Gyah Kita Ki (My demon brethren): The Firebrand teams and assists thread

Firebrand likes Vajra - it’s not his #1 assist, but he can both protect it well and convert off the knockdown. Of the teams you mentioned, FB/Vergil/Strider is the stronger one. FB can raw tag into Vergil to fix his damage issues, and I’m pretty sure Vergil actually has uses for Firebrand’s alpha-assist as well. FB/Dorm is a strong pairing, but Dorm doesn’t convert off of Vajra that well - that duo works better with Dante on anchor.

Keeping tabs.

Just found the basis of some Firebrand/Ammy anti-phoenix tech.

c(L, M, H, S) sj(H2, d+H, L helldive) c(H, S) sj(H2 xx kidnap) dash back, s(H2 + call ammy) c(H xx H demon missile)
H2 = both hits of H

Phoenix will die near the end of cold star, and as soon as she transforms the demon missile will be fully charged and unblockable.

Can you post a video of that in action? Sounds interesting.

Here you go

How do Firebrand and Dante work together?

Was thinking about Firebrand/Frank/Dante, would that be viable?

Firebrand+Frank is the bigger issue. Dante is one of Firebrand’s best assists giving him unblockable setups with Jam Session and THC. I’ve played the team a bit in training mode and the lack of a good DHC from FB to Frank is one of my biggest gripes. Firebrand doesn’t level Frank that well either so you are really relying on the THC of Frank+Dante after Firebrand dies, TACing from Firebrand to Frank which is risky, or Frank getting a clean hit when he comes in. If you do get Frank leveled Firebrand’s assists are only OK at best for supporting him. Bottom line: They are both characters that need teams that work around them and both work best on point…it’s fun but tough.

Based on your video, this looks pretty solid, but I have a possible concern. If Phoenix goes Dark, is she able to X-Factor and either hit FB out of the move or teleport? It didn’t look like she had the time to do so, but if so it’s something to be aware of.

Frank is also able to do raw tag setups off of Bon Voyage, but the timing varies depending on screen position. If Firebrand finishes BV in the corner, it’s much harder to complete because Frank’s position isn’t guaranteed. From mid-screen or opposite corner, though, this setup is magical, since it gives Frank at least Level 3, plus resets damage scaling. Overall, the duo is pretty solid. I wouldn’t call it the best in the game, but they’re super fun together.

Damn. I’m an (expletive) idiot for not trying to use Frank raw tag after Bon Voyage. That definitely makes levelling him less risky but I agree that it isn’t the most optimal team for either character. Going to try going back in the lab with this and seeing what I can come up with.

It’s not a guaranteed setup, it’s just really hard to get out of. Phoenix needs a well timed jumping H (the setup beats mashing) or airdash.

Here is another setup

I think I like this one more. Even though you use X factor, it’s a much more flexible setup then the first one (as far as how much damage phoenix has taken)

What do people feel would be a good point character for x/firebrand/ammy?..I was thinking Modok…

Firebrand/Dormammu/Dante, anyone?

FlyingVe used to talk about that team a lot … I’ve tried to get him to post videos of his “200% BnB,” but he never did. :frowning:

I remember you mentioning that on the tier thread at one point. He doesn’t seem to care about UMvC3 judging from his recent videos. I do think it’s a sick team and
would have been a great choice for Mr. Bennett if he didn’t want to replace Dorm.

This team should be good. Does anyone have videos of Firebrand using jam session as an assist?

Thinking about running Firebrand/Taskmaster/Akuma. Any thoughts on this team?

Are Doom rocks a solid assist for Firebrand? My buddy is having a bit of a character crisis; right now he’s using Firebrand/Dormammu/Doom, but neither beam nor missiles have really been working out for him. I guess some questions about rocks:

Do they let Firebrand set up unblockables? Mid-combo and incoming?
Can he confirm an instand overhead off of them?
What about left/right mixups on the ground?

Thanks.

Rocks is like a hybrid between cold star and drones. Its really good. When I run Firebrand/Doom/Skrub I use rocks and tenderizer. You can setup unblockables and do left right mixups. Timing is a bit tricky for me. But I tend to use hard to block okizeme setups with rocks.

Rocks are definitely useable, especially if you’re not using a better lockdown assist like Cold Star. I believe you can use it to set up an unblockable on incoming, but the timing is extremely tight.
I think Plasma Beam is Doom’s best assist for Firebrand, though, as it covers approach and gives some nasty left/rights when combined with Hell’s Elevator.

My advice is pick either doom or dorm and add Ammy as anchor.
I run brnady/doom/ammy.
If your friend wants to see an amateur that play this team. You can youtube me.
Thanks.
