Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- one of life's gilty pleasures

How long is the loc-test going on for? I want ASW to release trailer #3 already.

Can’t wait for this game to drop.

Kinda seems like ElvenShadow is confirming people’s fears, but saying it in the nicest way possible so people won’t get too upset.

Or maybe judging a game at such an early stage is simply paranoia, considering they JUST added some brand new stuff and will maybe add some more later. No one can tell how this would turn out in the end, but if Reload is the base, then you can’t be shitting on it when Reload was a great game as well.

I have been wondering, now that they added slow down to the RC and its variations, would this mean that the next entries of their games like the next BB that is not part of the CP series would sport the slow downs to make them more accesible?

Whats this gate i was seeing ky use it looks like shine but it was done grounded and when he shot a projectile through it it went all mu 12 it sped up and turned into a big sword n shit. looks cool i guess dont remember it from any of the old games But i also mainly played chipp till Slash. Not a fan of his new dust either looks like its slower and less range.

No one’s shitting on Reload, but like any game dev, I’m personally not one to give ArcSys the benefit of the doubt simply because it’s ArcSys. Like you said, no one knows how things will turn out in the end, and that goes both ways. Worrying relentlessly over it doesn’t really do anything for you though, you’re right on that.

Is the new tool that he has on GGXrd, with his dust attacks and a new special he places those circles on the screen, if you throw a stun edge though them they become those electric swords that you saw.
The range of his old dust attack was compensated with this special atribute that the new dust attack has.

BTW, Ky is the only character that i use that has been revealed so far that i actually like how it has transitioned from XX to Xrd with all the new tools, the other ones look very meh so far, Chipp looks just ugh…

Where did you see him use undertow? Is it that double-overhand slashing move I saw once?

Gotta agree. Ky got something new that improves his space control and zoning. Sol on the other had got a bunch of visually impressive things with Dragon Install(which will be thrown to the wayside) and we’ve yet to see what his new move does in combos because no one tries it out. But even compared to AC Sol, Xrd Sol is looking pretty tame. I’ll admit AC+R Sol has some ā€œout of ideasā€ add ons like Clean Hit Bandit Bringer and Wall stick Tyrant Rave but even then, he’s pretty damn interesting. Aside from Ky, everyone is pretty underwhelming. But I’ll wait and see.

AT WORST, I’m expecting a pretty solid game.

Yes. I assume its Undertow because he didn’t get any new stand alone moves, and Elvenshadow said it has a hit of super armor. Happens around 3 minutes in the Sol vs Slayer 3 video.

I trust them because I can see the difference between their treatment to their recent titles (BB and P4U) and to their hardcore sacred cow GG. When it comes to shoddy mechanics they had no problem adding a lot of annoying crap to BB and P4U to increase casual engagement. They could have easily sacrificed Xrd to the casual gods in the exact same manner but they haven’t. They kept the 5 button layout, they kept the 0 frame throws, no sign of a comeback mechanic etc.

So far they have only changed the things that even you and I would find ā€œhardā€. Even reverting the movelists back to reload makes sense if they intend the characters to go into different directions that fit the new system. Move lists that take into account the lack of FRCs, and the other features that are going to be there instead. Did you notice that most characters have a new special or super now?

And hey they even want Slashback in the game! But it will have to go through some changes to not be such a niche tool while also not letting it ruin other aspects like zoning. That’s why the current formula of 25% cost makes sense.

At worse I think the game is going to be extremely solid albeit nit as exciting due to characters missing tools I’ve grown to really like using, this can of course change and probably will. Gonna miss Force Breaks abd FRCs though.

Chances are you’ll find something else to love.

Basically, everyone should reserve their judgements until they play or see the final build of the game.

I am expecting a game with solid mechanics(unlike tataki i think that ASW has made a great job with BB and P4A) but with laughable balance due the characters being gimped versions (minus Ky so far).

@tataki
We are already seeing the compromises that they are making in order to make it more beginner friendly (Something that they said will not do since BB was for that ) the removal of the guard bar, that the YRC and PRC are essentially FRC for noobs since they don’t have the strict input window, hell the fact that they added the slow downs to make it easier for everyone to do anything (which i am not against but i wouldn’t deny that is a compromise of pace) and lest not forget that the danger time is still in the game, for all we know they can add it as a comeback mechanic :looney:

The only thing that really worries me is that with the removal of many tools and stuff post #R, Xrd will end as a very tame game that i will grow up tired quickly, i know that jumping at conclusions with local tests is dumb, but at the same time they serve to see what is the direction that the developer has in mind. Just see how they are nerfing the effectiveness of the characters tools because the simplified motion inputs. Perhaps i will be less annoyed if we had more time with +R, but by the looks of it, by the time we are getting it we will barely few months apart from Xrd :shake:

So far Xrd makes me happy because is a new GG but at the same time it annoys me a little because some of the changes i feel are not for the better. I only hope that they will start adding new stuff to the characters like they did with Ky because my only remaining main besides him so far is Chipp, and he looks like everything that i hated of #Reload so far

Personally I’d rather see a game with ā€˜tame’ tools that encourage neutral game rather than say Marvel 3 where some characters have dumb shit that leads into 100% touch of death combos

I strongly believe that the neutral game is way overrated.
A good game has a good balance of pace, also believe it or not even on UMVC3 there is a good emphasis on neutral game, is just that it has a terrible pace between the different phases of the game.
Also GGAC and GGAC+R have strong tools and great pace so is not mutually exclusive.

So you want GGAC+R and most other GGs then

Man since when the fuck is #R a tame game? That game is still an intense as hell game. You guys keep soundin like GG didn’t become an intense game until recently or some shit.
