Gyah Kita Ki (My demon brethren): The Firebrand teams and assists thread

Cool. Does Firebrand’s fireball assist allow Wesker to carry and continue his combos? I typically will do Task assist + teleport to open them up, typical lmhs mmhs, otg + assist, etc. Does Firebrand’s work okay or does it cause too much hitstun to do a follow up lmhs mmhs > otg + thc? I’ve noticed some assists make them bounce out prematurely, but Doom’s works really well.

Similarly, what are your bnbs or ways to open people up with Firebrand? I imagine arrow assist + cross up fly… what can Wesker’s assist do for Firebrand? I imagine with all of Firebrand’s long extended combos that Wesker to continue combos isn’t really necessary. Any easy ways to set up unblockables safely with Wesker assist and Firebrand’s divekicks or quick overheads?

Yeah Firebrands fireball does allow him to continue combos, it’s actually pretty nice because it holds the opponent closer to the ground than most assists. Makes it easier to connect the MMHS in the air as opposed to other assists that might lift them too high for that combo to land easily. I can easily do the regular magic series to the otg relaunch to THC. THC’ing with firebrand is nice if you accidently cancel the gunshot too early Firebrands super will still lift them. :stuck_out_tongue:

For my firebrand combos I just do the typical bnb, dive kick, relaunch, bon voyage, etc. Ending usually with Firebrand super to Maximum Wesker if I have the bars, otherwise I just go for another mixup with Firebrand. Typically in that situation Firebrand cross up fly + arrows is really good, arrows give a lot of time to react if they hit. Weskers assist doesn’t do a lot for Firebrand, I actually haven’t even used it in a combo in a regular match yet. Typically Wesker ends up being my point character after DHC, so I don’t get a lot of opportunities. Something I need to get into the lab with to see if Wesker assist extending combos is worth it. As for unblockables you could theoretically do his instant overhead jumping jab and call Wesker assist, timing sounds like it should be right in theory for you to be able to go right into bon voyage. I haven’t used that application yet though, will try it tomorrow during a practice session with a friend.

Hey guys, forgive me if someone already brought this team up, but I think for the first time in MVC3 I have found a team that has good synergy for me. C. Viper/Firebrand/Sentinel (Burnkick/anything/drones).

I’ve been maining FB since launch because I like his character design and game series. Anyways the team—we all know Sent is good with just about any character for his drones assist, but finding a character that can DHC into FB, or vice versa has been tough. Characters like Storm, Hawkeye, etc can definitely do it, but of course I wanted to see all the options.

Viper’s bnb into supers actually let’s FB catch most (of course much more efficient against the wall) of his hits from his Dark Fire, and also DHC’s into Luminous Body really well to allow him to catch with a Bon Voyage and continue mixups. BOTH characters have an unblockable setup with Drones assist (Focus Attack/H charged Demon Missile) which is something that I truly like about this team.

Both characters have great mobility with Viper’s 8 way air dash and FB’s Hell’s Elevator/Dives. Plus, like many have already mentioned before, you can raw tag into Viper from Bon Voyage (With FB on point though). With 2 meters, you can team hyper with Viper + FB with Viper on alpha assist and they both hit vertically and otg.

Anyways there are many more aspects I didn’t list, but I thought this was a great team that I was hoping the FB community would check out and get some insight on as well!

I’m going to start my firebrand learning with Firebrand/Taskmaster/Sentinel. The support to Firebrand is simple/obvious and I also enjoy playing Task and Sent. Looking forward to learning Firebrand though.

^^ My same exact team, except with task on point. Haven’t taken it online yet but it seems to work pretty well.

Hey Ive been enjoying the brand for a while now. I’m currently running Brand(swoop) / Sent(drones) / Akuma(Tatsu). Ive been using the dark fire to otg at the end of a combo then DHCing early into HSF or the ball. I also noticed its easy to get an assist in after the bon voyage. This is making getting the hell spitfire to hit otg easier for me wich allows for me to go for a relaunch.

