I think it’s understandable to be worried. It’s been a while since AC, so the number of people nervous over how the final product will turn out is expected.
Thing is, for me personally, if the characters are anything close to how they were in +R even with these new things my interest in them is going to be low. Only character I’m really feeling so far is Ky because the seals are really new and interesting. Feels to much like characters are moving backwards instead of progressing.
people are worried but not because of that. #r and slash werent available in north america, and maybe not anywhere but japan. a lot of people (including me) got into gg when ac came out. drastic changes were made to the characters and it also became the longest-played version of any guilty gear. from the point of view of those people, the ac version is how each character is defined. going back to a less developed state can leave a bad taste in people’s mouths. if +r didnt exist then i guess this would be ok, but i would personally prefer for everyone to play one guilty gear instead of having some people want to stick with +r because the characters lost tools, became less fun to use, or otherwise don’t line up with expectations.
i use slayer and the format of his air combos was completely overhauled in ac. it became part of the character’s appeal that he moved all elegantly n shit in the air as he laid beatdowns instead of doing air chains like he did pre-ac. plus silly things like bite loop coming back is so esoteric and pointless. yes it’s cool, but still. the new game mechanics are promising but on a character basis i would prefer if only extreme/unnecessary things were taken out, instead of scaling back so closely to #r.
This really makes sense, he is the mastermind behind the entire series. He will probably use the #R versions as a launching point to all the new adjustments he will make to the characters. He is a visionary, trust him.
I totally agree, but for me, i prefer to think that it will be a mixed bag.
I can already see Chipp sucking ass again for example, something is telling me that the stuff he will get wouldn’t compensate for the cool stuff that he gained through the years that wouldn’t come back.
Speaking of PSP, Arcsys needs to put GGJ on PSN for consoles or something. I loved it so much that when I accidentally damaged my physical copy, I duct taped it together to make sure it worked for years, and I later bought a digital copy just in case that one ever went bad.
I don’t know if they released an English version of #R on PC or if it was patch someone made , but there definitely is an English version floating around.
And I was pissed that GG Judgment had the story mode stripped from GGX#R.
Personally think they should use slash as the base as it was one of the more balanced guilty gears. Also chipp was pretty solid in that one because he actually had 30-40% combo’s that lead into oki. That is what he needs to be viable.
