Guy Combo thread: Make em say Hya!

(must be in corner) crossover mk, cr.lk, bushin chain (throw), hk tatsu, super

And heres a combo that im sure a few people know of, it does about 500 dmg

(must be in corner) crossover mk, cr.lk, bushin chain (throw), st.hp (for the reset), lp bushin throw

The combo above is actually quite useful if you condition your opponent to block in front of them

the bushin flip throw isn’t part of the combo since it’s off a reset, therefore the opponent can avoid it

yeah i know its not technically considered part of the combo, but most people get caught by it

Yeah but if they dont have a reversal move and you time it right you get them :slight_smile: its great.

Hello everyone, I have a little favor to ask. Could someone explain or link me to the meanings of these notation that is used on this board? I can guess a few but theres some that i don’t know. eg. cl. mk, xx, St.hk, j.RH>cl.RH etc…

cl. = close
mk = medium kick
xx = super cancel
x = special move cancel
St. = standing
hk = hard kick
j = jump
RH = roundhouse, same as hk = hard kick
> = follow up

so if it is, j.RH you just put them together, j.RH = jump roundhouse

alright soo i was just messin around in the lab and was thinking about his corner reset ( crossup j.mk, cr.lk, bushin chain (throw), st.hp, lp bushin flip) and i though, why dont i try something else after the bushin flip. this is what i came up with

(after the reset) cr.lk, bushin chain, ultra 1

now before any of you start flaming me: yes, i know that its not practical against characters with an invincible reversal. that being said, if you string the entire thing together, which would look like this:

crossup j.mk, cr.lk, bushin chain (throw), st.hp, cr.lk, bushin chain, Ultra 1

it does nearly 700 damage, and involves NO METER whatsoever. the reason this works is because of the cr.lk after the reset. it catches a lot of people by suprise (even good players). cr.lp wouldnt work because it hits mid. on the plus side, even if they block the cr.lk, you can just confirm that into a tick grab. easy peasy. hope this is useful to some of you, i sure like it a lot lol

also, on a completely unrelated note, i realized that bushin chain xx super is character specific. i just found out tonight that it doesnt work on dhalsim. the super only lands 1 hit. maybe im just late to realizing that this combo is character specific, if so, woops =p

Alright so im not sure how useful this will be to some of you because its not as easy to do.

Guy can combo off of a meaty run overhead.
a few examples would be.

an untechable knock down, run overhead kick (meaty) cr.lp st.mp run slide.

or off of a reset.

bushinchain throw into corner St.hp xx run hk cr.lp, bushin chain , hurricane

it would work off of anti airs as well if you would use cr.mp but the timing is tough.

Just out of curiosity what is the most damage you guys managed to do in one single combo with Guy? Best I can get is 565… You can use Seth or whatever but an actually doable (but unlikely) combo.

I was trying earlier today because of that 700 club combo challenge and the highest I could get was 644 or something like that on Seth. I’m no combo wizard by any means but I just turned on counter hits and did j.hk, close s.hk, c.mp xx ex hozanto, ex tatsu which stuns and then U2. I’m sure someone with more imagination and better combo skills can do better.

What you’re saying here isn’t 100% correct. It’s true that in the corner if you don’t cancel your bushin chain into super and connect it in the same way as using U1 then yeah, it’s a really tight link to get all the hits on sim. However, if you do bushin chain XX super combo it will connect 100% from anywhere on the screen. Just buffer the motion during the s.hk animation and you can do it anywhere on anyone. A few hits might whiff on random characters like rog and I think honda but that’s hardly a reason to not do it if you have a big opening and it could kill them.

Yeah I was doing the same. I didn’t know that Stun combo. I was doing a simular but longer one for the stun but yours stuns with less moves so it’s better. Wonder if anyone can get that challenge with Guy.

Edit: Damn. Thought I had it but far standing fierice can’t special cancel huh?

Edit2: Found a 652 damage combo. Very simple. Jump RH, d/f RH, ex Hozanto, FADC, EX Houzanto stun. Ul 2. So close…

sorry I’m a Beginner.

cr.mp x mk tatsu would just mean do a cr.mp and immediately buffer the input qcb (quarter circle back) mk, so that you’re pressing mk as the cr.mp hits. then the two attacks will combo. that’s a special cancel. super cancels are done the same way.

another common special cancel is target combo x lp hozanto. this is done by entering mp, hp, qcb lp relatively quickly, so the three hits combo. you could also try target combo xx super, which is mp, hp, qcfx2 + any punch very quickly. try it in training mode.

Is it possible to combo off elbow drop from a bushin flip?

yes it either has to be spaced to hit on the last frames or ch

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0YAXbj2nzw Just some examples of the new links guy can do in AE… nothing mind boggling here I guess as in general most the stuff from my other videos still works… The really only cool thing he can do now is the bushin combo link to another combo… Unfortunately he no longer can do stand hk, link duck hp it seems… You can link after far stand mk now but there appears to be no fun/cool set up for it really… Of course you can combo after his overhead now, but its pretty minuscule and well its already redundant as it is…
