Far st.HK though right? Does Guy have an aa for things from directly above? I know the hit box on cr.mp got short to deliberately stop it being as predominantly useful, but I’ve not heard about any cl.st normals or cr. normals that got buffs as aa’s for these things.
I wouldn’t have minded a buff for KIO in this regard. I think it would be really fitting for Guy’s directly above aa to be a bj.TK.KIO.
You would use HP Air Izuna. Close HK has some success as well but far. HK may be suitable as well
I think cr MP may actually be a good option against close jumps, though Ive only seen this succeed against Sagat in that one video of Jean Valjean.
Personally speaking, TK izuna is so difficult to react with, you would have to use the back jump motion right?

Neutral jump is good enough in a lot of cases, which is basically just a half circle from down to up input. I’ve been playing a lot of Adons and Guys recently which has done my TK izuna on reaction game a world of good.
Totally agree with you bro. It’s not just TK’ing being the issue, but hitting jb specifically is so tricky.
The natural means to do so is: :qcf:, :ub: + :hp: but making sure you only hit :ub: - I get it maybe 3 in 10 in normal play, 7-ish in training. Instead, I do :ub:, :hcf: + :hp: or :qcf:, :uf:+:hp: I don’t even bother with neutral jump KIO unless I’m trying to air-to-air, in which case it’s simply :u:, :qcf:+:p:

So I preordered this thing. Can I install it tonight to make a video of it. By that I mean at 12am or?.. Like I said I got hospital/doc stuff tommorow so might be a little busy. But honestly im already pretty sure of what is possible and what not as usual so making a video shouldnt take to long. And could even do it tonight possibly im sure.
If the update works in that way should be possible, only thing I’d like to really see beside the new combo abilities, is his changes completely displayed and any DWU setups, RFCs I had a list of some ideal combos a page or two back, with NS being 7 Frames might add some more.
One change a lot of folks have probably wanted to see is his elbow drop, can it be low-profiled still with ease and can it cross-up. Does it still carry +5/6 when hit at the top of the opponents head when standing and how much advantage does it have on block and hit on a standing and crouching Hugo.

Not to put any of you guys down at all, because YouTube can be a good way of discovering new tech, etc. but one of the things that saddens me about the modern FGC is how many YouTube warriors there are out there. And by that, I mean lazy people who can’t be bothered to ever hit the lab and have fun learning their character the old fashioned way.
I know I sure as hell wouldn’t be satisfied watching a video of someone demonstrating Guy’s changes without being able to try them out for myself. I think if more players spent time in the lab rather than waiting for other people to discover stuff that they can copy, more tech would be discovered and there would be more variety of play styles with each character instead of so many cookie cutter clones.
I currently don’t have a console and unable to assist like I usually do hence giving ideas of things to test and see. I also have a tournament in 4 days so… If I don’t acquire a 360 I’ll be using YouTube and this forum. Most folks used to keep info to themselves back in the day.
Target combo is godlike now! c.lk (2x) - target used to whiff on crouching Cody, now c.lk (3x) - target actually hits! Yes, three reps.
If anyone has some spare time, testing for a re-stand after Bushin Chain Throw or ground Izuna grab wouldn’t go a miss, seeing as rumours are flying around that re-stand glitches are staying, lol.
I don’t think Guy had a restand combo, plus his Izunas leave him too far for us to possibly even do one,
Only character to have them was Elf and now Hugo… except hugo benefits… much more…
I’ve not heard of a Guy one either but lets not take the idea off the table. Although Elf doesn’t benefit as much as Hugo, he does still benefit from it and his Tortilla Spin can be used in his tricky mix ups, so even if he only has a modest re-stand combo, the glitch helps without taking anything away.
I’d like Guy to get help without taking something away. trading aa’s, Run-Overhead that trades linking possibilities for 2-hitting Focuses, elbow drop that hits deeper but trades frame advantage by hitting earlier.
We’ll see if anything comes up but doubtful, he would have had it and someone would have probably stumbled upon in Super or AE,
