Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- one of life's gilty pleasures

Not if you’re on American PSN, in which case it’s neglecting and ignoring you and only showing up when it’s drunk to beat you and not tell you why or when it’ll show up to actually nurture you.

I was at the AKB loc test for a bit Sunday and Monday. Just happened to coincide with my vacation here. I’ve only ever played GG casually (#R and AC), so regrettably I can’t be very informative re technical gameplay.

As a general impression, I loved it. Graphics and style are amazing, and it still feels like GG. As someone who has been playing Marvel for 3 years, this is the game I’m most looking forward to, and it makes me want to get +R and get back into the groove (even if we’re looking to get an evolution of #R.) I am optimistic that this game is going to become very popular, both with players and stream monsters. I think it can transcend the anime label, and reach a wider audience than ever. MvC3 has whet the appetite of the casual FG audience for something crazier and more fast-paced than SF, and if even a small portion of that translates to sales, I think this GG is going to have a long competitive cycle.

Koogy is a huge GG fan, and I’m sure he’ll use Brokentier’s sway to get Xrd a lot of stream time. That kind of exposure goes a long way to influencing the casual market.

Here’s hoping.

From ElvenShadow on DL.

Dunno you but nerfed tools scream SF4 to me  :shake:

Except SFIV for the most part never really built of any previous SF system aside from the most basic bits.

So people are using Riot Stamp but not Crash? Not one aerial combo using Crash. Just dustloop and a basic pre-Slash aerial combo. I just want to know if Crash ground bounces.

That actually really worried me. What the hell is up with FG devs, making a new game, and moving backwards with character design.

just makes sense for first installment of a new series… dumb it down, make it more accessible, then start adding complex tools back in as players learn the game systems better. also if you start with more basic toolsets it would make future balancing easier since you have less overall to consider. as the intricacies of your new game system become apparent you can start feeding in more advanced stuff with updates. if you go hog wild on your first go around, there is no guarantee you will end up with anything except a stupid mess (see: marvel)

So make a worse game, gotcha.

Not saying Xrd is going to be as bad as Marvel or SFIV but I’m not as hype as I first was for it. ASW still got my support.

IMO, a new numbered installment is a chance for the devs to take a look at the previous games and figure out what worked, what didn’t, what can stay and what should be streamlined.

It’s a perfect time to take a look at what players are doing and how to make it so that what players need to do isn’t as obtuse. Or looking at certain behaviors that may not be desirable and then overhauling the system to address the issue (instead of just a bad-aid fix as is usually the case with an update).

I think it’s more to have with the fact that the game isn’t out yet so there’s no “high level” yet. So measuring depth at this point is futile.

While they did take away specials, frcs and forcebreaks, the normals are left intact, and if supers and RCs are made more useful it could help making up for those things.

People giving up on the game, when it is still in these early stages is ridiculous. It is GGXXX, not GG Accent Core Plus 2. So it should feel fresh, new but still feel like guilty gear. Not like Accent Core+ with a few added moves in a new graphics engine.

THis looks like a huge nod to all the people who played reload back in the day. It’s like brand new #R in HD with techblocking added in. Fucking no way. Even if they gave eddie all his #R stuff I wouldn’t be mad. Give it to him, I have techblock now.

No one is giving up on the game idiot, an dso far I’m the only one being pessimistic. Shut the fuck up.

I hope the GGX announcer’s voice is back. “Duel 1, Let’s Rock” /robot

Yeah #R annoucer was the best

I wouldn’t say that they fully took away FRCs. It’s more like they were rethought as YRCs and PRCs seem to be an attempt to maintain some of the functionality of FRCs while addressing what Ishiwatari apparently didn’t like about them.

Lol, u mad bro?

I think that we got the current YRC only because the players asked for it, by making them cost 50% of meter they effectively removed a lot of options that the characters had
