i think you are right
OMG THIS 100000000000 TIMES. So many set-ups… so many shenanigans. It makes Firebrands mix-up game bonkers…
Yes and no.
While he is in Level 3 X-Factor with Luminous Body? Yes.
As soon as Level 3 X-Factor runs out? No.
To me, the best way to play him would be to start him. Then, when you get a chance, DHC Luminous Body into something to finish a combo. Now his assist is much better and he’ll be super fast when he comes back in as your second character.
Thanks for the reply, That might work. Damn I need to get my hands on the game to try this stuff out(have to wait until around the 23rd)
Zero/Firebrand/Sentinel
Zero and Firebrand’s spots are interchangeable but generally like to start Zero since he’s great for meter building. Usually when Firebrand comes in, he has at least 3 bars to play with. And yeah, Firebrand with Sentinel Drones is pretty retarded, I don’t recall anyone being able to block Demon Missile M covered by Drones, ground series cancelled into ground Hell Elevator M with Drones backup is ridiculous, as is repeated Hell Dive L high/low antics. Still working on some stuff, how to apply flight pressure and whatnot, but this team is pretty godlike so far
I think I’ve settled on Firebrand(Swoop)/Viper(BK)/Sent(Drones)
I was running Doom, but the hidden missiles really weren’t doing a lot for the first two, it was just a scrubby gtfo move. His plasma beam works better for allowing them to move around, but if you want the horizontal space filled, use drones. Calling drones-> firebrand’s M air jump or M missile are free mixups every time. Even at distance, you can hit confirm drones into his bon voyage into bnb. He deals low damage and his hyper is kind of useless, but the battery potential for Viper is just scary. So, I mixup finishing with hyper or just air exchanging to Viper to deal even further damage. Lastly, Viper’s BK hits high, while Firebrand has a slide, it sets up unblockables all around.
Another interesting teammate for Firebrand is Frank West. Bon Voyage in bnbs can really fill up the combo hits. After an exchange into Frank->camera, he’s already at lv3. I tried it a bit, but I’m just not feeling Frank as much as Viper.
i’m thinking Firebrand(swoop)/Modok(blaster/bomb)/Sent(drones) or Dante(jam)
Both Firebrand and MODOK get better mixup with drones or compliment their air games with jam session. Also, Firebrand’s easy corner carry from landing bon voyage sets up MODOKs TOD exchange combos perfectly. I’m not 100% sold on the third, but the space that you can control with drones/jam session seems hard to pass up.
@crimmalupper im running that same team and i want know wht assist are you using for zero and friebrand i have the shippuga and fireball but im not sure wht to use
Did anybody use Firebrand at WNF?
Firebrand/Arthur (Daggers) /Wesker(Chun-Li) -
Firebrand has great speed, but a shitty approach. Flying is generally unsafe and is easily punishable unless doing Hell Dive Med and spamming Light while in the air.
But his wavedash is god-tier and Arthur’s Daggers have very high durability and easily beat out other projectile especially when upgraded. So essentially Firebrand becomes a moving wall of death when wavedashing with Arthur’s projectiles. Chun-Li’s fat ass comes in handy when pinning down the opponent at close range, or Wesker is just good for general derpiness…
With Zero I’m running Hadangeki for now, in Sougenmu it’s a pretty good projectile assist that Firebrand could benefit from. I’m still playing about with extensions so it could change
For Firebrand I’m running Demon Missile M. Now I would run the Swoop, but the Straight version looks to be better for Zero’s combos. And it’s decent for Left/Rights with Hienkyaku during a blockstring. I’ll probably stick to this assist unless I find anything interesting with his Fireball assist
I disagree. Swoop in Luminous body is one of the best assists in the game IMO.
If you wanted to use a power-up to use his assist, you should play Hsien-ko instead RT.
Swoop is decent though. Its good for corner cross-ups.
Yes, and Hsien Ko and Firebrand are equally good on point, amirite?
If I wanted to use Hsien Ko, I wouldn’t be posting in this section.
I know that… but… why?
I would rather use the assist raw. Shit don’t make a difference. They are usable sped up or not.
Sorry but I respectfully disagree with using him for his average to bad assist. He is a point character. You probably can put him in the second slot, but I wouldn’t.
The alpha assist is, IMO, really decent. Great for locking people down in pressure strings. I use mags and firebrand, and its awesome for mixups as well, it acts like some really low-to-the-ground sentinel drones or something.
Why not use Hsien-ko and Firebrand?
Senpu Bu guarantees him those wonderful unblockable setups.
I typically use him as my second character, however I have noticed in the few times when he ends up anchoring (tagged out to 3rd char, snapbacks or w/e) he is REALLY good lvl 3 x factor with his lvl 3. I once killed 3 nearly full health characters before the level 3 ran out. I think experimenting with him as an anchor could be a valid choice, the main concern is of course he isn’t an assist character, and he won’t have an assist as anchor; on paper its bad, but I encourage others to try him out on anchor a few matches and see how they like it.
After watching some guy body a whole team with Firebrand last night I have decided to drop X-23 in my team in favor of Firebrand. Where position is he most effective in and how meter heavy is he? The team I had was Nova (nova strike)/Hawkeye (violet fizz)/ X-23(ankle slice) but Hawkeye and X-23 drain my meter.
i put him on the second spot because i want him to be using his poweer up super a lot since it makes him better. I guess nova could build meter for him and anchor hawkeye.
