Hacked DLC characters being used online, thoughts?

Simlar to what I said earlier

wow you guys just manipulating the post to use as evidence for your BS, how about hightlight “you buy what is advertised” to my knowledge when advertising this game there was NO MENTION OF YOU GETTING 12 EXTRA CHARACTERS WITH THIS GAME (DATA) is that simple enough for you guys?

EDIT: most of you are just mad that you aren’t the ones who got stuff meant to be paid for, for free so whateva.

Well, considering no xbox players get to play couch co-op (which was advertised), this kind of evens it out, no?

THANK YOU

you see guys THIS^ is what you should be focusing on because this is not what they advertised along with the sound issues.

ok we’ll play our game and you play yours…relax.

I think they might have fixed the sound for the most part. It’s either that or I have gotten way too used to the lack of sound queues and haven’t been noticing them.

Just using your own words bro, don’t be salty. If you’re going to participate in a debate, go over what you’re saying before you say it.

And if you want to talk about buying what was advertised, we’ve got an entire host of Xbox owners who’d like a word with you. But this post isn’t about that, or sound issues online, so I won’t open that can of worms.

This post is about people using DLC characters online and our thoughts. My thought is that it’s completely kosher because the data is already there on the disc that they purchased. Even if it wasn’t advertised, it’s still there. So again, by your logic, they have every right to access it early because they bought the disc and the disc contained the data for the characters. I’m pretty sure that if Capcom had a legal argument against people accessing content on the disc early, we’d have heard about it by now.

Even if I owned the game, I wouldn’t be shaking my fist at people who were clever enough to find out how to access the content early. I would be shaking my fist at Capcom for locking away content on the disc I bought and keeping it locked until I pay for it 6 months down the road. It would sting less if they made it day-1 DLC, but the fact that we have to wait 6 months for the characters to make their “debut” on the Vita first (which costs $20 less than the console version and includes the full roster, including Mega Man, Pac-Man and the 12 “DLC” characters) makes it completely ridiculous and unfriendly to consumers and the tournament community as a whole.

Unusual hats are cosmetic. It doesn’t matter how much money Valve charges you for them. The only way in which they affect gameplay is that the particle effects cause you to be easier to see for Snipers.

I swear its like you ignore the important parts and just take bits out of context.

you guys are lucky because if i was in capcoms shoes i would have just given you a case with a code in side telling you that you have to download the data from a certain website and then have you figure out how to play it.

I don’t see how they can not release these characters earlier than planned after this obvious shit show.

Because they are Capcom. And they WILL charge you twice.

I’m pretty sure I’ve addressed every point you’ve attempted to make. The ethics of using characters online early versus waiting for Capcom to open them for sale, what was advertised versus what was purchased, ownership of data on the disc - I won’t get into online sound bugs and pair play being left out of the 360 version because that’s not what this post is about.

I’m also glad that you aren’t in Capcom’s shoes because I do like the company and I’m pretty sure your business model would cause them to quickly go out of business.

i tried the ignore function once. it didnt work. i just get a notification that im ignoring the post above the complete post.

someone should change the topic to gameplay only experiences so this thread can be infracted or locked.

You purchased the rights to use a program, and the method of delivery is the disk. This is why you’re permitted to transfer music from a CD to your computer and burn it to another disk, because you have the rights to use the music and the CD it originally came on was just a delivery method for the product you licensed for personal use.

So no, you didn’t buy the data on the disk, you bought personal use license for a program, and the program was delivered on the disk. Circumventing (obviously poorly written) security violates the license, as this was not intended (or fair use) of the product.

you seem to understand what capcom advertised to you because your now mentioning the actual issues with the game itself but amazingly… somehow… in your mind you can’t link what they advertised to you when the HDC is involved lool its cool though we need people like you to talk the most crap to get people on your side.

of course capcom would quickly go out of business but I’d find it hilarious that people actually bought the game expecting it would come on a disc but got a slip of paper instead.

I’ve always wondered since this whole mess started but if everything on that disc is YOURS like you say then why is it bad I use those characters online ? or why can’t I develop a game, call it street fighter x tekken, say it was made by capcom then sell it worldwide without it being illegal ? sounds like I should be able to do that, right ? assuming I know how.

The point I was making was that it’s locked away and you can’t access it unless you buy a key at a chance of obtaining said item.
And the fact that Valve has a very substantial stake in marketing items to people as opposed to a previous comment stating that people “never have a problem with valve and they don’t hold anything back” something to that context.

back to the topic though, I’m a little mad at people being able to use the characters I have to pay for, for free but at the same time I’m hyped because the people who are using them may show some tech which I’d really like to see especially bryan.

Speaking of showing tech I’m assuming Capcom stopped pulling youtube channels that had early character gameplay on them?

My thoughts?

I’m jealous, I want to play as Alisa starting like yesterday.

They would if they could but I’m pretty sure they have some sort of contract with Sony to release them after the Vita version so people will, y’know, buy the Vita version. I don’t get it either but… that’s business.