I’m obviously using the drones to cover brand and I have also found that calling tatsu then doing demon missile H followed allows for a nice mixup and good positioning for an air bon voyage.

Any thoughts on this team?

I’ve been working on Firebrand (fireball)/Ryu (tatsu)/Sentinel (drones). Those assists cover Firebrand’s keep away or rush down pretty well and open combos anytime they connect. What do you guys think?

I currently run Nemesis a/Firebrand y/Cap. America a. Nemesis does insane damage without meter, and I can very quickly build up tons of meter for FB when he comes in. Cap’s Sheild Slash is mostly for zoning, but can work as a combo extender when I need that extra oomph. Firebrand’s Swoop assist is great for mixups with Nemesis on point. Still working on some individual tech with my team, but they work rather well together if done correctly.

What do you guys think of Firebrand/Sentinel/Ryu? Or Firebrand/Ryu/Sentinel? Or do you think Akuma would better fit in instead of Ryu?

I’m really liking Taskmaster (A) Frank West (A) Firebrand (B)

anyone use firebrand with MODOK? I"m looking for a way to get my opponent to the corner quickly, AND I’m looking for an assist that will help me combo jamming bomb. IF firebrand can do these two things, I will invest some time into learning him

RayRay used that team when he was trying to learn Firebrand. Firebrand/Ryu has good DHC Synergy and Firebrand/Sentinel is one of the best couples in the game IMO.

Explain it. Looks weird to be honest.

So my love for Cap has grown and my love for Firebrand is still intact. I wanna make a team with them. Anybody know a good character for the third slot? Try not to say Wesker or Sentinel. The only reason is that I don’t like Cap with Sentinel or Wesker.

But Captain’s space control game is so much better with drones. o.o

That said, since Captain has a strong, reliable OTG now instead of needing an assist for it Vajra’s hard knock down can be pretty spiffy for both characters!

Maybe I should end this once and for all right here.

I got into an argument with one of the better Marvel 3 players in Michigan. He believes that Firebrand is a good anchor because of his speed.

So Imma ask for you guys opinion. Is Firebrand a good anchor? Is he meant to be a point character? Or do you use him for an assist?

It’s really up to their playstyle. IMO, he can fit into any three slots well, as long as the other two characters work well with him.
I usually start FB on point and if my mixups are doing really well against my opponent, I keep him there. Otherwise, I try to TAC him out for X23 where he really helps her corner resets or relaunch as an assist (Hellfire Spit).

On the offchance X23 and Taskmaster die first, I play it safe with FB with keepaway until I can land a knockdown into Luminous Body + Lvl 3 + Lvl3 Xfactor. You’re at a great advantage when the opponent is standing up and you have a crazy fast character swooping in from all directions.

I wouldn’t base my team around FB as anchor though, as getting hit once with almost anyone turns into a TOD combo. But that’s just me.

I guess Firebrand could be a good anchor with his Luminous Body + XF3, but his assists aren’t great enough to warrant saving him as anchor versus being a menace on point with assists.

Firebrand like all characters who aren’t Dark Phoenix I feel gets more out of good assists than he does out of X-factor 3. He is scary in X-factor 3, but having things to supplement his neutral game or give him unblockables benefits him more than the speed/damage increase. IMO

I wouldnt use him as an anchor by choice. Luminous body speeds up his assist making his fireball otg way better, but his dmg output is so low and all it takes is one combo to kill him that the risk is higher than the reward. His real strength comes in with assist and setting up unblockables. He builds good meter and his supers are weak which means he is better as a battery similar to how people use zero. It can be done, but way to risky for my taste, Id rather have my Hawkeye or Dorm in XF lvl 3 since they can pretty much chip ppl out or kill with one combo unlike firebrand.

What would be good characters to complement a Firebrand/Morrigan combination, with Morrigan as anchor? Tried out Taskmaster today, worked out alright, but I wonder if I’m missing a character that would be perfect in that team. Morrigan in on meter assist btw.

I use Firebrand/Dormammu/Morrigan.
