That is basically the exact setup I was looking for Kresent.
As I said, I was trying out the FB/Doom/Skrull shell, but just can not get behind Skrull. I just flat out suck with the character, and I find his links and whatnot funky feeling. Getting rid of Skrull removes the unblockable incoming setups, which sucks, but lets be honest, that is about ALL he contributes to the team. He makes a decent anchor, but better anchors certainly exist. Tenderizer isn’t really that useful outside of setting up the incoming unblockables and very rarely as a lockdown/extension tool.
I am liking the team with Strider quite a bit. Still getting the hang of converting off of Vajra consistently (which can admittedly be a pain in the ass at times), and losing the unblockable setups sucks, but I feel like I have a much more solid anchor, and being able to run both a neutral assist and an assist that protects vertical space seems to help a lot in certain matchups. I was focusing on killing people with TACs before, so the transition isn’t much of an issue.
I have been screwing around here and there with Doom using Molecular Shield as well, mostly just for shits and giggles. I will say, if nothing else, I have noticed that it travels at EXACTLY the same speed as a grounded Bon Voyage, and seems to be make it even safer than PB does. I have noticed people seem to lack experience dealing with it on incoming as well, since Molecular Shield has a hurtbox on both sides of Doom which for some reason people just seem to forget about. It is surprising how many people get opened up by running behind them, calling Doom, then backing off (so Dooms back is facing the incoming opponent as they drop in) then applying FB incoming pressure as usual.
Still prefer PB, because, well, its PB, but I have been surprised how well Molecular Shield has been working for FB.
I’m changing from Firebrand/Dormammu/Shuma-Gorath to Firebrand/Dormammu/Vergil. I’m just gonna see how it goes.
I haven’t got the confidence in Shuma when he’s the last character and he has horrendous matchups. It’s just winding me up.
I could use Doom, but to be honest I actually believe the neutral assists are better for Dormammu and Skrull than they are for Firebrand. The beams only seem to be there to make Demon Missiles M safe.
So I have been playing with Firebrand(missile),Skrull(Tenderizer), and Shuma(Ray). I really love all of these characters and really want to make this team work. I can do a raw tag into shuma from 3/4 screen like Angelic has shown us in his vid, and there are even full screen conversions with the team. I have been approaching Super Skrull unblockables and it is going perfectly fine, but I have a major problem: The shuma hard tag only works on 2/3 the cast. This isn’t bad, but it doesn’t work on popular characters like Doom, Wesker, Sentinal, and even Ammy and Hawkeye to name a few others. That is a problem for me so I figure I would just have to counter pick to my Strange tales team to deal with a team heavily based with those characters. I play against my brother often, and he derps around with wesker drones and dark phoenix. This is very hard for my team because wesker doesn’t have any of my Shuma Raw Tag bs and then I can’t do the Tenderizer unblockable on incomming because his secondary and anchor have invincible hypers. All in all: I am still in the lab and I am trying to find ways around this. Worse comes to worse, I will just have to counterpick to a secondary team if my team cannot handle this. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas to get my creative juices flowing? Thanks in advance.
@OfTheEarth. Try a way to get Firebrand/Dorm/Strange or Firebrand/Skrull/Strange working. I’ll think up some things in a bit.
Oh, and I just made this:

Nice vid. Yeah I do the shuma rawtag into the corner. It’s too bad Dante doesn’t do that much damage. Something I am thinking could actually be worth it though, is trying to do that Firebrand to Dante Raw tag like you showed in the video, then put strange on anchor to do the acid rain rawtag setup into strange for the FoF loops. I also think Jam Session could probably provide that much of an unblockable setup for Firebrand. That is still, just theory fighter talking though…
On the note of Firebrand/Dorm/Strange. There is synergy between Dorm and Firebrand, as Angelic has showed us in his videos. And My other team is a Shuma team with Shuma(Ray),Dorm(Hole),Strange(Bolts) in that order, and I believe that Dorm and Strange have a lot of synergy together when he is secondary. Chaotic Flame DHC SoV is good for confirms, and he can happy birthday a whole team with just stranges assist. I also love pretending im just a slow magneto and calling bolts to assist dorm for opening up certain character. So that shell in itself is not bad. The problem I find with Firebrand and Strange, is that besides a neutral assist that can surely help firebrands neutral game, I don’t really think Strange could do much for firebrand. There aren’t any possibilities that I know of Firebrand Rawtaging into FoF Loops(Except on MODOK during a Corner Bon Voyage) So I really don’t think that team could really bring out Firebrands full potential, though I do believe it isn’t a bad team.
And on the note of Firebrand/Skrull/Strange. Firebrand and Skrull are certainly BFFs and going for the Death Loop is always an option, and Strange assists Skrull as well, in neutral game and off of grabs. But again, I don’t really think there is too much Strange could do to help firebrand in the damage department. On another Theory Fighter note, I was reading on a video of Hi Im Nasty(really good Skrull player and scientist) and he says the only way he could think of putting Skrull and Strange together is if you Spend two meter doing inferno DHC to Seven Rings of Raggador hyper, and using an OTG assist to help Strange Pick them up off of the ground for a full FoF combo, which MAYBE Firebrand could do with his fire assist. Theory fighter still…
Hope I could have helped out at all. Thanks for the reply.
