What he thinks and says are in complete contrast to his actions though. He ranted about hating women but ultimately took the lives of more men then women. To overlook this and to frame this as a attack on women is dishonest and clearly just fuel so idiots like the #yesallwomen tag can exist.

When mass attempted murders like this happen, it’s not uncommon for the perpetrator to just kill anyone that is convenient for them (in regards to the victims that were strangers to him). Again, stop focusing on the genders of the victims (media outlets shouldn’t be doing this either), as it is not important to the bigger picture: what caused or motivated him to murder. Misogyny was a part of this, but not the only factor, obviously.

I expect ugly and old women to support feminism. It’s surprising to me when younger, attractive women do, and more and more of them opt out of it actually. But what always gets me is those white knights. There are so many of them! You can’t say to stop focusing on the gender when this is clearly being played out as a gendered issue. I personally feel its a tragedy that 7 innocent people lost their lives but the fact of the matter is that this is being billed as a attack on women fuelled by misogyny. Again it’s about bringing honesty to the discussion because the bigger picture is already being played out all over social media.

Edit: In case someone doesn’t understand, I’m using a bit of hyperbole to present a topic. Obviously solutions are not simple and need to be discussed in depth. But the point I’m trying to make is that 1 lunatic may get ratings but the real problems rely on the silent everyday issues which tend to be ignored.
You’re looking at it way too simplistically. Instead of looking at it from a “lol guy is crazy the end” angle, why not try to figure out why it came to this? What lead to him believing the world he lived in, a world in which he suffered major entitlement issues, virgin shaming, and societal pressure to “be a man”, deserved retribution in his eyes? The guy was obviously not right in the head, but he wasn’t so detached from reality that he wasn’t aware of what he was doing unlike an actual insane person.
I’m as much of a layman as anyone else but I question anyone who is certain that this kid was a monster of our own (society’s) creation. Since he was receiving mental health treatment, he just seemed like a lost cause. How can we say for certain that if he didn’t focus his rage towards sexuality that it wouldn’t have manifested itself somewhere else? It’s very hard for me to believe that a handjob could have evened this dude out.
His life experience just doesn’t stand out as unique. He can’t be the first spoiled rich kid who couldn’t get laid. Not getting laid even seems like more of a symptom than a cause to me. I get the impression he just couldn’t empathize with people, and of course you’ll never have an actual human friendship or romance in that case.
