ps- does riding a gate cause any long term usage damage to the stick itself? Like is it something I should be striving to avoid or does it not matter/just a preference thing?
Oh and btw, every once in a while my RT and LT buttons just stop working on the stick. Usually I have to replug to get them back. What is the cause of this? Is it regular problem or should I be worried and RMA etc?
It is a known problem.
There is no way to fix it, except replacing the PCB.
You can ask Mad Catz to send you a replacement PCB if you want.
They do that, even after the warranty.
Some speculate that there is a Grounding Leak.
So just ground the PCB and it will fix.
But problem will come back.
So should I call them and do that? Is it hard to do?

Best thing to do (IMO) is move the quick disconnects around (inside the stick) so that the right and left trigger end up as the 3P/3K buttons. This enables you to switch to the Controller Type B setting (MvC2 TE Stick layout) and use it as normal without fear of your buttons randomly shorting out.
Here’s the layout for 360:
X Y LB LT
A B RB RT
This obviously works best if you don’t use the outside buttons for 3P/3K, but at the very least, you’ll always have the option of just hitting all three buttons to activate ultra now instead of having one button not work.
I went to AA yesterday. Pretty cool spot. Only like 5-6 people there playing sf4 though. I wanna play some 3s
fuck what the hell, I just loaded up 3s and my left is acting strange, it clicks over but won’t walk. I put the stick in the top left corner and it just jumps straight up. I keep trying to hold it over and sometimes I get a dash back or it walks a bit.

it’s only reading when it hits the rail most of the time (or just slightly before) as opposed to registering right when you hear the stick click. And when I touch the top left corner sometimes it doesn’t jump or do anything at all.
^ No. The stock SE joystick is crap, and its a Sanwa knockoff. Basically put, the washer moves around and scratches off the PCB and renders it useless.
Do you have it set to DP? Does this act up in just 3rd strike or any other game you play?

my friend plays blanka, its cool. And yea it’s set to DP, and i have a TE R2 like thread title states. I opened up the windows game controller thing that shows inputs and it really is pretty bad on the left directions and even sometimes on the right directions. Pretty sure its what’s causing my problems with doing super moves. I was just doing the motions with the thing on and I noticed it would jump to a cardinal direction for a split second before going to the corner direction a lot of times and vise versa. Like the stick is just really inaccurate. should I rma this or is there a loose washer in here too?
Just wanted to update and say thanks again for all who helped me. I finally got my parts that I ordered on the 3rd (got lost in the mail). Circle gate and double spring helping immensely. Still need to practice the motions but I am not getting recoil on the stick during motions causing problem and it feels a lot smoother than the square gate as well. Woot!
PS- I went to Alex’s Arcade a few times and it’s usually the same crowd of dudes there playing SF4. No one ever playing sf3
