Hacked DLC characters being used online, thoughts?

Your acting like it’s a bad thing that people who use hacks are banned…

I like how the majority of these posts aren’t calling it for what it really is: cheating.

Yeah, I like how the majority of posts who are backing it up are by users that don’t play the game…

So…you condone hacking and cheating? I mean its not really diverting attention from anything. The fact is they’re cheating to get an unfair advantage online. Not sure I see the issue with Capcom and Microsoft issuing bans.

Despite the fact that I won’t be picking up the game myself, I do have a good friend who has a hacked Xbox and I got to put the “DLC” characters through their paces the other night. If the version of the game that I played was being sold for $60, I’d say it’s a good deal. For $120 though? It’s a ripoff.

Honestly its $60, and then +20 whenever the 12 characters come out (assuming you buy for full price, if you get used you can get all characters for $60 - so technically the version you played could be $60).

In fighting games (or most genres) you can’t really count optional items that offer no advantage over other players as part of the total price (costumes are only cosmetic), especially when you can grab a couple of outfits if you really like them for just $1. That’s like saying to play LoL you have to invest thousands of dollars for all the costumes, when I know people who didnt put a cent in and played all the characters. And BTW, average costumes there cost $10 (5 if you catch a sale) and they are very successful, $1 is honestly nothing imo.

This game (with or without costumes) is cheaper than SF4 and MvC3, and equivalent to MK, for all the characters. Hell it’s even cheaper than SF4 and MvC3 if you include the costumes.

I for one am happy that hackers are exposing Capcom and even getting ballsy playing the disk locked content characters online. If I could, I’d hack my xbox and play with Cody, Elena, Dudley, Lei, Alisa, Lars and Guy. Its funny to me that Capcom drags their feet fixing bugs but when people start playing with disc locked content online, they are Johnny on the (rhymes with “mucking”) Spot trying to get them banned. And asking MS to help them hand out bans AFTER they blamed the local co-op not being on the xbox 360 on MS. I’m not gonna get salty over the hackers having access to the characters I want to learn/main as it will fix nothing. Keep it up hackers.

Its sad that there are Capcom fanboys willing to snitch on others for having access to characters. It tells me two things about them; 1. They are salty as hell and 2. They like getting ripped off. Hate to see what kind of kids they were.

From the tone of your whole post, you can see who’s really the salty one…

So it’s okay if hackers screw legit players who don’t have access to the content? And it’s okay to break not just the licensing agreements but the consoles terms of use as well?

Why don’t people just start hacking the games statistics as well while they are at it, making it so matches arent even fair anymore. Would you support that too?

Nope, I’m not salty at all. Seems to me like the salty ones are Capcom and its defense force.

The thing is hackers aren’t screwing legit players. They merely exposed Capcom by showing us that the content is already on the disc and to me, it says Capcom intended to charge people TWICE for the same game. Thats 60 USD for the retail cost on top of the 20 USD for the character disc locked content key on top of the 26 USD for both costume packs. That totals up anywhere from 80 - 106 USD for a fighting game. This says to me that Capcom wanted to charge more than the standard 60 USD for Street Fighter X Tekken but they didn’t as they knew it wouldn’t sell too well, if at all (I wouldn’t have bought it at all no matter how solid the game is and fighting is my favorite genre). Capcom screwed legit players/their fans and their defense force is fine with it from what I’ve seen. As for it being ok to break licensing agreements/ToU, seeing as I haven’t done it as I don’t want to be out of 300+ USD, I’d say no, its not ok. However, that doesn’t mean I disagree with what the hackers are doing and if I had money to throw away, I’d do the same thing. Capcom brought this on themselves.

And now you’re reaching just a bit.

I’m reaching? You just listed casual novelty items as part of the full cost of a game. If you do that for any fighting game (or game of ANY genre) you will find costs far above double the normal cost. Funny how you didn’t respond when I said that in my other post - avoiding the truth of the matter.

And you say they are “merely showing us the content on the disk”? Everyone already knew its on the disk for one, and more importantly they are doing much more than showing us, they hacked the system, broke the rules (and technically the law) while doing so.

Not to mention you just said about breaking agreements it’s not okay, but then your next sentence is you don’t disagree… that’s contradictory. Talk about reaching…

You know who brought it on themselves? The people who hacked their consoles when they knew it was against the rules.

Hmm Am I spouse to be upset or something that there using the DLC characters online?

Im more upset that capcom didn’t give us these characters day 1 when we 1st purchased the game.

Sure, just bend over and take it from Clapcom*…

But considering how they’re playing hardball like this with 360 owners, maybe they should consider fighting back and slapping 'em with a class-action lawsuit over the false advertising in removing couch co-op.

*Why ‘Clapcom’? 'cause they’re a bunch of dirty fucks, of course.

The content is already on the disk that they paid for. How DARE they access it.

Such a great outlook on the topic… For a 7 yr old who does not understand the world. A , it’s my ball and I’m taking it home! Approach.

Translation: He doesn’t agree with the Capcom Defense Force, he must be a seven year old kid. Stay salty bro.

The licensing agreement is linked on the back of the box that they paid for. How DARE they read it.

The Xbox 360 licencing agreement is accepted when you sign up for XBL. How DARE they read it.

Someone break the licencing agreement and they are free to do w/e they want. As you said, “stay salty”.

I see Capcom as the ones screwing over the legit players, since they are rewarding hackers. Hackers get to play as all characters right now instead of 8 months down the road, and legitimate players can’t because Capcom made the boneheaded decision to lock the characters so that they could charge extra for them later. Capcom made the choice to lock these characters and no-one else, so they are the ones that the community should be pissed at. The fact that they are trying to get their loyalist fans to snitch on people playing as locked characters only shows that they are 100% in damage control mode and don’t give a shit about making amends for their own bad behavior.

When PSN got hacked, Sony apologized and gave out free games. When SFXT got hacked, Capcom just says “be a patriotic Capcom fanboy and help us rat out them dirty commies!” while completely ignoring the questioning about whether or not locking such a vast amount of finished on-disc content was even ethical or moral to begin with. Capcom dicked their customers, so their customers are dicking them back. It’s a vicious cycle of dicking that all started with Capcom themselves.

Spyridon has been wiping this page clean with you and the only thing you can say is stay salty bro…

BACK TO YOUR BRIDGE TROLL

You can be upset with whoever you want, but like it or not, by playing the game online users are obligated to follow the licensing agreement of both MS and Capcom. If people decide to break those rules they are open to get punished for it.

If you really didn’t want to follow the rules then the best thing you could have done is not buy the game. It’s kind of silly to conform to the rules and then be mad at the people who made the rules instead of the ones who broke them. Even sillier to support the people who agreed and then broke them.

If you want to protest them, don’t conform to the rules in the first place. That would actually get somewhere. But conforming to the rules and then complaining about them is just a waste of time and going to make you look silly. Because they have it in writing that hacking is wrong and you are not allowed to get the content before anyone else.

Can you honestly say you don’t see how little sense it makes to agree to the licensing terms as a legitimate player, and then supporting the people who broke those rules? That’s pretty much saying you want people to take advantage of you.

Besides, banning isnt rewarding hackers, that’s why it’s pretty surprising that people are actually arguing with the fact that people are getting banned. With a banned XBL account/box they are losing much more money in the long run. Approximately $200… so let Combobeast laugh with his troll info message “wait till sep and pay $20” or whatever it was, because he can “wait till your ban and pay $200”.
