I like the Gief match-up, not because it’s a favourable match at all but because it forces Guy into playing without his pressure game, and mainly rely on good poking/anti-airing. The only button I can’t seem to find an indefinite counter for is Gief’s st.mp because it’s so damn godlike and even whiff punishing it is insanely difficult for me, everything else can be stuffed primarily with st.mk/st.mp pokes. It’s a long patient match and Gief capitalizes on any mistakes made and can put you into a stun scenario almost instantly, but whilst in neutral I don’t think things are particularly that bad…or maybe I’m just playing too many average Giefs.
Kiyo is only playing like that because of the simple threat, Vism has, it’s always been a huge factor for players and literally one of the best comeback factors due to many characters holding infinite combos. When the threat is gone then you can actually go in and not worry to strongly. To this day… i still love fighting sagats in A3
Yeah, but I find Zangief’s damage in comparison to Guy (therefore his comeback potential) is a similar threat to V-ism, maybe not to the same extent, but similar. Sometimes it seems the way to win the game is to not play into their game at all.
