Oh shit, Hakan’s Oil Dive (the flying command grab) catches jumpers! You’ll have to anticipate the jump, you won’t be able to react to it, but that’s fine, neither can most grapplers. Cr. jab xx Oil Dive will work if they’re holding up, which is pretty awesome. And I’m sure it’ll catch back dashes too, if not the command slide will for sure. :wgrin: Moves like these are simply indispensable for grapplers in modern 2D fighters; his mix up game just got ridiculous.
In the match against dhalsim on the front page, oiled up slide goes under Yoga Fire at 0:14. Should work on aduken and Sonic Booms. Woo.
Problem is that some people are reporting that his slide works against projectiles if your close to them, i’d assume that it might not work against Hadokens unless close cuz they have huge hitboxes(i hope it works regardless), where yoga fire and sonic booms are smaller, though it wont work against low tiger shots and juri’s low FB. I want to think it works kinda like Cammy’s Spiral Arrow
The slide seems to work exactly like Blanka’s River Run (d/f + fierce); it’s a surprisingly effective anti-air and passes under fireballs at any range. It’s possible they’re sliding into late fireballs, so that Hakan gets up into them, but that’s all speculation. I also hope he has some kind of overhead, that’d be badass.
Also those paragraphs of match up breakdowns on the page before made me laugh. :rolleyes: But hey, it’s pre-release, let the theory fighter flow like oil! I might as well jump on the bandwagon.
Oiling up vs. Gief will be free just outside of EX Green Hand range (your typical sweet spot in this match up anyway). You’ll be able to spam LK Oil Shower for days and he won’t be able to do anything about it. As such, Hakan’s already (seemingly) good normals will receive a considerable range boost; with proper spacing, it’ll be very hard for Gief to approach, which we already know from SF4. Hakan’s cr. RH (that really long range kick that knocks down on hit) will probably be immensely useful. I have no idea how safe Hakan’s slide is, I will assume not very; either way, -2 or more means it’s SPD/720 punishable and probably not great for this match up.
The slide will be good for lariat happy giefs though 
I’m more interested in his normals than anything else right now, and how oiling up affects them exactly.

According to IPW, his specials get “kara properties” while he’s oiled up. With that and range added to normals (and knockdown on f + RH), he should have a strong footsie/mid-close-range mix-up.
Oiled-up EX Oil Rocket seems to have some good forward movement at 0:06 here. But at 0:27 non-oiled up EX Oil Rocket seems like it might have similar or identical range Could be EX Oil Rocket just has a fixed distance regardless of oil?: [media=youtube]Y5oEKQ8v-vc[/media].

I think it’s more of a nod to classic Greco-Roman sculpture. Statues from that era have large defined curls, like Michelangelo’s David. His hair is a stylized version of that.

It seems like you should be able to jab and then option select either jab or the diving grab. If the jab connected it should cancel into another jab (assuming you’re oiled)…if it whiffs due to back dash or jump away the diving grab would come out and punish.
BTW…did anyone notice how pretty his daughters are?
