I’ve been using Ryu (Tatsu)/FB (Spitfire)/Sent (duh) since day 1 of Ultimate and I think it’s a fantastic team actually. I’ll be posting a vid in the near future (recently got a capture card) of everything they can do together. Earlier in this page I posted some of the things Ryu’s tatsu can do for FB, at least, for now.
hmm why do i feel firebrand/Sentinel/akuma is end game material… sooo dirty…
I think Firebrand/Wolvie/Sent is a strong combination as well. Simply because the team flows very well. Wolvie/drones can cover the match-ups where Firebrand has trouble and everyone knows Wolverine can start applying relentless pressure as soon as the match starts. It’s certainly not an “end game” team but its an extremely solid one. Especially since XF2 Wolverine can easily sweep.
Finally, the DHC’s flow into each other without a hitch so thats an added bonus.
Haha. I realized that… Not very long after I started playing with them… I like firebrand/sentinel/Felicia much better than with akuma, because of the low assist and the speed and distance it goes… Unblockables… I think so… Lol. Plus Felicia wrecks shop lvl 3 xfactor.
I would totally use Felicia if I didn’t like Wolvie. But Wolvie is an OG badass and his default color scheme is what my team is based on XD. Blue/Yellow Firebrand, Blue/Yellow Sentinel. Also I kinda get annoyed with Felicia’s voice after awhile…
Any Firebrands made it out of pools?
I don’t think so. It didn’t help that Toki and Zak Bennett ended up in the same pool, so the chances of both of them making it out was pretty slim to begin with.
So I have been looking into running Firebrand on the lead of my team. The team I am looking at so far is Firebrand (Swoop)/Frank (Cart)/Skrull (Tenderizer). With this setup (and only one day of learning Firebrand) I have found many 50/50s, unblockable setups, level up combos for Frank (lvl 3 meter less), throw resets with FFC and Skrull’s command grabs, and even some silliness from DHCing out of Inferno. (Like DHC from Skrull to Firebrand LB into hard tag on Frank and level up). So even when the team order gets out of whack it can even find some cool stuff.
Any ideas or suggestions?
This is actually my main fallback team. I play these three more than anything else for all the reasons you’ve said. I’m trying to integrate some other friends for FB such as Dormammu, Ammy, and Sentinel, but I feel like eventually I come back to these three. What I like best is that they can work in pretty much any order (though having FB as anchor is easily the worst choice), as they all have pretty good DHC synergy. It’s also nice that both FB and Skrull are pretty great at getting Frank leveled up.
Nice to know I am not completely insane. The best things I have found for Firebrand to level up Frank is Bon Voyage into hard tag followed by a Frank combo (into possible FFC resets), using luminous body to get double pictures, and doing the Bon Voyage glitch to get some free points. Do you know of anything else?
Firebrand/Dante(Jam)/???
Can anyone suggest some good potential thirds (or second, I can play Dante at anchor) for this team that isn’t Dorm? Thanks
As much as he’s “meh” I love Robocop anchor. Infil proved that Sent still got something during evo.

Really any strong horizontal assist should be a good third for that team.
Akuma Tatsu, Mags Disruptor, Doom Beam, Sent Drones, Hawkeye or Task arrows, even Frank Cart. They’re all solid choices.
You could also go with the great choice of Unibeam, but then you have the unfortunate problem of having Iron Man on the team.
Thanks men. I was honestly just wondering if having Jam Session meant that I needed a fast horizontal projectile. I’ll likely go with Tatsu but I’m curious, how well is FB at covering Drones?
Right now im messing around online with Firebrand-a/Frank-a/Spencer-a. It’s kind of gimmicky, but having Frank as my second character allows for a kind of brain mixup with Firebrand. At the end of any Firebrand combo I can either TAC into Frank with any direction and get at least level 4 when the combo ends or punish the TAC counter with Firebrands j.C reset. That’s essentially 4 options and the other player has to guess which one. If I get frank to level 4 I have a pretty handy assist in Firebrand a. It lets me do the anti-air super after a reset, call the assist and snapshot to convert into a full combo without xfactor or anything.
Frank’s a assist also allows for some decent left/right and high/low mixups on block. If the assist hits, it’s a pretty easy conversion for a combo with bon voyage. Frank’s assist, when timed right, can let Firebrand hit the unblockable. It’s kind of difficult to do though, I can’t hit it every time.
And obviously Spencer as anchor has some pretty good comeback potential.

That FB/Frank stuff sounds legit - the only “gimmicky” part would be Spencer on anchor. If you’d pick Dante (who is amazing with both FB and Frank) or any other solid anchor with a good assist, I think you’d actually have a very good team.
I agree that Spencer is the weakest link on that team. Not because he’s awful but because I feel he doesn’t really contribute anything to FB or Frank.
Dante is almost definitely the strongest choice for both of them. Strider actually has some potential, too.

Yeah I just started playing Firebrand about 3 days ago. I thought it was pretty cool stuff but I suppose I should have known I wasn’t the first one.
Letting go of Spencer is gonna be tough. I still feel like he’s my strongest character in terms of how comfortable I am in playing him. But i need somebody besides Dante, I can’t stand that character. Any other suggestions? My practical use for Spencer in this team is to let frank double dip his snapshots. Other than that its pretty much just another character.

Which assists would work best for this team? And should I replace Dante? He’s my most reliable anchor, though.
