Most Roses will do it full screen or after a knockdown so EX slide isn’t as useful as you would think.
Is there any good use for cr.Hp?
How does one get out of a Sticky Situation (read: non-oiled)? If I get cornered by a Sakura, or a Cody, there seems like nothing I can do to get the fudge out from poke poke poke > safe special.
i like to use my st.hp or if your despite, and this works a lot, wip out the cr.lp into slide and counter hit em.
Only thing about slide, with body press or without is you still end up in the corner.
not if you use the kick follow up, besides you could just do a cross up hk on wakeup, or go for a jumping grab move
Does Hakan have any frame traps that are at least decent?
Also i seem to get blown up by random jump in and pokes…especially against Akuma/Abel… i try to punish change of direction with grab after first block hit but i still get stuff by the second hit when oiled… am i suppose to be doing the dive or the punch grab
Thank you for that, yes. If you could elaborate, what is the kick follow up. I’ve never heard of that.
CaveKilla, a good rule to go by, for the majority of the time, is to not block jump ins. Either focus or attack. With Hakan you can evade jump ins with f+mp or cr.hp. and grab or oil dive afterward.
But I find what works for me is to neutral jump or meet them in the air and apply the appropriate poke depending on the spacing (lk works good for close jump ins, etc.). If the poke connects you can usually follow up with an oil slide when they land. You have to keep a good eye out for the starting frames of their jump, however. You have to be quick.
If you find your self under a dive kick you may just want to focus or dash back if your oiled.
If you’ve been thrown or sweeped and they jump in on you that is another story. Your opponent may be using option selects. It may be best to just block depending on the situation.

I see EBI (Japanese player) doing a 50/50 with J. HK. Does anyone have details on this setup already (Best confirm off of hit, who it crosses up, how to set it up, etc.)? Also, is this ever consistently unblockable depending on how you do the setup?

I come from Zangief, who has relatively easy confirms for people who hold upback to avoid tickthrows while blocking. I saw EBI do a string (jab, fwd jab, jab I believe) that ended with st. lk xx slide on block. Is this a prediction that his opponent was holding upback during his string, or just a mistake. If so, does only the slide connect, or does lk hit them and keep them grounded as well (similar to zangief cr. lk)? Does anyone know of any confirms that aren’t inherently guesses?
As I said, new to this character so any links are appreciated and I plan on scouring these forums later so if my questions have already been answered please forgive me. Here is a link to the player I’m referring to: http://www.eventhubs.com/news/2012/dec/16/ebis-hakan-wins-japanese-super-street-fighter-4-ae-2012-arcade-tournament-tengu-cup-2012/
THe setup is one of the original setups that Hakan players found. if you go to Chron’s guide on here, it explains who and what button you have to press before jumping in with a deep Round house or Foward.
Its a combo. Jab, Jab, F+Lk XX Slide. usually you can also use it to keep them grounded if they are blocking but a lot of hakans use L.Kick (X2 or 3) into Oil dive if they know that they are trying to press up or up back to avoid the Oil Rocket. However “infiljabs” is what you really want to do to keep an opponent grounded so you can Rocket or U1 them. Infiljabs is just jabs, dash cancelling into more jabs. repeating it over and over.
slide is actually down foward punch punch, you can do punch then kick and you end up on the otherside with oil
I did not know that. I will try that out.
What do you do against people who mash out cr lp against uncrotchable setups? and what are hakans safe jumps?
I notice we have match up up thread, but it not really usefull it just like help an offensive hakan player, but not for a defensive player. Anyone willing to makea thread for defensive play? It would just be a thread of how to punish other character moves on block or whiffs… Cause i know once i started hakan i had no idea what i could use to punish the other player moves.
I just have no clue what to do with juri dive kick… gonna try trainin mode, but if anyone know how to stuff or punish it?
Depends on the set up. You can just do a normal 360, grab, or counter hit into knockdown. Works better with lk oil set ups as its harder to see and obviously need to be close. There are a billion set ups adn i can honestly do it with a set up just by animation of the get up. I suppose a easy example would be:
HP grab -> jump forward
Then you can immeadiately lk oil dive upon landing or counter hit lights into a knockdown or wait a milli second and 360.
I’m a Juri player also. Hk version is -4, mk -3, lk -2. If used correctly you cant punish it on block. If they are just spamming it you can take ultra 2 and do neutral jumps then combo.
If im correct can’t you dash Ultra it with Hakan. Or even maybe F.MP >Ultra and go underneath the Air Kick.
I’ve looked at various thread and the combo thread. I was wondering which Hakan BnBs oiled and unoiled should I learn? I’ve always said I would pick a character like him just because people lack matchup knowledge… but I can’t get around using him unoiled.
Unoiled you should just try and keep space and fish for the knockdown in footsies with cr.mk > slide, or f.mp > slide. Also you should practice Jab jab > f.lk > slide<br>
I’m assuming the juri is tiger kneeing then dive kicks but if its just from high in the air just neutral jump and combo or apply pressure etc. That match is shit for hakan regardless though.
