Now I’m going to be as objective as possible here so bare with me.
DPC Vs. JWong Low Tier: For those of you who don’t know what I’m referring to it was a HUGE major event at evo, between the aforementioned. Justin J a.k.a. DPC, Formerly known as Duc Jr won 10 to 6. People claim they lost respect for him for WINNING. Now the backstory for those of you who don’t know was…Dark prince and his crew/gang made a video crapping on a lot of east coast players. Justin Wong addressed this on an online radio station and challenged Buff Mike aka Mike Chaos aka Vin Diesel Dude to a match claiming he could beat him with ruby heart jill ken which is a wild claim considering how definitive marvel’s tier system is. DPC spoke up and said “I’ll take that bet” to which Justin Wong agreed. Buff Mike said he wouldn’t play unless JWong lost 50 pounds. Translated to “I’m not gonna play you.” Justin already lost lots of weight is no longer fat and was not about to become anorexic. So the match was set at 1k + side bets. Though JWong and DPC saw each other before that, JWong was not willing to play then. He said he would save the team for EVO as it wasn’t ready. I believe that JWong was depending on the mind game from all the crowd and wanted all his friends to get a chance to scrape up some dough too, so he declined my invitation to have them settle it there. I think thats understandable, so on to the match:
The Outcome: J wong played and lost. He did put up a GOOD fight considering the team but as I said Marvel’s tier system is definitive. The fact that he did win 6 games shows a mastery of patience/skill with JWong, and a lack of understanding on DPC’s part. However DPC did win and there are MANY “Top players” in the marvel community that would have lost 6 games just as well. Wong isn’t an idiot. He has played that team against some of the best in the nation, and has beaten them also. Giving him the idea that he even had a chance with the team. Now people claim that DP lost respect for winning that match, but only the myopic/biased people would see it that way. How many people right now if someone came to them and challenged them to a game they were good at and told them they would stack odds against themselves pretty much guaranteeing a win wouldn’t take the free 1k? Loss of respect my foot. We all know that if DPC was to turn down an offer like that he would have lost even more respect. Which were some of the claims made about Buff Mike. Now DPC wasn’t offered the challenge, but saw a chance for a free 1k. Now objectively find something you’re good at. Say its pushups. You have worked out for the last 3 months and can do 200 bushups straight. Some guy who is EXTREMELY fit comes and tells your friend who doesn’t even workout seriously that he would beat him in a pushup contest using only one finger to support his weight for 1000 bucks. You wanna tell me you wouldn’t take that? It’s free money get out of here if you say you wouldn’t.
Coaching: Now so many players claim that DP won only because of coaching. No disrespect to JWong but ask him if he would run that back with him if we made a no coaching stipulation? The answer (if he knows whats good for him) is no. Now this isn’t a dis on JWong’s skill. I still respect him as the best MVC2 player in the nation and he knows that. I just no that the tiers outplay him and he can’t do anything about that. Yes DP was coached. Pretty much EVERY big match at evo had coaching. I feel that the coaching was necessary in order to counter the 2k EC players screaming and yelling every time JWong landed a hit. Either way, DP won, got 1k, and shouldn’t be looked down upon for seeing a 1k donation and taking it. Yes it made me gain a LOT of respect for JWong because of his 6 games, my respect for DP remains where it was. I’m not gonna give him respect for beating that team, but I won’t lose respect for it either. If anything it should be left at a neutra. If you didn’t respect him before, don’t respect him now. This 1 match shouldn’t be an influence on that.
DP’s skill level: People try to claim that he sucks yet he got 2nd at evo west. That means everyone that entered the tourney sucks more than him correct? He beat Clockwork, and Duc, does that make them suck? Not at all. Those claims are unfounded based on his tournament records/history. The majority of the people making these claims wouldn’t even play him for money if he challenged them so just stop already. DP knows that I disagree with a LOT of the things he does. I don’t believe in talking trash about someone’s person, especially if it’s because of marvel. I don’t believe in weapons or any violence now for that matter. Not that I’m not guilty of the trash talk/violence it’s usually responsive but that is not an excuse, just an insight. Nevertheless, he has beaten countless top playrs on WC consistently so people should truly stop hating on him about it.
Fanatiq a.k.a. Top 5 a.k.a One button cheater, Aka Loren a.k.a. Desert Heat, a.k.a. Chauvinist Crip(inside joke): I usually don’t address some people when they talk about me using the one button dash. I will say for the record that YES having button mapping is cheap, No losing an assist shouldn’t be worth it. I got a LOT of flack for using the pad during some money matches/tourney. I understand people being offended and feelin cheated. Evo is a console tournament, and I suck at console. I figure I’ll do bad anyway so I might as well give up the assist, at least I’ll be able to rom (Which is HARD cuz of the lag from the converters). Anyways, I beat quite a lot of people using the pad. Not a single person would admit they got outplayed. It was ALWAYS because of the OBD. People really gotta start being honest with themselves. I would play ANYBODY, who was using one button dash with msp for money. JWONG, Yipes, Sanford, Soo, ANYBODY. The limitations are SO obvious ant they outweigh the OBD for sure. If you got beat by it, like people say about the dpc match, it shows a lack of understanding the game. If you want look me up, you can see me playing on a mas a LOT. Don’t just assume “he sucks without the pad” see for yourself. I have a few people that I would like to address. Some objectively some not. If you don’t know me enough to tell the difference between the two, well sucks for you.
