Hakan Q and A

something to add to the blanka match-up.

-after a konck-down, make sure you do some safe jump j.hk/j.mk espeially when his has ex bar. << most important as you want him to waste his ex bar for the wake up ex.up-ball

  • if he does a ex-up-ball and hovering in the air above your head, make sure you sometimes hold your focus and dash towards him for punish.

What would you think would be the best way to punish it? Like you could always do a slide but if you read it wouldn’t a dive be better?

you mean after focus the ex.ball?
i personally prefer knock down from slide-press, so i would go for c.mk > slide, or just slide if you cant get the timing right for the c.mk.
dive is ok, at the end of the day as long as you have your own way of pressuring your opponent its all good.

Does Hakan have any wake up meatys in to links or chains? i would look at his frame data chart but it hard for me to read that one. I’m trying to make Hakan to B rank like my secondary, Ryu is, but that only cause i can read Ryu frame data easily on the chart and can make up combos on my own. But with Hakan it real difficult to tell what advantages it has and dont maybe cause i just learn frame data reading.

St.mp is a great meaty to use, its got good frame advantage and links into st.lp and st.lk, which combo into slide, although these are one framers. Got a good chance of a counter hit though, which will make it easier. Sets up good pressure so even if you miss the combo you’re still in a good position. St.lp and st.lk are obviously very good as wakeup attacks too, gives you the option of combo, or grab.

Should do a video on that explaining the timing of it… you’ll probably get alot of views off it.I’m gonna test it out myself if i can figure the timing… thanks for the info though.

speaking about s.mp > s.lp > f.lk > slide combo.
I m finding it really easy to do it in the Arcade…
maybe just because there is no any perticular online lag lol

What are Hakan’s most damaging meterless combos/ setups in 2012?

j.:hk:, st.:mp:, st.:lp:, :f:+:lk: xx :hp: Oil Slide w/ Body Press followup, empty n.jump, :mk: Oil Dive, f.dash or b.dash, f.jump.any.normal, :mk: Oil Dive does infinity damage.

Hey, you said most damaging setup…

Jokes aside, the part of the above that is actually a combo is his most damaging meterless combo. It’s also his only combo, really (with few modifications).

Guess I did :p. Thanks.

Also how is Hakan’s damage compared to other characters?

Hakan’s damage output is probably a little bit higher than most characters, but he requires specific criteria to be met to be able to dole out that punishment. That combo above does ~200 damage and you can only do it at optimal range (I.E., right up in your opponent’s grill). He generates most of his damage from mixups, taking advantage of the opponent’s options during wakeup. I’ve also heard it rumored that Ultra 1 when oiled is the most damaging ultra in the game (though I’ve never verified), so his comeback factor is pretty high up there.

searched the guide and the first pages for some of the threads but couldnt find a simple answer.

How do I block Hakan’s dive? if im knocked down its unblockable then? why not do that everytime on your opponents wakeup if its unblockable?

Thanks for the help

You can mash a crouch normal button to get out all those setups. Also there are others setups that do not catch backdashes.

Hope I help you.

great! thanks

I was playing a rose player earlier, and she pulled out her spining fireball ultra i think it Ultra 2, but i cant seem to find anything around it. i try the tackle and s.HP

If she does it on your wakeup it’s not safe and you can EX grab it. If she does it full screen I have had success beating the jump in clean with tackle (f.MP) but otherwise you just have to block if she approaches I find.

Slide.ex

That seems pretty risky. If she blocks are you about to take a lot of damage.

i’m going to have to try this out in training mode then and i’ll post my findings.

EX Slide is the only thing that seems to beat it so yo were right, bubafest. But if they jump in the air u can react with air grab and it cancel the ultra. i tried it different times.
