Initial impressions: Don’t jump. Ever.

Even if Guy/Vega were S+++ tier I would have a hard time justifying the act of buying this game.

Yes there are alot of uses for Bushin Throw now I plan on making a video showcasing all of the mix ups in the corner trust me there are alot you can even make DPs whiff and punish teleports and do fake cross ups well the video will explain the rest :).

Looks like hes the exact same as the Hacked version , which is quite sad. His damage output seems below average.

Yeah the most I can get meterless is 417 :c (in the corner)

is it just me or is there something wrong with guys launcher ? been missing a lot of easy combos because the enemy is to low when my second comes in. seems to randomly leave them at a different height, or the timing when you can attack after feels different sometimes.

for example: combo into a launch with asuka coming in, i usually do fw.lk, fw.lp into combo. works every time with all the other launchers but with guy she misses because they are to low some times.

right now its like 2/3 times it will hit but its annoying to have it miss for no reason.

on another note, i still dont get elbow drop not having an aa hit box. granted it is really improved (better block stun, combos without counter hit easy, crossover) but no hit box is a huge trade for that.

Is anyone interested in seeing Kiryu’s Guy?

I have 2 matches saved up with him playing Guy and Xiaoyu.

I think there might be some potential with LK tatsu midscreen , its possible to do LKtatsu->Extatsu … perhaps some spacing to land a hit after it.

I’ve been able to follow it with Super and H Tatsu, but only the first hit of the latter connects. Perhaps there isnt enough of a juggle limit? :frowning:

I think I did okay, only worried about losing the muscle memory for my sf4 guy play. So far I’ve mostly just played with people testing out their own new characters but I’m pretty pleased with Guy’s transition overall – aside from the no air to air hitbox on the elbow. I’m sure I’m getting away with a bit more than I should be, but I’m putting that to other player’s inexperience against Guy. Might post some others later.

@Suleman cool video your Guy is looking nice, one thing I would do though is after the TC>Hozanto if they block it don’t always try to go for a backdash or an attack, you got hit quite a lot for that just block w.e they do then punish

Yeah, I’m a bit too used to frame traps of ssf4 shoulder. I’m just training people to not stick stuff out afterwards by following it with a forward hurricane. Probably a bit more risk than I need though – agreed.

Guy still does a lot of damage solo but I think all combos should end with his lk tatsu instead of lp shoulder. That way u can switch cancel off of it. kiryus play is still very much sf4ish. We all have to realize its a diff game n need to develope new strategies. I think to maintain pressure in block strings u should always do bushin flip xx elbow now that it’s plus on block n they can’t mash dp or anything else. Oh n btw u can cross up with it. :slight_smile:

Yeah I think we have to get used to doing TC>tatsu rather than Hozanto mid screen, in the corner though I think Hozanto is the best choice since its the best for comboing. Also is it better to use lk tatsu after the TC? Ive been using mk tatsu but I’m not sure

I’ve never done tc hozanto midscreen unless I had.meter for super I always did runslide

lk tatsu leaves the opponent close, mk puts the opponent almost full screen. if you are trying to get them to the corner use mk, if they are already in the corner use hozanto. for tags use lk.

I know this is kinda old even going back to ssf4 but anybody else notice that guy on has one viable cr normal to cancel (cr. mp). Wtf is crapcom thinking. Errbody else in the game has cr. hp cancel.

Uh St.MP and Cr.MP, always been his staple cancels. The last time he had a cr.HP was Alpha 2, which was only used… on certain characters because in that game only his heavies would combo into against and St.HP whiffed on most of the cast. Alpha 3 his staples with St.MP and Cr.MP and that’s basically all you needed for long range cancels. Even though its different from here and you dont have the old school threat that his st.mp and cr.mp posed they are still good normals plus you can chain into slide which will lead to launcher if he doesnt knockdown. Which gives you damage opportunity into a tag cancel or raw tag to bring Guy back in. Sure it’s nowhere near the classic (St/cr.MP XX Lvl3, combo, possible stun if they are in the corner, another combo GG.) but having overall good normals that are threatening (st.mk > cr hk > launcher) Seems to make up for only have a few normals that will cancel.