Erik “Smooth Viper” Arroyo: I beat you 5-0 with the one button dash. You talked a LOT of trash about how I would only win with it. There are matches on youtube that say otherwise. Not only did I beat you on a stick, but a console stick. After those matches I said to you “Now that proves to you I can play without one button dash.” You replied, “Yeah now you get respect.” That didn’t stop you from claiming the erroneous “obd only” the next time I saw you. I think you’re good. I would say you’re even better than me. Not that 1 on 1 you are better than me, but because of your abilities vs. other people, I will say that. Its the same with people like MMDS, though I can beat him consistently about 80% of the time, he beats people that I can’t more often. So he’s better than me. Now me vs. him I win. Round robin he’s much better than me though. Anyways, I give you your props for getting 3rd, and I think you’re good. Just your claims about me “sucking” are unfounded. I would play you in arcade any day.
Blazinflo a.k.a Blazinfag: You talk a LOT of trash, but I don’t know if you won ANY money matches the whole evo. You said you would play me first to 10 for 100 bucks I said DO IT. Then you started runnin. Look if you think you’re so much better PLAY ME. Until then shut up. I placed higher than you, and I would rape you on pad, on console stick, on arcade stick, on my beatmania controller, using a dvd remote. You are horrible. You said you would play me if I played team Florida. I said I would play EVERY ONE OF THEM 1st to 10 for 100, and they weren’t even down. Stop hiding behind people and man up. You get no respect til you give it, and since I’m 239847 times better than you, respect me nigga.
JWong: You get a lot of respect. You have proven that you are a force to be reckoned with in just about EVERY game. That take skill so I respect you. I think you got a little pretentious, and thats why you lost the DP match. No matter what you can’t tell me it was worth 1000 bucks. I give you props but that low tier team Idea was NOT smart. I don’t think you have a right to be mad about dpc being coached because you coached Fanatiq Jr and almost cost me a money match. You reap what you sow man.
Fanatiq Jr: I played you for money did you pretty dirty til you got coached. Afterwards I said “I don’t got a pretty smile but I still raped this nigga” which apparently made you wanna fight me. I wasn’t talking personal trash about you, that was all in the game. Me saying “you’re not good enough” despite how it sounds, wasn’t meant to be diminutive. I say it to finesse all the time despite the fact that he’s much better than me. It normally makes people mess up, and since you got coahced into winning 5 games, I was desperate. If you feel disrespected for that I’m sorry. Me claiming to have raped you in the game I can’t apologize. Your claims that if we played 1st to 10 on a stick I wouldn’t beat you one game were OFF man. I think you underestimate me a LOT. I beat yipes 1 game on a 2 out of 3. I gotta beat you at least 1 on a first to 10. Overall Wigfall, I think you’re good, which is why I give you the title Fanatiq Jr. I hope you make me proud.
Sanford: We exchanged brief words over me asking you to play my friend for money in Tekken. I think it was really childish of you to leave it open ended and getting frustrated by me asking you again. As adults we learn to communicate what we think such as “No I don’t wanna play you” or, “I’ll think about it then get back to you”. Saying “I’ll see” gives me the impression that I should just ask you later once you’ve talked about it. As I played you in marvel, you kept saying “A good player like me could lose to something like that.” Which was offensive. Especially since it was on a mas. You could give respect to someone that beat you with a little more sportsmanship. There was nothing to complain about. I don’t consider “You’re good man, but then again you use MSP” a serious compliment. More of a dis. Thats why I wanted you to play my friend for money. He would have won invariably and I coulda used the money for sure. You claimed you were more into tekken than marvel at the time, so I figured you’d wanna money match someone in the tekken scene. No hard feelings but some sportsmanship would do you some good. Quite a few people in the tekken scene say that.
Nelson: You were the one person to humble me as bad as you did. I have my excuses but either way you did your thing and I give you your respect on that level. Incidentally, you claim I disrespected you, I don’t understand how you fealt that way. If I was really at variance with you, I would have quickly told Mike Chaos to handle his business when he saw you yellin at me, and ran over there askin me “do you want me to f*** him up?!” Many people can vouch for me I was seriously pleading with him not to. He started saying “I really want to man, I’ll mess him up.” I kept saying “Please, please don’t.” I feel that was uncalled for, but if you disagree it doesn’t matter. Hopefully we can put that behind us. I’m a non violent person now and that includes enciting violence out of others as well. I didn’t do evo shoutouts, but I guess thats what I have to say about a few people. Based off of evo, and post-evo.
Preppy: Even YOU went as far as to claim that I only won because of one button dash. Dude the way to play megaman with storm is to use storm assist. I considered using magneto psylocke storm, but that would mean no good dhc, and psylocke coming in second. I was at a disadvantage using pad on you. I feel you are very biased in your view on that. Also on the DPC thing too, but thats just my opinion. Thanks for the site hosting all the vids. And the memory card for my program pad. Btw you have me vs. fmj, and me vs. matrix. Thats the same match on your site, if you wanna change that.
