I highly doubt there will be any balancing.
Would be cool to have a tourney playable Kliff though, I may even have to drop Testament.

I don’t care so much about the EX characters, but being able to play GGX characters in a tourney would be pretty cool.
I’m not sure if I want to get behind this idea. Fautless Defense cancels were really, really silly. :shake:
indeed, but they dont work exactly the same on ac, the sam goes for the GG chars
You’re right. Things would probably have to be tweaked a bit, but I like the idea of having Player A being a master of GGXX Ky while Player B is a master of GGX Ky. Options and all. It’s fun to pull out the GGX characters and go to town.
Wow, that is such an ignorant statement…“just press buttons”
lols
Millia = push buttons? REALLY?
Do people on SRK spend more than 5 minutes with GG?
I don’t thin he means ‘just press buttons’ in the sense that you pick testament and just do stuff with out looking at the screen and win.
he means it in the sense that testament has the equipment for roughly any situation and if you understand how Guilty Gear works, and are able to recognize those situations, and know what to tool to use and why, he becomes pretty easy.
aka the reason why he’s an S tier character
the problem is tht the quote in question is misleading, any new player would think that it means that he is braindead, lol
testament requires work, his tools are good, but if you dont know how to use them you wouldnt be able to do anything, plus, any character can become “easy” if you are able to recognize different situations and know what tool to use and why
Well, new player as in never played fighting games before, yes. But, new player as in, versed in fighting games, but never played GG, should understand that… and considering we’re at SRK it’s not too difficult to assume the latter… kind of… actually, no, you’re right, I can’t assume that anymore.
As for the other part… the simple fact is, when presented with certain situations with other characters, the answer can become relatively complicated, especially if you don’t want to go for anything too risky… whereas with Testament you have a lot of low risk options that give you really high reward… ie front beast.
i can give you that front exe beast helped to improve a lot of the pressure game of testament, but is not like he is the only one with some bullshit to use
i still love to play with ac testament, but i cant deny that i also miss slash testament as well
edit
the srk wiki needs to be updated, the tier list there its very old
slayer being s tier and all of that…
I wasn’t even talking pressure. i’m talking pressure escape.
wait out anything with a like a gap to fit the beast in (it’s out and staying out after 1 frame @_@), and throw it out. worst case scenario trade works out even… more often than not, trade leads to BL loop… obviously this isn’t an end all be all, “you’re near me I do it I win” move, but a lot of characters really have to work to play around it.
yeah i forgot that, but i usually see that as a problem for players that dont take full advantage to their air movement options
Guys I want to get into Guilty Gear when it comes out. I wanna main Baiken because she looks a ton like a cartoon a used to watch when I was little (Rurouni Kenshin/Samurai X). I also want to main a very “high execution character”, heard there are a lot of those in this game. Who are some of these characters, and is Baiken hard to use?
well baiken was desingned after kenshin after all
every character requires work to be used efectively having stuff that goes from tame to high execution, but by your request i can say that you would love trying to play with Ino, she has a lot of good stuff that requires good execution
slayer also comes to mind, he has good damage for stuff that requires good execution
another thing is that many stuff is situational, so you need to learn to recognize when to use them
Right on all accounts, and X2 outputs to 720p, same as modern consoles. And yes, AC+ will run the same as any “modern” fighter does - but therein is the problem.
The modern fighter (or any other console game) runs with a minimum 4 frames of input delay straight out of the box, compared to only 1 frame of delay on PS2. Add in an LCD setup as opposed to a CRT and that PS2 1 frame goes up to 5-6 frames for PS3/360. That’s what the big deal is, not the conversion / lack of upscaling / etc.
This isn’t a super huge game changer, but it is enough to alter the game in two major ways:
Basically you want to keep yourself out of situations where you have to guess against command overheads and raw dusts, since you won’t be able to just reaction block your way out anymore.
Dealing with IAD or jump into delayed AD approaches also become much more predictive since you can’t just reaction 6P (or other normal AA) every time.
And then there’s other loltastic lag tactics that become much more effective, like Potemkin Hammer Break -> PB, Slayer dash -> throws, Baiken terminator run -> throw, and Millia roll -> throw (lolI guess the lag isn’t all bad for her).
How can I be certain of all of this, you might ask? 5 years of on and off play of #R online… in Delay 4.
Granted my college professors would skin me alive for citing wikipedia, but. . . according to this all iterations of X2 are only outputting at 480p, hence my complaint. As for the 4-6 frames, I can’t comment on that one. You know I try to only argue or discuss a point when I consider myself knowledgeable on it. =P If you could provide some sort of evidence though for “4 frames on all modern fighters”, i’d like that. Sounds like a good read.
What exactly do you mean by high execution? Very precise timings?
X2 as in Taito Type X2, not GGXX X2.
For a reference, you can look at every legit input lag test for PS3/360, none of which have results that fall below 67 ms (4F). There is also this article where a Neversoft dev mentions some details of how they attempted to minimize input delay on their Guitar Hero games (and the tests show they never got below 4F either). Delay on a bunch of popular games are covered in that article too.
This quote sheds some light on the issue:
Is there proof that GG only has 1 frame of input delay? That seems a bit odd when everything else is 3.
Edit: Oh you mean 1 frame + to the normal arcade timing.
“Everything else” (modern fighters) is 4+, no fighting game runs at Delay 3 as far as I know. The rerelease will either be 3 or 4 frames above the normal arcade timing, depending on how the port is handled.
It’s been known by GG players for quite a long time that the game has 1 frame of delay, though I don’t have a handy reference. You can see this for yourself just by loading up PS2 GG (any version) and inputting something simple like a 5K. The audio of your button press will coincide immediately with the animation on screen with no pause, as compared to doing the same in SF4/BB/MvC3/(insert 360/PS3 fighter here) where you will notice a slight but significant (4-5 frame) pause between the click of your button and the animation of the move being thrown.
My god… Arc System Works has confirmed that this is MUCH MORE than a simple Accent Core PLUS port, is now a REAL UPDATE called Accent Core PLUS R, they even had put NEW MOVES to the characters… what?
Location Test coming soon!
