why are we debating tekk vs SF again? This isn’t the thread for that.
@Tofu Warrior: the nice thing about Guard Position isn’t just that it recovers quickly, but that you can cancel it into command grabs as Seth confirmed. It will lend itself to many different setups both on offense and defense.
Pretty much. Even in its slightly nerfed form, Lariat is a really powerful anti-air, anti-fireball and anti-a-lot-of-shit move. We also don’t know if Hakan’s command grab is going to be as quick to startup as Zangief’s. It looks like Dudley poked him out of it in one of the videos I watched.
Realism? Since when was that a staple of this game? Listen if you got some Hakkan hate whatever bro to each their own but to pick a weak reason such as this is beyond silly. In a game when people have 12 foot verticals, Limbs can stretch to the length of 3 times their height, green bestial orange hair men can produce electric shocks from their body, and women with cybernetic eyes can suddenly change the velocity and angle of travel in mid air I think a guy who puts oil on his body not being deep fried is well with in the realm of “street fighter reality”.
All physics does is make stuff less consistent. No thanks.
I’ve been waiting for someone to point out that there’s no way in hell those physics are lifelike…
That too. I thoguht he was talking about ragdoll physics for some reason. Tekken has predetermined animations just like SFIV.
His damage comes from oiling up.
this video shows a bear fighting an android with chainsaws magically coming out of her hands… but you can’t get over the fact that hakan doesn’t light on fire
