I don’t feel like accessing DLC characters early on gives them any real advantage, especially since Rufus, Hugo and Rolento already seem to be the best characters in the game and are already included in the vanilla roster. Sure you could make the argument that as the opponent, you don’t have the ability to go into the training room and utilize that character to learn their strengths and weaknesses, but really it’s just 12 more characters against a standing roster of 38. The claim that you haven’t been able to spend time in the training room learning those extra 12 characters could be made for the rest of the roster that you haven’t gotten around to learning yet. Besides, if this wasn’t an issue with characters being used and was just people accessing the alternate colors and costumes that haven’t been released, I really doubt anyone would be calling it “cheating.”
By the time you learn the vanilla roster inside and out through training room sessions, the Vita version might already be out anyway. So where’s the issue?
@Spyridon: I’m curious toward what you mean when you say that there is a license agreement on the back of the box between Capcom and the consumer that the consumer agrees to when they purchase the game. Would you mind sharing the verbage? I’m not so much concerned with the Microsoft or Playstion verbage concerning use of their network since in the Playstation version’s case it’s pretty blatant and printed on the back of literally every game.
That’s the PS3 versoin, but it’s basically the same thing.
You can also look on the microsoft site for the XBL licensing agreement. That’s actually relevant here because you have to hack the console to hack anything related to the game and play it online. So even if capcom had no licensing at all, you could still be banned.
All online services have an agreement precisely for this reason… that’s why it don’t stand up in court that “We own everything on the disk”.
Oh, and before people say “I didnt agree to anything!”… That’s one of the reasons companies do day1 patches (even if they are 1kb)… by accepting you agree.
Although people may have a case with the instruction book actually listing the XBL team play, if they can find any marketing information where they promised it before release. (but that’s a different topic)
About the Capcops stuff, I hope the hackers get what they have coming to them just because of how hypocritical they are to give out ways to get the characters for free and “cheat the system” when they’re probably too lazy to do some real good in the world. I work as a substitute teacher and I’m made privy to much bigger problems every day. If these hackers want to do some real good in the world, they should leave the house and see what they can do to fix problems in the material world rather than the digital one (unless they’re also Digidestined, then I’m cool with them
). Don’t go doing stuff like this and then pretend that you did your good deed for the day. Old proverb: “There’s no honor amongst thieves.”
So you wannabe Robin Hoods can parade your DLC characters all you want and “spread the word” as you get banned thinking you’re some kind of martyr. In the meantime, I’m going to get ready for work and do some legitimate good in the world rather than fight a pointless battle that will have precisely zero good on my fellow man.
There’s a guy around here with a hacked SFxT setup, but I won’t snitch on him because I need him to test out some Lars stuff for a friend…
I’m sorta more convinced people are “upset” because they can’t access any of the DLC chars due to them not obeying some sort of hacking skill or know of someone who can hack the console for them.
I mean, honestly… if everyone(or a vast majority) was able to hack their console and get the Characters; there wouldn’t be such a black/white scenario.
Bottom line for all those who don’t like it is to just do what I did and not buy the game. It’s not that hard. Just wait for the price drop or super/gold/ultimate/mega/godly edition and the problem is solved.
this argument is not going to reach resolution.
The facts are yes, they have essentially broken the law and decided to play DLC characters online.
Is it wrong to do this?
Yes it may be…
OR does Capcom get what they deserve for putting them on the disk in the first place?
I prefer on disk DLC for less downloading times, but I think the more important question is…
WHERE IS DEE JAY?!
Relax he might make it eventually. Capcom is definitely known for raping wallets, but they are NOT known for doing it just once. Meaning there will prob be other not on disc characters down the road
I agree with this. Most of this situation seems to be a large case of “WELL IF I CAN’T HAS IT IMA BE AGAINST IT!”. Though this doesn’t apply to everyone, just most.
can’t believe people cry about hackers when they exposed the dirty Capcom business practices for this game. ignorance is bliss i suppose…
Capcom makes a lot of excuses for bugs and missing features at launch, but hey… it didn’t stop them to make the DLC, instead of focusing on the core game!! this is what bugs me the most…
It’s a meaningless distinction whether the DLC characters are on the disc or not. The game you bought was advertised as having those 40 characters (which is a lot of characters for day 1). It wasn’t until after people purchased the game that they found out that the DLC characters were on the disc. If you don’t think that it’s a good deal to get 40 characters for $60 and another 12 later on for $20, then don’t buy it! If your argument is over the technical issue of the characters already being on the disc, then you’re arguing over a pointless fact. Now if you want to talk about getting shafted by Capcom you should focus your rage around the fact that couch coop online was a promised feature of the game, and yet it turned out to not be available on xbox. Or you could complain about the sound issues online. Those are both legitimate complaints about the game; those things were things that you expected to get when you bought the disc; therefore, they were relevant to your decision to purchase the game. The DLC on the disc was not disclosed and therefore not relevant to your decision to buy the game.
