Guy Ultra SF4 Changes

Ultra SF4 producer Koichi Kageyama and assistant producer Tomoaki Ayano just now confirmed on a Japanese stream (“Aaru’s Room” EG Momochi and Dashio also showcased all of the characters) that on the current build (same one coming to arcades on the 17th) Guy’s EX hurricane is indeed 2F. They said they wanted to test the waters with this change to Guy.

So that wasn’t a typo? Interesting…

This seems broken. As much as i’d love to abuse this (lol) it needs to be reverted.

It’s not really that broken when you consider that Viper is getting buffed…

Seriously though… Guy is one of the few who can’t FADC his uppercut on block (Even Oni can in ultra) and he’s got a terrible ultra selection (compared to most of the cast). So I dont think i really can feel bad for the shoto who tries to safe-jump me in Ultra lol

Day of Reckoning is upon us all…

I believe this change is to help keep away pressure heavy characters such as charge characters, dive kick characters, vortex characters, etc. ‘I instantly think about scissor kick pressure’. And as someone mentioned, Neck Flip ~ Ex Tatsu should be good.

At least Bushin Throw into EX tatsu tatsu will be significantly easier. I just wonder if this will cause Guy to always autocorrect or not due to the 2 frame change. There’s word spreading that the hurtbox change to Guile has caused his flashkicks to autocorrect much easier.

They showcased Guile’s U1 against an ambiguous crossup in that same stream. The anten (dunno what the English is but where the screen freezes and it zooms on Guile) had Guile facing the direction his opponent jumped from, and the kicks came out in the OPPOSITE DIRECTION (auto corrected to hit the enemy character now on the other side of Guile). Looked very strange.

This is a very welcome change as it makes both of Guys overheads very dangerous on hit.

Found http://www.reddit.com/r/SF4/comments/230v9r/some_usf4_footage_from_nico_nico_stream/ only has short clips from what was a 2hr 30min show (although a large portion was an interview in Japanese) and the quality is awful but it does showcase some interesting stuff like Hugo’s armoured normal (usable as hard knockdown antiair it seems) and his powerful stand far medium punch, as well as the Guile U1 autocorrect.

Thanks for sharing man! There are 2 Guy matches in the bigger archieve and the player seems to be a good player. Nice to see run - overhead always hitting both hits on crouching characters (although Poison does seem a tall char so idk) and the target combo was def improved. It won’t always hit, missed once from a far range, but seems better. If it hits every character like it hits Dudley/Abel in AE2012 i think it’s perfect.

The player tried to do overhead - ex tatsu but didn’t connect. Either the buff isn’t real, he mistimed or overhead is only +2 on standing character and neutral on crouchers (i think this is the case).

I personally hate that it hits twice on crouching because that throws away the chances of linking into cr’lk. That’s actually a nerf in its own right outside of having meter.

Personally i hope people don’t start spamming Guy cause of the 2frame senpukaku. Honestly it looked like he dropped the link after run overhead into tatsu. The target combo looks better but i guess until i get my own chance to test out the changes for my self my opinion is going to be severely lacking.

I don’t main Guy so my problems are less in depth. Didn’t like when someone focused and run overhead didn’t hit properly so i though it was a buff. But you have a point.

You can if the 2nd hit, hits crouching on the later frames and you’re in range, on Counterhit of course if its hit once. If it’s still possible it may very well be character specific but still it’s annoying,

Using Chun Li’s Super I tested some things Guy should be able to punish on block if the space is correct. Akuma’s far stHk, Dudley’s Forward Hp, Ryu’s Overhead, first hit of Abel’s Change of Direction, Rose’s Fierce Soul Spiral, E. Ryu’s Forward Mk, Adon’s Low and Ex Jaguar Kicks and I’m sure theres plenty more. And possibly Viper’s Burn Kicks…
