Is there any way to OS U2 off of a jump-in/cross up on opponent’s wake up? That would tear up Honda.
not on a cross up jump-in kick.
but you can do a safe-jump kick OS U2 to catch their wake up butt-slam & headbutt.
What the best plate to use for Hakan on a stick like this http://cdn103.iofferphoto.com/img2/item/134/483/285/AqoN.jpg it has square gate right now but i cant be arsed at using it i try for months still no luck i’m ordering a octaganol plate to see if that helps.
Personally I use octo, but it’s all a case of preference. I know plenty of grapplers who use square, so it is possible for sure.
I have problem with Claw. Is there any topic about the matchup?
There’s the matchup thread, the post about Claw can be found here. CC’ing a wall dive to land Ultra 1 feels so good.
Was thinking how picking him up as an alt to t hawk was wonder how are his footsies are compared to hawks and what kind of safe jump setups does hakan have?
I have heard it said that Hakan, while oiled, has the best footsies in the game due to his ability to DNC. That said, I don’t have any objective evidence. I can say from personal experience that he has decent footsies. His ability to move around while poking is really helpful when trying to get in on your foe (meaning, he has good hitboxes on moves that also happen to move him forward.
He also has safe jump setups that beat 3-frame SRKs or causes them to whiff. More importantly, however, is his ability to generate pressure off of a knockdown. He has setups for un-defendable oil dives (meaning that you cannot block, crouch block, jump or dash to escape them) off of every hard knockdown. Couple this with his safe jumps and regular Oil Rockets (SPDs) and he has beastly mixup.
However, if you are looking for a sub that has good footsies and safe jumps, I wouldn’t recommend Hakan, as these are not his strengths and his game rests more firmly on his ability to generate momentum.
Didn’t f.hk tech throws? I could swear this was the case in super but it seems to not work in AE anymore.
They removed that in 2012 unfortunately. Not sure why.
Um…what? As in, pressing :f:+:hk: when your opponent pressed :lp:+:lk: would tech the throw? Was that on purpose? o_o
So what are you supposed to do against Blanka? I mean, Blanka’s normals are by far better than Hakan, feels like all you can do is just sit there and wait for a ball since Blanka’s C.MP/MK stuffs everything?
I played SAGOD, Sagat today, and he owned me. He zone me out pretty much the whole match and i didnt know what to do. if i get a chance i’ll upload the crapfest, but i wanted to know what Hakan can do against a tough Sagat zoner.
NEGATIVE. Hakan;s normals are WAY better then Blankas.
- Slide/follow up against blocked Blanka balls
- Never slide when blanka has ultra
- Crouching L.Kick / M.Kick / Roundhouse kills electricity. so CR.medium XX Slide/Followup for more dmg
- Try not to random slide, Just easy your way over so you can rocket him due to him being down back.
- Stay with in Sweeping distance to catch U1 with O.C.H any closer and you’ll get shocked.
Here’s a video of me playing in a tournament against a Blanka player. I came back from Match round to advance in the tournament;

Hm, tough one really. I mean, the obvious choice would be to EX-slide him and then just keep up the pressure so that he doesn’t resume his zoning game. What you could do is that once you get the lead you could kickback and avoid the spam with CC until he comes after you?
I’ve heard it said that Blanka is a hard counter for all grapplers, but I don’t know how much truth there is to that. Sorry to not have more helpful feedback =/
I know all that. I didn’t mention electricity, ultra, and his balls. I’m talking about his normals. Normals, as in, not special moves.
-mix up FADCing, CCing and neutral/Safe jumping Tiger Shots when full screen away.
-
DO NOT JUMP AT SAGAT. You have way more options to get over to him then jumping at him.
-
I prefer U2 over U2 in this matchup, because you can catch sagat out of his uppercut, Knee, Genicide & destruction
Basically you want to let the Sagat player think he has control of the zone but actually you the Hakan Player has Full Control. remember that Hakan works better at Full Screen and up close. In the middle, not so much. If Sagat is shooting a tiger shot and you’re less then Half Screen, Parry the shot into F+Roundhouse to knock Sagat down, then go into the mixups. If your full screen away, build meter so you can then ex slide those tiger shots.
Summary:
far away = Build meter, evade tiger shots and make him get closer
dont jump at him while he’s standing, however you can jump at him when he’s KD to set up your mixups.
U2 is better then U1 in this Matchup
Less then Mid-screen = A parried Tiger Shot into F+Roundhouse for the knock down
Close = baiting out the Tiger uppercut, knee, Specials and Ultras.
- BLOCK
- Parry his normals and go for your BnB
- Read frame data
- go to the training room and learn what you can do to punish his normals. F.E: if blanka hits you from Maximum distance with Crouching Fierce, you can punish with a slide. Meaty Crouching Fierce, Rocket him.
The only normal that really gives Hakan trouble is blanka’s double knee. everything else can be punished some way shape or form.
Your clip just proves my point, his C.MK/HK is retardedly good. You’re getting wrecked by it and any good Blanka player with some info on the matchup won’t use balls at all.
