Looks like I’m late to the party lol but on a serious note I have also had quite some time with Guy since my friend has the hacked version and so far I am loving him. I like the fact that you can finally combo cr.MP into LP Hozanto now and his elbow can now cross up which can add to his mix up game. His run to overhead is safe as well and I find it pretty useful because you can combo into it plus his walk speed is good heck his speed in general is pretty good and deadly. His run stop rush down in this game is lovely that’s one thing I’m going to be using alot the pressure is just too much and TC can catch alot of people mashing buttons. I’m actually happy that there is some use for HK Tatsu now. My favorite combo after EX Hozanto since it wall bounce is cr.MP, TC into HK Tatsu or into run slide to get the knockdown. Or I would do J.HK, cr.MP into EX Tatsu does decent amount of damage. Too bad his super is a straight copy paste from AE but god it is fast and Guy’s damage output is decent nothing amazing but nothing bad as well. He pretty much has the same frame traps from AE so I’m happy about that and Ninja sickle is somewhat useless but still good. Tomorrow I will make a more in depth post about Guy and my thoughts since I have been playing him for like 2 weeks or so but for right now this is all I got. I’m glad other people has also had to chance to play Guy :slight_smile:

Has anyone tested all the counterhit possibilities of Guy’s moves. Do any of his counterhits put someone in a groundbounce/float/stagger/other special state in this game?

At the moment no, unless I completely overlooked something while playing. I would say that he really doesn’t need one (as in increasing a particular utility), his frame traps (S.RH all day after elbow drops and cross ups… seeing how it hits crouching) increase his rate of landing a counter, which allows his links to turn out good damage and potential set ups.

On a side not people were asking if his Izuna drop can combo. And to that I say YES!!! though chances are you’ll never do it. This is the one way (possibly more) that I found. If you tag launch the opponent while hitting the tag cancel command you can tiger knee (qcf, uf) his izuna drop that will catch the opponent. Not the best use of meter nor damage (though I guess can have potential set ups). Im sure with the right team this is possible without out the use of the launcher. But yes it can combo.

Oh yeah… forgot that walking forward has its benefits for Guy as shown in his trial 20, to get the 3 s.mkout you have to walk forward and hit mk on it would seem the last frame (especially on the 2nd-3rd mk) while holding forward. Holding forward with some of Guys moves allows him to do things he would not be in range to do ex. Bushin Chain in corner twice. More improtantly his S.mk frame trap into S.FP is possible when holding forward after the S.MK (otherwise you’ll get far. S. FP). This is a better alternative than S.Mk>> S.MP during block string because of longer block stun to set up run stop mix etc, but also adds another potential block string as the Cl.FP comes out slower and a little later than S.MP.

For example: Blockstring S.MK>forward>>S.MK>forward>>Cl.FP etc… Of course this is generally the go to damage as well just because of the FP instead of MP or TC (Target combo may be easier to confirm if you catch a frame trap).

Another little tid bit you don’t necessarily HAVE to combo in ex tatsu from a lk. tatsu if you dont want to burn the bar, a less damaging alternative is hitting a RH.tatsu immediately after lk tastu, it will hit once and send your opponent into the corner.

alright, gonna sound a bit nooby but does the izuna grab has ultra high priority, also does it grab limbs?
the nerfed elbow would make sense if its that way.
try to grab someone doing an air tatsu and see if it works.

Nice vid, I never even thought to see what his overhead could link into. Wondering if my tag launcher/cancel tip’d you off about being able to combo from his bushin flip ( and izuna drop) :p.

^^ Haha yes :stuck_out_tongue: , i thought if Izuna could work why not bushin flip . Also being able to combo off Ex tatsu is pretty awesome , jumping in on guy is pretty scary if he has meter.

I do use Gouki often, however, I have committed to playing “other-than-shoto” characters because they are more interesting to use. Thus, I cannot wait to hand some Bushin-beatdowns to the inundation of Ryu/Shoto-players. Let us all expose the Bush In Ryu :badboy: :nunchuck:

Thanks Bro :smiley: I’ve recently gotten a job, (THANKFULLY), so I’ve been busy. I’m playing SFxT mostly right now, to get used to the system for when Guy becomes “Legal.” I need to do half AE and half SFxT. I will definitely add you. I’ve seen Dez online, I just haven’t been on AE.

Who are the best teammates for Guy out of:
Akuma, Ibuki, Bryan, Raven, Juri???

Seems like he can´t reliably combo into his flip grab, let alone combo after it (like in the alpha series). I always loved being able to connect a super after the flip grab, this would´ve been the perfect game to reintroduce it from alpha without breaking him (probably).

Too bad, but it´s only one combo, will play him regardless.