As far as the hackers go…I really don’t care. If they get banned, well they kinda brought it on themselves for going online with them. The one thing I would say to Capcom is that there’s no reason to not release the DLC now. At least now we’ll have it earlier than expected (April 3), but I don’t really understand why they don’t go ahead and let legit players have a chance to play the characters. I’m happy with my purchase as far as the content of the game is concerned, but I won’t be completely satisfied until xbox has 2 player online and they fix the sound bug. Other than that Capcom has done nothing wrong imo (except ruining megaman).
I don’t get these complaints that these people are getting months of experience before these characters are released. Aren’t the people they’re fighting against getting match up experience against these characters as well?
I agree if you’re talking about online. But offline, it’s completely different. You can scout out/learn anti-Kazuya strategies offline if you have friends that are decent and because of training mode. When release day comes, you finally go online with a character you’ve had 6 months of practice with and developed strategies against each of the original 38 and nobody knows what the **** to do against your character, it’s an experience advantage.
Yeah, sure, but I don’t think it’s realistic to say that you’ll have 6 months worth of match up experience against the whole cast, unless you can get big tournaments with the hacked characters - which will lead to the people in said tournament getting experience.
You guys are overrating the amount of experience these people can get considering they will not have access to these characters in most tournaments and online. Best you can get is get a few of your friends that are really good with some characters and play, but even then it’ll be extremely limited since you’ll only be fighting a single said character player - and the number of characters you’ll be learning will be limited as well. Will they have an advantage? Sure they will. Is this advantage big enough to say it’s unfair? Not at all.
Besides, who guarantees we won’t be getting balance changes alongside these characters?
Hideki Kamiya summed it up on his twitter last night that relates to this:
“If it costs money to make the content above what was planned for the game, you should pay for it. Even if it is on-disc”…let that sink in for a moment. https://twitter.com/#!/PG_kamiya
REALLY GUYS???
Quote from spensenvensem capcom "If you can capture screens or video of this in action (as some have already) we’re working on bans for boxes and accounts with Microsoft for haxxors"
Even after all the lies capcom feed you with every press release and blog and interview filling your minds full of shit you still believe them.
I got nothing against capcom because I really like most there games but they are lying to you guys again and again and again.
This is just lies and they aint banning anyone and if they really wanted evidence of people cheating on XBL they would just go on the replay channel for the new characters.
This would actually make a lot of sense to someone who isn’t rational.
When I buy a game, I’m not expected to expect anything amazing?
Are you implying that every customer has to deal with the chance that every good they purchase might not come with customer feedback?
If Capcom was some minor company that couldn’t spare the extra, “We love you guys for supporting our game! Here’s BONUS” then I would agree to this.
But, speaking from a gamer pov; I always expect some sort of additional feedback for taking my time out to buy this game.
If you tell me that I should be happy playing a game that has zero unlockable features, zero additional modes, zero unlockable characters, zero plot, then what am I playing the game for?
Look at Smash Bros., Marth, Mewtwo, Gannodorf, Falco, Mr.Game and Watch were not showing their asses in front of your T.V. Screen encouraging you to buy the game. They were the additional love for buying the game and playing it.
Street Fighter X Tekken doesn’t have that… Instead it has a price tag on fucking everything… Even the gems… something as minor as items in smash bros. will have a price tag.
I’m utterly disgusted at some people who claim themselves actually liking this practice from a company that was once respected by many…
Don’t worry, you will be the first to be banned, since everyone and their mother seen the Combobeast video, and everyone knows that’s your alt account.
Sucks man, you were “Top 5 online in Europe”… and that will be gone soon enough. Hope your trolling was worth the $200 for the banned 360/XBL account.
Lmao that it’s week 3 and people are still pissed off this much…it’s done they are trying to handle it I’m sure the salty people are the ones snitching and taddle telling on people who are using the characters online, so my question is do you feel vindicated?
Has anyone noticed the people who go above and beyond the standard hate capcom rants are the people who haven’t bought the game or they say they love capcom/capcom games lool funny stuff
