Firebrand should be on Dark Fire for sure, as it’d be great with Repulsar set-ups. Both Jam Session and Weasel Shot could work well with both characters - I’d normally advise Jam Session to guarantee one snapback -> unblockable, but you have Repulsar so that’s not necessary. Strider, Amaterasu, and Akuma all provide solid anchoring abilities and good assists for this pair, should you for some reason not want to use Dante.
Here’s my advice. Keep Spencer. Why? Because you really like Spencer. Firebrand and Spencer have chemistry because they can use the same neutral assists to their advantage. You’ll see my unorthodox team of Firebrand/Wolverine/Sentinel. I kept Wolvie on there because I like Wolvie and I know that I can overcome many bad match-ups by switching him onto point and rushing the opponent from the gamestart. I can x-factor kill problem characters easily and then bad match-ups become less awful (Ex. Morrigan/Magneto/Doom). Its never wrong to have a reliable safety buffer if Firebrand gets knocked out.
I’ve been trying out a Firebrand(charge)/Frank(pick me up)/Skrull (tenderizer) team which really is all about the 1 touch team kill. Do you guys think this gameplan could be viable? Would morrigan fit better in the second spot?
I ran the same team but I had shopping cart for Frank and the team is just plain nasty (and fun). I found that putting Skrull in spot 2 was a bit more effective since I was mostly leveling up Frank off raw tags or from a DHC off Skrull’s Inferno (therefore making Skrull anchor). The death loop also works without a meter gain assist with a bit more work (I posted the video somewhere).
I know it works without a meter gain assist, but there are ways to get out of it without the meter gain assist (being hit by skrulls tenderizer on purpose) the meter gain just ensures that I can loop it infinitely.
I also prefer skrull on anchor to frank because of his derpiness
team I’ll Take You On. both firebrand and viewttiful joe make excellent use of lightning legs assist. joes bomb assist allows for VERY dumb combos, and chun-li is the original representer of the TAC infinite until everyone else jacked her swag. haha
Firebrand/Frank is a super solid duo. Cart lets him do instant overhead xxx L Dive and then continue the combo from there. You can do the “Noel Brown” set up with Firebrand/Frank too. Gets you to possibly level 5. I think that if you want to play Firebrand and Frank, you should play Frank with Cart, especially if you don’t have anything you can use for neutral (beam, tatsu, cold star, etc.)
An example of some Firebrand/Frank play. I didn’t use cart alot, but in my recent matches, you will see me abuse it and instant overheads and tricky left/rights. If only I can find some
A page or so back, Trish/Firebrand was brought. I’d like to pick you Firebrand players’ brains on this a bit.
I currently run Viper/Trish/Ammy, not competitively. I think this team is actually quite solid. Viper and Trish both open people up with total ease thanks to Cold Star. A Viper combo starting with one meter typically builds another to DHC to Round Harvest and net roughly 1mil damage, thus leaving Trish on point to use Viper’s seismo assist to OTG, and of course Round Harvest unblockables work with Viper’s focus and Cold Star. Problem is I’m terrible with Viper, and I’m debating switching to Firebrand, but synergy concerns me. Low Voltage is decent to cover approaches but not great, and I don’t know if Peekaboo is really anything special with FB since he isn’t particularly a left/right mixup kind of character. My bigger concern is how does Firebrand benefit Trish. If his OTG does in fact work for Trish I cannot figure out how, and I’d really prefer to play her on point.
Is this team even worth it? I’m not really looking to replace Viper with someone who will benefit the team more, since I think my current team is practically as good as it gets, but I’m looking for something that is fun to me and still somewhat viable.
hey people just getting back into marvel after a long stint on SF and wanting to run a new team
anybody got any ideas if Firebrand/Dpool/Ammy would be a decent setup? or do FBrand/DPool have no synergy? havent been in the lab yet but i just wanted some ideas prior to my team, i want to make something different work?
FB and DP have pretty miserable synergy, which is a shame because they’re my two favorite characters in the game. About the only thing that works is their THC, which OTGs and does decent damage.
They both use a ground bounce (Devil Claw/Katana-rama) AND a wall bounce (Bon Voyage/Chimichangas) in their combos, which limits whoever you’re trying to switch to, and their DHCs to/from each other are terrible. I guess you can use Katana-rama as a faster OTG for Firebrand, but it’s really not that great.
This isn’t to say you can’t use them, especially with Ammy in the back ground, but you’re probably better off swapping one of them out (probably Deadpool).
Firebrand: Instant Overhead, really good high hitting normals, dive kick with a lot of hitstun
Deadpool: Low Assist, puts opponent into a special state
Quick as the Wind or whatever it’s called ignores HSD decay. But uhh it’s Firebrand we’re talking here, that dude won’t get much off combo extension.
But there has to be something that they could mutually benefit from. Don’t give up!
I use firebrand/ Felicia for high/low unblockables, or just another mixup, fake swoop call low assist use a.S ( a.L could word also) people block low they get hit. Finish them off. Or in advance guard situations demon missile M and call low assist if the don’t block low in the other direction it’s a wrap. trigger happy could work for unblockables but they would have to air recover neutral or back… Which is pretty certain at least a couple times. Quick work might be the better assist.
