I actually watched a match video yesterday of a Ky player beating a Slayer player. It was literally mind blowing. If Ky’s attacks actually did damage, he would be, dare I say it, a decent character?
Ky has a great chance of being a decent character. I use him in #R and hopefully he can become a well balanced monster in Slash.

Juicing up of shoto-like characters is a big turn off.
From what I’ve seen Ky looks better, but still not totally great imo.
I’m also not a huge Ky fanboy (not saying you guys are).

Although I’m not a fan of Ky either, I guess his newfound strength is somewhat justifiable since he is one of the most important characters in the GG storyline IMO (alongside Sol and Dizzy). 
What do story considerations have to do with gameplay and balance? Good job to the GGXX team for continuing their dedicated efforts to make this series as fun and competetive as possible, no matter who your character may be.
It doesn’t. But I think people like it more when main (or old favorite) characters are strong. Look at 3S with Ken and Chun-Li at top.
Man it’s annoying when people bash Ky so much without reason. Why should he not get an upgrade if he was one of the lower tiered characters in Reload?? By labeling Ky as a shoto (or even shoto-like) character shows how flawed your argument is.
OMG FAIREBALL + DARGON PANCH== SHOOOTO!11! (This isn’t the case with you, orka) Yeah, I see this all of the time, and it’s really dumb. Besides the whole system of GG chaning the way that any “shoto” character would play, he uses vastly different strategies than just his various projectiles and Vapor thrust.
I really don’t see why he’s so plain… Because he isn’t a total freak?? I enjoy his story and his conflictions with being just and righteous, so why is he the least liked character in GG? Wow… he has blonde hair… and an odd outfit… OMG TEH GHEYYYYYY… Which effectively means everyone hates him… Fuck all of the Ky haters…

I’m not a Ky fanboy and would never want to see him beefed up to a point where he is vastly better than other characters, but the boosts he earned are just. Go Ky :rock:
BTW, VT loop is still in. Check the Tokyo Ranking fighters matches from 10/1, you’ll see. He does a combo against a Slayer from a RC (FRC? Can’t remember) into a vapor thrust, repeat.
I don’t have a personal vandetta against Ky. He is my sub behind Dizzy, but Ky is overall a easy character to learn and use. My shoto comment was somewhat related to that. In XX and #R, the price players had to pay for using Ky (for his ease of use) was his weak overall attribute in relation with the rest of the cast.
The reason many people disliked Slayer was because he too, was a relatively easy character to learn to use – yet he was ridiculously overpowered at the same time. I have great respect for Eddie and Millia players because although those characters are at top of tier charts as well, they also have great learning curves. Likewise, I had great respect for Ky players because they were forced to plot various strategies in order to overcome the character’s weakness and win.
But if Ky does turn out to be top tier now, I’m not sure if I can look at him the way I did before. And the high potential for him to become a scrub favorite (he was already popular before) is probably something unwanted for all Ky players.
Difficulty in use or mastery should not be a factor in balance, either. All that means is the people with the time and technical skill for more complicated characters gain a significant edge, which should not be the case. I have known players who lack the manual dexterity to do, say, Akiras Knee, but have amazing mind game, spacing, and movement ability. Are they supposed to be forced to use a character with less power, just because they don’t move their fingers as fast as others, or spend time memorizing more complicated movesets?
Having an innate knowledge of all the abilities of your character and the skill to execute them with speed and precision is enough of an advantage in and of itself. It needs no further justification through additional, inherent power within the game system.
I have no less respect for a great Jacky player than a great Lei Fei player, a great Xianghua player than a great Cervantes player, or a great Slayer player than a great Zappa player, and so on throughout the many fighting game series. Just because a character is basic and straightforward does not infer they should lack effeciency and power.

1- What’s the benefit of A.B.A.'s key changing shape?
2- What’s with all the turtling in the Sol vs. Venom fight?
3- What new moves have some characters gained?
4- What was the name of A.B.A.'s key again

ky is the only resemblance to shoto in ggx. He doesn’t realli play like a shoto, but he is the only decent resemblance to shotos compared to other characters in the gg cast.
About seeing ky in a different light, if he suddenly became top tier, i totally agree with you. I personally thought more highly of a person when they could kick ass with ky. Just like how i think more highly of a chipp player (i.e ME!!! mwahahaha) who beasts everyone.
about what the_dragon said, i think characters who are complex and simple, are both looked upon as pretty much equal. anyway i think orka is talking about the mixture between complexity and tiers. Put it this way, ppl who win with simple and high tier are not thought too highly. THen ppl who win with complex and high tier is just a bit betta. Then it’s simple and low tier, and the ones who gain the most respect, are those who play complex and lowest tier. Thus it’s no surprise to anyone if a slayer wins a tournament or places very highly. But when someone like chipp does it’s like OMFG!!!

All of this talk about Ky’s relations to the story and his abilities in the game makes me wanna ask somebody a question. Will there be a story mode on the console version of Slash?? I doubt it will be.

Speaking of sex, all the bandwidths from the people hosting slash vids are getting rape. I guess the game is more popular than I thought because when #R hit the arcades, it wasen’t hard to find vids nor was there a large demand of people to host the vids they got before the bandwidths died for the site hosting the vid they wanted.
