I assumed that his hat was worn to protect hit head during all of his slipping and sliding antics. Did no one else think that?
Any alternate colors of him shown yet? I’m hoping that his skin changes color, because I’d like to have a purple Hakan.
They borrowed the ‘oil up’ mechanic from Virtua Fighter. Basically, Hakan looks to be a hybrid of Shun (oil = booze), Honda (low mobility, slide = torpedo, s.RH trip) and Zangief (punch grab is stationary grab, kick grab is dash grab).
1v1 fighting games have been around in some form for a quarter century. The archetypes are set in stone at this point so I forgive them for mixing and matching.

Yeah in some IGN fight, Hakan is rocking gold outfit. Skin didn’t change color though.

In the gamespot interview with Ono, there’s a clip which shows that Hakan can combo his sweep from jumping roundhouse
in 1:04 into the interview cody performs a jumping strong? (sagat elbo) and Hakan anti-airs with his sweep which knocks Cody down.
in around 1:47, we see that the sweep (is it a sweep? it looks like it) pushes Cody far back when he blocks it, it looks extremely safe.
Actually, at 2:30 I can’t tell if Cody punishes a blocked sweep or if Hakan just didn’t block correctly
He punishes the sweep again at 3:46, it doesn’t look completely safe.
Sure that thing on his head is a helmet?. . .I mean he does have a blue fucking mustache. . .

His daughters seem to have different numbers of circles on their heads, one of them looks like a toad from Mario. haha.
I bet his Alt is going to be something skintight, to fit his theme.

I mean I’m not SO against him. I just don’t see why they couldn’t have done something zany without being XD RANDOM, you know? I mean this is really Puzzle Fighter level shit. Maybe Zangief shoots bear projectiles in SSFIV, I dunno. I just would have liked to see a more reasonable design.
There was a point in Rufus’ design where they DIDN’T just slap a clown costume on him and make him SF4’s FIGHTAN CLOWN. Obviously that point simply didn’t happen with Hakan. Whatever, he’s very LOL that’s great, but I’m just not going to feign enjoyment over such a horrendous design to piss off the people who are really aghast with it.
I’m just a little disappointed. I thought it would be a little more subtle.
SO his alt i think will definetly be a “lack of” clothes, maybe a Hakan prepared to enter a turkish bath. I totally see him wearing a Fez though.
This also upsets me though…I feel like we could’ve had one more stage added because of Hakan. How sick would an exaggerated turkish bath have been?

You didn’t read Ono’s interviews where he said the 2 completely new characters would be as un-relative to traditional SF designs as possible. Ono told you you were getting set up the bomb. I really like off the wall zany characters any ways and even if I didn’t Ono already said up and down that Juri and Hakan were going to be weird as fuck so we knew what was coming either way.
I have hope regarding that second random select in the stage select menu. If juri got Korea stage maybe Hakan will get a stage ? I know… It’s wishful thinking but who knows?
