Yeah that sure is MANY MANY options…
At least its something. I guess people want these fighting games to be like it was in the old days where you played the arcade mode to unlock characters or like CvS2 where at most you only had to unlock Shin Akuma and Oni Rugal but still had the huge roster already at your disposal. It still wilds me out that people think 38 characters ain’t enough.
Indeed, but personally i don’t like when publishers sells you integral parts of the game such as characters, i don’t have problems with cosmetic stuff, i think that 12 characters as DLC is to much, personally a lot of people bitching for these 12 characters are going to use them for 2 days or a week and forget about them, why not selling each character for $3 or $4 as a different option from the $20 pack? i will be reasonable i think.
Thing is, I doubt that. They made a fucking video with Cody and Guy (yes I am going back to this one). This was one of their CGI trailers from before hand. Don’t try to tell me about planning for the Vita. AT BEST, you can maybe convince me that Sony threw Capcom a bunch of money to get people to buy Vita’s or publicize them, and this is possibly part Sony’s fault. AT BEST. Some of the other characters are no brainers, like Blanka. And look at characters in the game like M Bison, who are horrible ports of their SFIV versions, with barely any thought put into them. I haven’t seen all the DLC characters in action, but I doubt they had to go out of their way when making some of the SF characters.
yeah cuz I wanna post a 9000 point list on the various ways of being able to allow access to downloadable content. You shame that name, Jubei
and for the record, MS and Capcom have announced using DLC characters will now result in bans. Probably old news by now, but I just read it now lol:

lol I suppose Capcom knows all about ballsy
To me its just a fancier/more convenient replacement for a separate expansion-type game like Super or AE was. Easier accessibility for people in more remote counties and greater compatibility—Ie. Vanilla sf4 players being unable to play with Super/AE expansion players. SFxT looks to bridge that gap providing additional characters while maintaining a single version of the game. I think that is a great thing, but the business ethics is a problem and a lot of people take exception to it. Again, I think that is fine as well since people are entitled to their opinion. Capcom did mess up big time including content that obviously wasn’t meant for release until xday. The pricing… well, we’ll just have to wait and see about that. I’m skeptical of it and certainly am not going to shell out $ for every single purchasable item available.
Nope, we wouldn’t be half as pissed off if they left 'em off the disk. Main difference is they could (about 200% more believably, anyway) lie out their ass and claim that they worked on them after the game released, and maybe, just maybe they might actually work on even more characters later on, adding them in with another compatibility patch. I mean, look at how NetherRealm did new characters in MK9. That’s DLC characters done right.
Let’s face it. Gamers today are much better-informed about the content they’re getting, and if you’ve left content dummied out, we will find it. What makes this even more egregious is that the disk format allows this content to be pulled out much more easily than before, than when dummying was better because it didn’t throw pointers all out of whack.
When you realize that… This is the same company that blamed the community(us) for MML3 not taking flight because we weren’t supportive enough is still the same company that blamed another company for their game not working properly on another console… is the same company that canceled an highly-anticipated title from launching; which is the same company that now wants you to turn against eachother to save them a little face; is the same company that said they wouldn’t update a recent game through hard-disc retail which is the same company that sold the same game twice after saying they didn’t… which is the same company that is hush hush about everything they do until last minute due to hindsight of backlash from community.
Maybe… Just maybe… you will learn.
If you feel offended… then you’re probably one of them I’m talking to.
Its a numbers game. The community can support it but if the game isn’t pulling the numbers in line with the amount of people wanting to see the game, then who’s at fault?
WHat? you can’t buy the characters individual? they only come in a 20 dollar pack?
pretty much, you can’t avoid Blanka forever
But those expansions came with balance changes etc, however I guess Capcom is going to sell that separately for 20 hots.
I think my biggest problem during this whole thing, has been that Capcom has treated the community like idiots, and flat out lied to us waaaay too many times. Whether it was about couch co-op, or about dlc being on the disk, or us jumping to conclusions, I am absolutely shocked. But then, Japanese games have been declining for years, and I think the major reason is because of piss poor business decisions and mentality. I really don’t blame Ono for this, or the programmers. This has Stupid Management written all over it.
I think I heard they will offer Tekken or SF only packs too possibly, but I aint sure. I do know allowing for individual downloads is what they should have aimed for.
I mean, how many more release fuckups can Capcom handle, before they find that happy medium where they can release a game, and properly update it, without forcing us to buy muliple copies of the game for no real reason.
There is already 1 supposedly on the way according to Ono. Since everyone is to be playing the same version of the game (at least for online/compatibility), it should be considered free content. Remains to be seen what happens afterwards though once all of their initial DLC/expansion stuff is already out
all the people butthurt about other players hacking the disc to access DLC chars shouldn’t be
if you want to practice with those chars, hack it yourself, and enjoy
if you don’t want to play those chars, just don’t worry about it
if you feel some sort of moral obligation to only access content you pay for, why don’t you mail capcom a 20 and call it a day. or just wait until they deign to release it to you officially and then pay for it. either way it doesn’t make sense in my mind to hold yourself back from accessing the content because you want to uphold some bullshit “licensing agreement”
Link?
Putting faith in and multi million dollar company outside of them releasing content you want personally is stupid.
There isnt a company in the word that isn’t going to trying to make a profit in anyway possible.
I don’t know why you feel like they owe you anything but content. If you don’t like it do t buy it. But know that where ever you go in the video game world now you’ll be hit with the same thing. Weather you know it or not will be the only difference.
Rosalina isn’t DLC yet in Mario Kart… so I guess there is hope left in humanity.
last time I checked… Nintendo was racking in tons of dough… so… point?
Or Mario Kart doesn’t count as a video game?
you completely missed the point.
Also nintendo as a whole is against dlc. So no you won’t really get dlc from Nintendo.
Nintendo has other series that can capitalize on the exploitation of DLC better then Mario Kart. They should use it on Pokemon.
Hell Yeah, Let’s enable everyone to catch 75 pokemon and sell the other 75 as DLC.
Even Better:
Enable you to beat the elite four but need to buy DLC to get ticket pass to Mt.Silver and fight Red for the “ULTIMATE CHALLENGE!1!eleven!”
