Besides wildcat and Infiltration, who are some good hakans to learn from in replays?
Also what uses does coward crouch cancel have from ex oil and charged dive? I know it builds meter but I’d seem more useful to just oil instead
Kimo. Good Hakan player. Look him up on Youtube. Also there was a Japanese player who won a tournament with Hakan not that long ago. You’ll find his name on Youtube under “EBI@Baki-Zei” or just EBI.
In addition to building meter, Coward Crouch Canceling repeatedly can: evade projectiles (especially from full screen away) if your opponent doesn’t time the projectile so it will hit you while you are out of the crouch; it can also be used as a baiting tool because you can be sure most players will try to attack you while you are doing it since it is a free way to build meter.
CC is also good for Mind Games. Fake 1-2 of them and let the third fly when your opponents jumps or walks at you
when doing oiled cr.lks and they jump cause they’re expecting a tic oil rocket. What oil dive do I use and how do I time it?
after the c.lk’s, wait for them to jump, then jump after and airgrab or j.hp/j.mp, depending on their speed/what they do. if they jump away and theres no clear punish, just slowly advance on them till they reach the corner.
Figured it out, nevermind.
Can someone help ? Sorry keep in mind i just started playing hakan 30 mins ago but already really linking him !
- His standing LP LP LK into slide is so hard to do !? Do you have to be oiled? Ant tips on the timing ?
- I notice his ex slide only goes a short distance but i just saw a video where it went further ?
- Any other advise for beginners would be much appreciated .
I am not the best Hakan, but I try to help.
1.The link combo is a bit hard, since you aren´t using any chainable normals. It´s a 2f link and you don´t have to be oiled up for it. I can´t tell much about the timing, but you need to learn it, if you want to have success with Hakan.
You can also do a ST LK ST LK F LK combo, if you want to use light normals, might be easier to do(I think the timing might be a bit easier here).
The dmg is same with st lp combo. Or just go for ST MP F+LK xx slide combo.(2f link in USF4 now), maybe its easier for you. You could also add a st lp before or after the st mp.
- The distance depends on, whetever you are oiled up and not, also while oiled up, you can choose your travel distance:

If you ask me, you should try to get used to his mobility, normals(Which AAs to use and which pokes, punishing and so on), movement speed and the execution of his moveset, then try to learn his setups. Start with the easier things, then go to the more demaning stuff(Like dash cancels into normals or resets).
HUGE HELP !! Thanks !!
Hey guys, when Hakan does HP.Oil Slide > Body Press > LK.Oil Shower how much negative frame advantage is Hakan on Ken’s wake up?
Ken is able to punish it with reversal 2F start-up HP.Super all the time, but not with reversal 3F start-up HP.DP. Sometimes, however, Ken is able to punish it with reversal 3F start-up HP.DP. Is Hakan just mistiming the LK.Oil Shower?
Frame advantage is 0 afaik. LK Oil Shower has 53 total frames and a HP slide into a Body press leaves your on the ground for 53f. I guess that the Hakan´s are mistiming the Oil Showers, that´s why it can be punished.
Interesting. Are you sure Body Press leaves opponent on the ground for 53F? I’ve been able to punish with Ken’s 2F HP.Super consistently and USF4 Frame Data App says recovery on Body Press is 50F. And that would make Oil Slide on hit to press Kicks for Oil Shower useless.
I have it from here, just look at the bottom for the knockdown frames. It says 53 frames for the body press followup(The Oil up follow would be too short tbh.).
I always thought that a LK Oil up is safe after a bodypress, maybe I was wrong with lol. So I guess that I found something new to test.
Also btw the USFIV SRK Wiki says that the 50F recovery to the Oil Followup :/.
^ The picture is too small. My computer/smart phone can’t zoom in : (
Yeah, the official USF4 app on iPhone also says 50F recovery for both Body Press and Oil Shower. Oil Slide > Oil Shower is definitely safe so I’m not concerned about it’s 50F of recovery. But Body Press > LK.Oil Shower have been punishable with Ken’s 2F HP.Super consistently and sometimes with Ken’s 3F HP.DP.
Update: Ok, I think I figured it out:
Hakan is -3 but the distance doesn’t allow 3F DP to hit him on the 3rd frame (1st active frame). For example, Ken’s HP.DP (3F start-up) has a range of 1.03 on the 3rd frame (1st active frame). Ken’s HP.Super (2F start-up) has a range of 0.86 on the 2nd frame (1st active frame) but on the 3rd frame (2nd active frame) the range increases to 1.13 which is long enough to reach Hakan’s hurtbox by the 3rd frame where he is on his last frame of recovery (-3).
The only reason why Ken’s 3F HP.DP was hitting Hakan sometimes was because I was mistiming Hakan’s LK.Oil Shower input. But from my calculation and tests, if Hakan does LK.Oil Shower immediately he should be -3 but not punishable by any 3F DP because of the distance.
It’s still a good idea to reversal 3F HP.DP in case Hakan makes an execution error since it’s a 1F window and has to manually time it (no reversal window). Mashing LK.Oil Shower doesn’t seem to be consistent.
Alright, need someone to answer this for me because I’m really frustrated at what just happened. What the hell can Hakan do on wakeup to stop the mixups? I just lost to what was honestly a clearly very bad Hugo (#11 on pc through what I can only imagine was people not knowing what to do against Hugo). I crushed him the first round with a near perfect, then he spent the next two getting a knockdown and bodysplash cross-upping me. I couldn’t figure out any moves with Hakan to punish it or at least get me out safe. He stopped my slides (ex, too) with priority, his grabs beat out mine, and if I tried to block I’d get grabbed before I could get out. And if I jumped I got Hugo slammed right back down. The two rounds went insanely fast and I didn’t know what to do.
Help me not feel this scrubby in the future to this shit, guys.