It’s not just the assist though. Plasma Beam is extra durability that Firebrand needs to control the ground. But it’s also the TACs and hard tags and DHCs. The hard tags alone warrant running Doom.
Firebrand/Dormammu/Vergil has no neutral assist. I don’t think you’re going to get much out of Rapid Slash with Firebrand
You’re also never going to have meter. If you do manage to build a second bar in your first confirm, you’ll use it all to DHC to Dormammu and then you’ll have none, but three characters that desperately need it.
The only two chracters you have absolutely no raw tag options against are Haggar and Sentinel. The characters that don’t work with the raw tag straight from ABV in the corner will get hit by the side switch; after air d+H, you wait until they get low to the ground, cr. M, cr. H, 236S, and Firebrand will cross them up and you can hard tag in any character that has OTG stuff, so I’d assume you can just do a different Shuma combo but I’m not a Shuma expert.
This is true. You either need a projectile assist to help him control the ground, or something that will nullify your opponent’s zoning game like Jam Session. If you don’t at least play a secondary that has one or the other, you will get torn a new asshole against Zero since he can walk/run/teleport/buster under wall cling fireballs.
A lot, but without a way to go from Firebrand directly into the loop Strange is not nearly as good a partner as Doom even though Bolts is a much better assist. If there was a way to hard tag or even DHC into a full loop, Firebrand/Strange would probably be the strongest Firebrand shell.
Yeah, I’m going to make a video about this in the next few days.
Yeah. Angelic goes into detail on his vid saying that it also doesn’t work on Hulk, Wesker, Doom, and other characters. And I was just about to say, that I have been trying that side switch with Firebrand and Shuma, but it doesn’t work. I get the OTG, but the combo to keep them in (Standing H., demon missile assist call, M. Stare)Doesn’t work. Its too far away. I will post a video with my findings soon.
Actually I have a theory on this, but I don’t have the execution to pull it off. So if someone on this thread wants to give it a whirl and see what they can come up with.
After bon voyage, don’t back dash but immediately on recovery go into a wall cling and do FBs H fireball. Hold the tag button to tag in Strange during the fireball animation. FB will jump over the opponent and the fireball will OTG them and Strange comes in, hits them, and pops them up. I think you get enough time to hit them with something quick and start the loops.
Since I don’t play Strange and haven’t the slightest clue how to do IP loops, I haven’t gotten much further than this, but I do know that that first part works. I just don’t know what to do afterwards. Although I could have sworn I’ve seen this idea somewhere before so it may or may not have been tested, but I haven’t seen and confirmation of it working or not working.
So I found a way to hard tag strange in from a kidnap as long as its 3/4 screen or closer. If my friend brings his stream equipment then I can get a video up soon.
There was an H spitfire setup in a video a while ago, but I don’t think it used the wall cling. I do believe you had to be in luminous body though, and for some reason H hell spitfire really cranks up the HSD, so you probably wouldn’t get more than a rep or two of the loop. If I get some time in the next few days I’ll try it out.
Sounds good, but which kidnap? air bon voyage and ground bon voyage have different raw tag properties, and ABV acts differently for raw tags if it’s against a grounded opponent like after a luminous body instant overhead.
Its ABV i haven’t tried to do a grounded one but i hardly ever use that version because its so unsafe. I did test using raw ABV and using it in a combo and they both work fine. If you want to double check thats fine they way you set it up is you do your normal ground series and when you launch instead of going up forward go straight up then do medium, two hits of heavy and then ABV hold back and delay the hard tag and strange will come in on the front and knock the opponent into the air if you do it right you can go into a crouching light with strange then standing medium into impact palm loops.
I found a way to raw tag from Firebrand’s Bon Voyage into Dormammu and then use Demon Missile to get a further combo from it. I’m still finding so many new things with my Firebrand/Vergil/Dormammu team. I’m enjoying it.
Anyway from 3/4 screen or further Bon Voyage then hold tag to bring in Dormammu wait for Firebrand to become active and call him. Do a Flame Carpet then dash and press St.M then Launcher and you can then do a combo. My combo build’s a bar and goes into a Sword Loop.
I’m looking forward to see your Strange tag combo, warchicken. It’ll hopefully make Firebrand/Strange/Ammy viable.
Here’s that Firebrand to Strange raw tag idea I was talking about. I can’t do the FoF loops so I don’t know for 100% sure if the spacing is right, I don’t know how many reps you would get off this, and I don’t know how many hits you’re allowed before the wall cling fireball before the opponent would pop out. Hopefully someone with better execution than I have can get more out of this.
Honestly the only part that has tough timing is the wall cling after the Bon Voyage, but even that isn’t that bad. The fact that I was able to pull it off means that pretty much anyone can. Also it’s probably even easier in Luminous Body. The cr. L, st. M with Strange after the tag is a lot more lenient than it looks.
