Hakan Thread: I love my daughters, they are so pretty!

Yea, the thing about the slide is that some people are saying that it goes under FBs, and others are saying that it doesnt unless your close. I’m sure he’ll give Dud a run for his money but i think the match up against gief will be like a 5/5, both of them need to get close on each other, i think hakan will have more options than gief but mess up and your eating an SPD. I think Hakan will give most the cast a run for their money but close range vs close range is a toss up.

The fact that Hakan has a focus attack while he moves, a slide, and a lunge, if hes oiled up everything gets better and he can link his normals to set up for a combo(which i think is what will we’ll be able to do) we wont have many problems. Mind you though its all speculation at this point but one can surely hope for the best:rock:

In all honesty, I think both Dudley and Gief will give Hakan a hard time.

Dudley is a rushdown character. Once he gets in on Hakan’s ass, from what we know right now what can Hakan do? Dudley’s normals are fucking quick, and will probably beat Hakan in a game of footsies. Plus, Dud’s normals cancel, leading to potentially huge damage. Also, with that quick overhead, expect to play a high/low 50/50 guessing game while Dud’s pounds on you in the corner.

As for Gief, it’s probably going to be the same as Abel vs. Gief. Hakan is going to want to keep Gief out, because Gief will most likely out play Hakan once he gets in. If you get knocked down, you play a guess game of whether or not to block. One mistake will and you will be on your back, again. Pressuring Gief is still up in the air, because we don’t know if Hakan’s grabs have any properties. Hakan is going to have to keep Gief out with his normals and capitalize on Gief’s mistakes. Don’t expect to be able to out-grapple Gief.

Like I said a few pages ago, Hakan is cool and all, but don’t expect to main him without pulling your hair out of your head. He is going to have some pretty bad match-ups, according to what we know so far.

except hakan has really good normals, and im no expert but lots of characters have historically been competitive with only one or two really good pokes/moves.

True, he definitely seems to have good normals, better than Abel that’s for sure. But the match-up seems like it will be approached similarly to Abel vs. Gief. Keep him out with your normals, and punish mistakes. Mmm… maybe think of it as Honda vs. Gief just without the headbutts and buttslams. Even then, Gief’s normals provide him with an excellent footsies game, too.

I still think Dudley will destroy Hakan though. Hakan’s normals are good, but I think Dudley will out-poke Hakan, leading to big, damaging combos. Once Dud’s gets that knockdown, Hakan will probably have to play a patient defense until an opening shows itself.

Everything I’m saying is just stupid speculation though: Anything is up in the air and there’s a huge possibility that I may be wrong. I just don’t want people going into this expecting something like “Hakan is so sick! I’m going to main him so I can show all the haters what’s up!” and then the game comes out and they realize that there’s a lot more work involved than expected.

hmmmm,as far as gief your probally right, but i thik the grapplers in general will give dud a tough time

IDK Hakan’s oil may help against Gief especially since he has mobility problems.

Without more videos/playtime its hard to say how good he will be. But I think he looks fun to play. And interesting, the oil up factor is pretty cool imo. The game needs to come out thats all. Fucking game!

Gief’s footsie game is incredibly strong and he has OS Banishing Flat with his jump ins which can cross up and are extremely ambigious and lariat for AA purposes. Gief overall seems like the superior Grappler when it comes to an upclose battle. It’s too early to tell who’s footsie game is better since we don’t know the priorities and recovery time on Hakan’s normals and everyone has to learnr the distancing for him as well. It may be in Hakan’s favor due to his range. Hakan as far as we know doesn’t have a cross up and his mix up game doesn’t appear to be as strong and he’ll be using that knockdown to oil up instead of setting up a mix up.

The lack of good defensive options is essentially going to cost him a lot so he’ll have to spend most of his time defending when he’s knockdown. Not sure if EX Oil Dive has any invinci frames on it and Oil Slide seems iffy for AA situations.

im still a little disappointed about all the nerfs with everyone else…dudley 4 god tier!

um… he looks retarded. oh well. at least juri looks awesome. capcom can’t get it right all the time i guess.

oh…someone got beat by Dan too many times? :open_mouth: and now has a grudge against goofy/awesome SF chars? Beat yah hate rufus too?

When he’s oiled up, slide goes under Yoga Fire. Not sure about Sonic Boom and probably not Low Tigers.

everyone talks about his def but he has that trap ultra which means no jumpins, and a safe wake up ultra for escape maybe?!

His fear crouch gets hit by Juri’s low fireball so I don’t see the sliding avoiding low Tiger Shot as well. He’s got to be able to slide under fireballs at the very least. It seems too crazy not to do. He’s going to have some stupid match ups if Capcom doesn’t do this right.

For sure once he’s has that Ultra available you can’t jump in on him at all even after a knockdown. However, you’re only looking at something that’s going to occur maybe once per round. What about the other times he gets knockdown?

Well think you meant Oil Dive for his AA not slide, and i think in terms of pressure escape we’ll be using the slide to get outta situations, hopefully once we get more info we’ll be able to properly theory craft

once you gain ultra your opponent will play differnt, its reported that you cant even touch him once the ultra is active so it seems to me that it would double as a counter also

Hakan’s trap Ultra would probably be a great scrub killer :bgrin:

Slide not going under fireballs but going under from close range… does that suggest that the startup has fireball immunity? shrug I guess we’ll find out soon enough, and by “soon enough” I mean 1 1/2 months

That is not soon enough.

Interesting. Using the slide to avoid cross ups. May actually work. Ex slide is probably faster too.

I think my well-oiled brained just popped out of my well-oiled skull. I can’t get that damn song out of my head.
