Guy Ultra SF4 Changes

Just inch forward for chain to work on her Shigon, +8 after HK and the better walkspeed, its pretty easy to get used to. I’ve actually done this in AE a lot during punishes cause I know how wonky some of the hurtboxes got pushbacked during the HK.

Anyone feel the elbow comes out slower after HP flip?

I’m liking the Ultra 1 buff for the 2nd hit. Guile is punishable with Ultra1 after flashkick FADC backdash - but the flashkick has to be blocked close. Not sure if this worked in AE mid-screen. Despite the nerf for DP FADC, it seems you have to guess whether your opponent backdashes or fw dashes…anyone come up with more guaranteed punishes?

Super doesn’t connect properly on Poison…dunno about the other new characters.

As I said Poison’s hitbox is stupid small… I just actually saw her do a safejump against Ryu… the DP doesn’t even hit her… but where did you do Super, mid screen or corner, and was it off Bushin Chain or Hozanto?

Didn’t feel any difference in HP Bushin Flip Elbow, and EX Hozanto catches all DP FADC backdashes as it did previously. so if you have U2 or W Ultra. If you block a DP you can buffer into U2 and either hit… 2 buttons or 3 depending on if they forward dash or not… If you still use U1, you can buffer qcb and if they forward dash, grab, if they back hozanto. Obviously this requires meter, but its better than nothing.

I think u can try any version of super…she floats really awkwardly even from shoulder cancel.

I thought about those punishes for DP FADC…but I couldn’t react fast enough to the backdash. Like if I buffered ex hozanto and ultra 2 simultaneously - and I see the backdash, by the time I see it and release hozanto, it gets blocked. I haven’t practised doing this enough but for now it seems really difficult to see the backdash in time and react. Maybe I’m just getting old.

Edit: my initial idea was to do cr.lk into ex hozanto…and mash till it comes out, on hit or whiff. But by the time cr.lk recovers, the hozantos too slow to catch the backdash. It would have been a great OS to punish both back and forward dashes after FADC.

Yeah,some wierd inconsistencies against the new characters, the ones you mentioned, it’s pretty goddamn annoying.
Everything is fine after a focus or jump in but doing it from the ground it becomes really wierd.
Now i have to alter some things specifically in my gameplay just for these characters :confused:

Well in most cases I have had combos work completely fine, its just in some weird things, where you have to do somethings like the HK Bushin Chain after level 2 focus on Poison, I’ve always inched forward before the lp in AE2012 so doing that makes the combo work.

Well for one… you forgot bushin flips but the recovery it states on those are wrong, they are equal to Bushin Flip Elbow if I believe, MK Tatsu carries low invincibility and LK tatsu carries mid and throw invincibility

To carry on about Poison, here’s where you can’t combo her into Super or Ultra.

Basically anything in the corner into Super don’t bother unless its off a normal like TC, Bushin chain she will fall out, Hozanto she will fall out.

For Ultra if you do Bushin Chain FADC delay the Ultra otherwise only One hit will connect.

In short… never combo into Super from Bushin chain… only do it off Hozanto, midscreen or hit confirm from a normal.

Also Akuma and Elena both can avoid Run Overhead for a focus break due to their step back, so be aware of this.

Elena stuff… don’t even bother using runoverhead or elbow drop a lot because… her crouching hitbox… is basically low profile.

It can hit and such but I’ve experienced it whiff without elena even doing anything.

I caught Poison with an antiair run overhead and did ultra 1 juggle. It caught her with 3 hits, each pushed her higher and higher, 4th hit whiffed. Never seen that before with any character.

I thought Capcom ‘fixed’ the hurtbox issues with the new characters? So far, all reports make them sound broken - particularly Elena (I am still to face an Elena opponent).

Dudley is absolutely ridiculous now. His damage and stun output, juggle ability into hard knockdown, range on ultra 1…he literally feels broken now. MUCH harder matchup now. Also Rufus’ EX messiah buffs are a real pain in the ass. He can antiair bushin flip into ultra 1 without meter.

But if he doesn’t delay wakeup and you do a runslide safejump OS with Cr.MK and Messiah still goes right over guy :), I haven’t had much trouble with dud… but i haven’t met Smug yet…

Did they stealth nerf c.LK or is the frame data above wrong? Cause c.LK used to be +2 on block.

I couldn’t be happier though… Honda’s going to be much more manageable now. s.MP now punishes blocked Ex Headbutts. s.HK is so great, its one of the few normals in the game that can consistently beat Honda’s vertical jump HP (hold back).

No they didn’t, alot of the frame data in the app is incorrect across the board… like Fei has +25 after some normals lol.

Dudley’s i dont have problems with, i fought smug and came out banged up with the cr. lp into machine blow rep, other than that i think its still a Hard 5-5. But his st.Hk is a difference maker

To tag on Blooddrunk, alot of these new characters do have some funny hurtboxes(mainly Poison) I figured out i had to do the walk forward bushin chain after lv.2 focus before i saw the post so thanks for the heads up. Other than that i think the el furete match up has gotten some interesting changes, or maybe that’s just me not knowing the character

I played Isam Shamballa (new tag is Unstoppable DJJ) who is by far the best Dudley in Europe, at least as good as Smug. He’s got a red focus combo that takes about 60% of Guy’s life. Shit is just ridiculous. I’m pretty sure he juggled me with 3 EX cross punches into ultra 2 as well. Short swing blow feels stronger, and his jump in elbow can’t be antiaired with cr. MP anymore and the shallow jump arc makes it awkward to space and time far st. HK correctly. I was having a nightmare playing him lol. But the endless juggles into dizzy is the biggest problem. Some rounds literally felt like I was playing Marvel.

El Fuerte is always a 5-5 matchup. He just does stuff annnd…it either works and he wins or it doesn’t and he loses. The way most decent Elf players use him renders traditional matchup strategy useless. He’s too crazy and unpredictable unless you have GODLIKE reactions. Just try to never get knocked down…like that’s gonna happen lol

Nebz did you try st.lk lol and his jump elbow… if it isn’t the lk one, you can cr.mk right under that little nuisance
